الموقع الأركيولوجي هو المكان الذي يحفظ أدلة لأنشطة سابقة (ما قبل تاريخية، تاريخية، معاصرة. في مدينة كالقاهرة، تقبع مواقع أركيولوجية عديدة ترسل الإشارات الخفية إلى أولئك المهتمين والراغبين في الإلتفات والانصات لتلك الإشارات. قد يساعدنا الالتفات في التفاعل مع تلك البقعة عن طريق ذاكرتنا الجمعية باحثين بداخلها عن مؤشرات صغيرة ترشدنا في عملية تفكيك المكان ومحتوياته، وتحليل تاريخه وأثره، وأثر أولئك الذين مروا به. الورشة محاولة للوصول لرؤية واضحة لمكان، مع الأخذ في الاعتبار كل مكوناته سواء كانت انعاكاسات ضوئية، ظلال، أصوات يصدرها وتحيط به أو أشخاصًا مرتبطين به، سعيًا نحو إلمام كامل بالمكان وسياقاته. ومن ثم يأتي تفكيك هذه العناصر وإعادة بنائها: نتتبع العناصر الأصيلة ونحاول خلق أخرى موازية، ربما يكون لديها القدرة على لفت الانتباه لجوانب معينة من تاريخ المكان وعلاقتها بواقعه الحالي.

المكان: المحاضرة الأولى ستقام بمقر ستوديوخانة. ستقام الورشة بحديقة الطفل العامة بالزمالك، شارع أم كلثوم، بجانب مسجد الزمالك.

المدة - البرنامج: تبدأ الورشة يوم الجمعة الموافق ۲ مارس ۲۰۱۸ وتنتهي مدة العمل يوم الأربعاء الموافق ۱٤ مارس ۲۰۱۸ يبدأ اليوم من ۱۱ صباحًا ل ٤ مساءً اليوم الأول (الجمعة ۲ مارس): محاضرة نظرية – تعريف المشاركين بالفنانة وأعمالها.. مقدمة تاريخية للأعمال الفنية المتعلقة بالمكان وأمثلة لفنانين معاصرين وأعمال فنية تتناول نفس الفكرة. اليوم الثاني (السبت ۳ مارس)۱۱ صباحًا ل ٤ مساءً: يتعرف المشاركين على الحديقة ويتفاعلون مع محيطها للبحث عن الأشياء التي يمكن استخدامها، يبدأ كل منهم باختيار العنصر (شجرة، حائط، كومة من الخشب) أو المساحة التي سيعمل بها. اليوم الثالث – اليوم السادس (الإثنين ٥ مارس – الأربعاء ۱٤ مارس)۱۱ صباحًا ل ٤ مساءً: على مدار أسبوعين، سيلتقي المشاركين ثلاث مرات أسبوعيًا ويعملون على مشاريعهم. سيستخدمون طرق كالأشياء المعثور عليها- الأشياء جاهزة الصنع-فن البيئة لإنجاز أعمالهم. لن يسمح بإحضار أي أدوات أو أشياء من الخارج، ستعمل المدربة مع المشاركين وتقيم حلقات نقاش حول الأفكار المطروحة للمساعدة في إنجاز الأعمال والكتابة عنها. المعرض النهائي: ستعرض الأعمال النهائية في الحديقة من الأربعاء الموافق ۲۱ مارس حتى الخميس ۲۹ مارس، لن يتم عرض الأعمال في قاعة عرض أو مساحة مغلقة، سيتم توثيق النتائج في كتالوج يحوي صور الأعمال ونصوص صغيرة من كتابة المدربة والطلبة المشاركين يصف كل منهم العمل والتجربة. المشروع بدعم من بروهلفيتسيا القاهرة الاستمارة

Lost, Found and Eternal Workshop by: Sandrine Pelletier An archaeological site is a place in which evidence of past activity is preserved (either prehistoric, historic or contemporary). In cities like Cairo, plenty of archaeological sites lay unnoticed sending ambiguous signs to those willing to turn around and listen attentively. Paying attention might help us communicate with the spot through our collective memory, looking within it for little indicatives to guide us through the process of deconstructing the place. Analyzing its history and impact of the people who passed by it. The workshop is an attempt to achieve a clear view of a place, taking into consideration all its elements, be it reflections, shadows, voices and sounds, or people that associated with the place, a complete grasp of the place and its context. We then attempt to deconstruct and rebuild the elements, tracing the authentic elements and creating parallel landmarks with the ability to draw attention to or recall certain aspects relating the history of the place to its reality now. Place: First Indoor session will take place at StudioKhana. Outdoor sessions will take place in Zamalek Kids' Garden, St. Om Kolthoum, near El-Zamalek mosque. ------ Duration and Timeline: 11 Am - 4 pm Day 1 (Friday)11 Am - 4 pm: Indoor introductory session - the participants introduced to the instructor and her outdoor projects, along with a brief history of Land art and examples of outdoor projects and artists. Day 2 (Saturday) 11 Am - 4 pm: Participants will explore the garden and observe all the surroundings, and lost objects that are already there. Each participant will have to define a place in the garden: (a tree, a brick wall, a cabin, or on the top of a palm tree.) Day 3 – Day 6 (Monday 5 March – Wednesday 14 March) 11 Am - 4 pm: Over the course of the two weeks, students will meet and work on their projects. They will use methods like the ready-made, found object, land art to create their pieces (Abandoned plastic bags or little stones from the ground, an abandoned seesaw, or a pile of wood planks). They will not be allowed to bring any elements/materials from outside the garden. For the rest of the week the instructor will hold discussions with the participants and will help them start, finalize and write about their projects. Final Exhibition (Wednesday 21 March- Thursday 29 March): The works will be on display in the garden for a week The result will not be presented in a gallery or in a closed space. The process and results will be archived and displayed in a catalogue. Along with texts by the instructor and the participants about their piece and the thought, process that helped them achieve it. Finds its source in the work of German artist Hermann Hesse, Narcissus and Goldmund (published in English under the title Death and the Lover), which takes place in Germany in the Middle Ages and tells the story of two characters who have nothing in common yet show to be complementary - they meet, then each choose a different path of life - Narcissus becomes a monk and Goldmund follows an hedonistic life of wandering, nourishing his artistic inspiration with experiences accumulated on the road.

What one finds in this story of initiation (in which symbols are plenty, one in particular being the tree) is the inherent duality of human nature: the opposition between the active and the contemplative life, the quest for spirituality and the instability of existence. These contradictions are the inspiration behind the horizontal installation of burned wood on which carved letters read No Roads Will Bring Us Together. In a more universal and contemporary context, this sentence highlights an impossible story symbolized by pieces of wood of different origins juxtaposed and burned. A case of opposites becoming one, the symmetry between reason and passion, between pragmatism and ideology, which builds the ruins of our contemporary history: legacy. The old mirror, taken out of its frame and with a barely readable engraved text on its underside reflects the fragility of life, the transience of time and the message Hesse’s work: we will all disappear one day, leaving some kind of trace of our passage, regardless of the path we take.
