I CAN BE SILENT NO LONGER you know how in the music store before going to the island Arthur played like a full piano piece with a melody and a bassline and just. He could not do that with one hand!!! I was really hoping it would be a Plot Point but I'm on episode 27 now and forced to confront that it was just a weird ass oversight and it has been bothering me since it happened. Of all the things to forget. I cannot be the only person who noticed it. Please

okay so it wouldn't be like a DIRECT au of it, just like a heavily inspired by, but BUDDIE TWISTER/TWISTERS AU:
so. buck is a storm chaser. he's got his team, him and a few others, and then abby, his girlfriend. they're working on trying to find a way to tame a twister — to get it to stop before it can start enough to do it's damage. they think they've finally got it, only when they go to put it into test there is a horrible accident and buck loses the whole team, except abby. the two of them are the only survivors. and it is DEVASTATING, but buck is like at least abby and i can lean on each other in our grief, we can get through this together. only abby quits. she quits stormchasing then and there and she leaves, just disappears, leaving buck alone with his grief. (if we want to be Extra Angsty, perhaps she even leaves with some sort of comment that implies she blames him for what happened).
so buck quits too — only it's not a permanent quit, of course. his sisters boyfriend, chimney, is a stormchaser, and when bucks home visiting maddie one day, chimney is there and he's talking about his teams plan (maybe his team was also after the same sort of twister tamer thing — maybe even based off of bucks teams initial research) and he's asking buck about it and buck hasn't thought about this stuff in a while (lies; he's thought about that incident every day since it happened.) but like enough time has passed that talking about it with someone else who's enthusiastic about the research rather than just interested in the tragedy of it all, starts to excite him a little too. and chimney tells him he should come with, when he and his team head out in a week. and after some Thinking and some encouragement from maddie, buck agrees and goes with chimney.
and so buck joins the 118 — consisting of chimney and hen and bobby (and maybe ravi too bc i love ravi okay). and it's good. they're a great team, brilliant, and they're all about helping people too. like, yes, their research is important to them, and they're fighting tooth and nail to achieve their goal, but they're put that on pause if there's even a chance for them to go help people evacuate or find shelter or clean up in the aftermath — and that's something buck really loves about the team. bc that's all he wants to do, help people. so buck fits right in with them and it's. it's fun, again. he did miss this.
and, of course, the 118 has a riiiiiival team — another group of stormchasers who are ALSO trying to find a way to stop the twisters before they can do their damage. they're both close, so it's kind of like a competition between them, which team will capture success first? but this team (not really sure who it'll consist of yet) but im undecided on if eddie would be the leader of the group or if he's just a team member, but. eddie dia,z with his sweeeeet texan twang, and his big cowboy hat and his flashy belt buckles and his charm, he's there. and their team is popular in the stormchasing world, and everyone's eyes are on them too.
but like it's always those two — the 118 and eddies team — at the forefront of it all, they're always chasing the same storms.
and both teams are on the cusp of a big storm, but the 118 catch wind that there's a small town in the path of this one, and they decide instead of following the twisters they're going to head to the town to help the people there. and they end up veering off the path and eddie notices and then HE finds out about the town and he tells his team they need to go help too but his team is like dude NO we gotta get to the twister, the 118 are gone so this is our chance to be the ones to test our tornado tamer solution, WE could beat them. and like eddies team has clearly lost the whole point of all of this — to save people. but HE hasn't, so he goes rogue and he heads to the town instead, where he finds the 118 and they're a bit wary of him at first bc it feels out of character for someone from his team to be here doing this rather than chasing the storm, but at this point im thinking buck and eddie have already had some conversations (MAYBE eddie has actually saved buck once already too so like that trust between them is already built) and buck just immediately starts shouting instructions and eddie falls into line with them and the two of them work flawlessly together and the rest of the 118 is like yeah okay he's good people and they welcome him in too.
and maybe eddies team runs into trouble too and eddie catches wind of it (he's still connected to their radios maybe?) and he's like fuck we gotta help them too so he and buck break off to go help that team (bc even if they're the 118's rivals and even if they're on the verge of the breakthrough the 118 has been chasing too, that doesn't matter rn. what matters is saving as many lives as possible) so the two of them break off to go help and they DO but eddies teams solution DOESNT work, but they took the 118's truck that was loaded with THEIR solution so buck and eddie let that loose and THAT DOES end up working and so buck and eddie save eddies team AND the town AND each other.
and, OF COURSE, through all of that buck and eddie fall in love, and in the end eddie ends up joining buck's team, and they chase storms together, and when they have bad days, when they have close calls, they're there for each other and they're not going anywhere, and they ALWAYS have each other's backs <3

still stuck on mhok's trauma, unsurprisingly. i keep thinking about the opening scenes of this show, showing us day losing his sight, and mhok losing rung. i really thought that the show would spend equal time and care on both
my first post about this show was pointing out that the first shot of day is a close up of his eyes, and the first time we see mhok, he's holding something in his mouth. and i thought it was so interesting that we see mhok gagged, because society generally doesn't care what people who've been incarcerated have to say. or poor people. and by and large, it doesn't care about the voices of traumatized people, either
and i was so curious to see what the show was going to do with that. i can't believe the show itself was never really interested in what mhok has to say
and i'm stuck on mhok's time in hawaii. the show highlighted over and over again how poor he is, and we know that he didn't like studying. what are his english skills like? we saw singha there, and i think one other thai person. was that the extent of his social circle? he seemed pretty happy to leave hawaii behind, so did he make no new friends? did he spend his days off just sitting in his room by himself, the way day did when he went to songkla with mhok?
i assume he and porjai were still in touch, but he moved abroad at a time when his ptsd was getting worse, and in the wake of a terrible breakup, and he just walked all of that off? alone???
feeling overly protective and over-responsible is absolutely an understandable trauma response for mhok, but you know what else is? losing a relationship, and feeling like you HAVE to go back and fix it, and that if you can just get a do-over, you'll be able to do everything perfectly this time, and you'll get everything right, and everything will be okay! this makes more sense to me in the final episode than the idea of mhok and day having a happily ever after does

"But why would Sonic still be friends with them why wouldn’t he denounce them or treat them like the villains they are? Why won't he realize they're just evil?"
First of all, has it perhaps occured to you that Sonic loves/cares for them no matter what they do and doesn't want to hurt them if he doesn't have to? Has it perhaps occurred to you that he doesn't see them like irredeemable villains and it's not because he's a dumb dumb idiot?
Second of all, haha keep talking and I'm gonna unroll my character analysis essay. "They're just evil" yeah that's rich. Bet you thought the ending of the series was about "redeeming" them too, huh?
#sondread#sonine#sonic prime#sonic the hedgehog#knuckles the dread#nine the fox#I'm gonna be a prime sonic defender forever at this rate#Anyways I channeled the me from between seasons 2 and 3 who was frustrated at seeing the stuff people were saying about my favs#Prime Sonic somehow seems to compel people to start foam at the mouth as they call him stupid and deride him for being hopeful and seeing#the good and people#and then somehow the people who are willing to be okay about Prime Sonic's tendency to try to save everyone and towards self sacrifice#can only believe it as long as sonic stupidly and naively believes his beloved friends are good people as these 'friends' so skillfully#manipulate him#Then when Sonic sees them at their worst canonically those people start foaming at the mouth when he doesn't instantly denounce or try to#imprison/kill these characters#It makes me less frustrated when it comes to Dread because I can get what people are seeing and unfortunately whatever talk transpired#between Sonic leaving the yoke in s3 and everyone else coming to fight Nine happened offscreen#You do have to dig at least slightly beyond surface level interpretation to get the reading that Dread is more than just an evil guy who was#pretending to not be#(although I would have thought how he originally tried to save his crew from experiencing him at his worst by keeping himself away from his#obsession would mean something but I digress)#With Nine to believe that he's always just been evil and manipulative to Sonic so he could backstab him you quite literally have to ignore#everything we see across the whole series and the feelings that come through in the final episodes of seasons 2 and 3#and ONLY believe that what Renegade and Shadow say about Nine (and the chaos council in s3) is canon#And yes I do think that if you thought S3 was about redeeming certain characters so the ending could be happy go lucky then you are missing#the point of what Sonic Prime tried to say and of Sonic’s own philosophy#I daresay you missed the point of some of these characters as well if you think their arcs are about how they end with them redeeming#themselves so they can become good people and therefore deserve life and a home#fandom wank#i just be ramblin

I FINISHED MY REREAD THE OTHER DAY and was kind of. huh??? HUH at the sprinkling of ghost/taryn hints throughout the ending chapters. they were there and I was curious. I for one would be delighted and also deeply amused to see that it became canon offscreen
YEAHHHH it seems so random and yet so fitting. I hope they are together. Why WOULDN'T Taryn get over her stupid husband in a matter of days and take over his enormous mansion and all his possessions accompanied by a random peasant half-blood? That's what she deserves

I think it would be neat if we had a story in where like, the ninja all get separated into different places (my best excuse currently is the Merge), and Lloyd ends up somewhere now powerless and all alone, and the only thing that he could rely on to survive and fight is his Oni form, and so he has this journey where he has to rely on his Oni form, and throughout this journey he grows to accept it
I don’t think I worded it the best, but basically what I’m getting at is Lloyd being forced to acknowledge his Oni form, and thus his heritage, instead of rejecting it in favor of his dragon side (edit: okay they don’t really mention him being part dragon ever, but I mean that he only deals with the good side, always rejecting his Oni side), and through this learning to accept it, and likely control it
(Also I think it would be cool to see him use his Oni form after this journey, and while it’s not his main form of attack, he’d use it somewhat regularly and has far more control over it than just be a raging beast. I mean, maybe he doesn’t talk in that form and it is still generally destructive, but he can go in and out of it whenever he wants and won’t attack his friends)

Been feeling frustrated with art lately, as the last few sketches I did all turned out like ass, mostly because I'm such a scrub when it comes to foreshortening.
I think I'm finally getting somewhere though. Feels great, so have a preview cuz I'm excited :P

i'd like to know more about how mega evolution works for your ocs, if you don't mind ^-^
you have activated my trap card............. prepare for Paragraphs
ALRIGHTY so to talk about my pmd ocs i gotta talk about the main verse and how it connects to the pmd universe. also this is a bit of spoilers for the starfall prequel but ehhhh its just the lore i dont think its a massive deal mentioning it lmao
SO. in starfall, the pmd and mainverse worlds are split timelines! the exact divergence happened when AZ fired the ultimate weapon. in the main series, the events were devastating still, but everyone was largely able to come back from it. in the pmd timeline, the humans could not. a good amount of humans were wiped out and over the next several centuries, pokemon became the dominant species on earth and humans dwindled out.
AZ of course fired the weapon for his Floette, swearing revenge on her murderers. He had taken several Pokemon that were separated from their owners during the war to power up the weapon, blinded by rage. One of those Pokemon was a Carbink. When he fired the weapon, the life energy drained from all of the Pokemon attached to the stones and was converted into the beam of light that devastated humanity.
But that Carbink survived, and with her survival came mutation caused by the energy scattering around her. She transformed into what people know today as Diancie. Since she was so close to the blast, she also became immortal.
The energy around them soon settled into multicolored dust. This would come to be known as emera dust. The dust could be gathered and formed into emeras, which usually broke apart soon after use and were used for simple stat boosts. Diancie soon realized she had the ability to take this dust and convert them into permanent stones, and she quickly gained a following creating stones for other Pokemon.
I'm still working out the timeline here- like why this wouldnt be relevant in the first three games because this only really concerns psmd. maybe its like a quieter thing at first with only a few teams using it? idk.
But anyways, by the time of PSMD, emeras are well known and accepted as a staple of exploration teams. Keep in mind, the origin of the emeras is not well known at all. Looplets have been developed to take advantage of them. Because of their efficiency, they pretty much replace stat boosting clothing entirely. Everything seemed all fine and dandy, success rates were at an all-time high!
But then mega evolution became common. When it first started, it had no name, but it was feared. Pokemon would be going through a dungeon, and they would create a strangely powerful emera that would boost a Pokemon's aura to extreme lengths, powering them up temporarily. For most Pokemon, it was an average stat boost, but for others... they would morph into a new form entirely, not unlike evolution. And soon after, those Pokemon would rampage, tearing the dungeon apart from within and attacking their own teammates. They became near incomprehensible in this form, but witnesses would report that they sounded like they were in pain.
This is because to make mega evolution work seamlessly without any of the harsh side effects, a human is needed to "ground" a mega evolved Pokemon. A mega evolved Pokemon gains an excessive amount of aura, which is why their body evolves to accommodate for it. But because it's not a natural form, the side effects can be physically painful, sending them into a rage, trying desperately to get their energy out.
When a human is bonded with a Pokemon well enough, they will get the ability to mega evolve that Pokemon, and the excess aura from mega evolution will be absorbed into the human through their keystone. A human's defensive aura towards Pokemon attacks make it so that taking on the energy is barely noticeable. This is why in the mainverse, only a select few individuals are able to mega evolve- there's a very tight leash kept on the practice for the safety of both trainers and Pokemon, and you have to prove yourself before taking it on.
But in the PMD universe, there are no humans. No one able to take on that excess aura, at least not painlessly. So there's no anchor and no safe way to mega evolve in this world. The Pokemon feel the full brunt of those side effects. They're feared in this world and seen as taboo.
So, sometime after the events of PSMD, the expedition society's leader Miriam (the psmd partner in my file) holds a meeting with guild societies around the globe to acknowledge the mega evolution problem. They vote to ban emeras and looplets from regular practice- any team caught with them will have their badges forfeited. This is a controversial choice, as many Pokemon believe that the looplet system worked, and it shouldn't have been thrown out without finding a way to make mega evolution work.
This is made more controversial by the fact that Miriam and Jay (PSMD hero) can actually pull off mega evolution together because of Jay's status as a former human- they have a human aura at their core, so once they honed their skills, Jay was able to act as Miriam's anchor. So they're visible proof that mega evolution CAN work in this world, perhaps. Regardless, the two give it up except for when they truly need it.
Many Pokemon went to Diancie to try and get her to make them looplets and emeras again anyways behind the expedition society's back- some even wanted mega stones to test out the rumors for themselves! Remembering the devastation from all those centuries ago, Diancie decided to hide away in an underground cave network, never to be seen again for quite some time.
TLDR, So at the time of the prequel, looplets and by extension mega evolution is outlawed. It's an extremely dangerous and taboo practice because there are no humans around to act as an anchor. Some Pokemon are unhappy with this and want to find a way to mega evolve safely.

everybody out here freaking out over lichtenberg figures and i’m over here like “do you think they’ll have any aftereffects of a lightning strike or is it going to be like always where all scars have faded in three episodes and no one even gets a cramp later?”
like, there’s a lot of drama potential to be mined in long term side effects of lightning strikes. personality changes, mood disorders, hell let him wake up speaking Spanish or playing the ukulele idgaf
but i know damn well these mfs don’t have the attention span for that which is dumb when the showrunner herself has admitted she struggles to come up with plots. you got material right there if you really can’t come up with something new, gd
