I was so excited once I finished Thilia, and just wanted to continue with a different character as soon as possible. I started Thilia's lover, Beau next, but because I'm still not familiar with Procreate, after a while I just went back to my PC and started Alicia instead. 

I gave some thought of Thilia's role in a rogue-like game too. As I previously mentioned, she'd be an ally for sure, and I still have a strong feeling that she would give one-use items and small boons, boosting that sweet-sweet dmg. After that I realized that she enjoys cooking, and she also started to learn about medical herbs, so she could definitely provide food-based items that can have other beneficial effects. If you have progressed enough in her 'quest' or improved the bond with her, she'd just give an item time to time for free as a gift, probably stronger items as the relationship grows. Because she is a caster, I can imagine that she could give a temporary armor too, but I think this should be something tied to her quest as she learns more about her magical abilities. 

She could be found in the kitchen area cooking and creating potions, or she could tend the garden with Akiya, her teacher. I can imagine that she goes back to her room learning new recipes, or just disappears to spend some time with her boyfriend (so she wouldn't be a romanceable character, sorry :( ). Other times she could be found next to a pond - perhaps a random encounter in the first big area, but in that case this would be a rare occasion and unlocking a healing pond is a must to meet her during a run. 

Unlike the antihero Alicia, who would be another obstacle in the second or third area, not thinking the main character is strong enough to take the BBEG, Thilia would be full of support. She'd feel anger towards Alicia for sure, and she wouldn't be happy that the necromancer is in the camp. Thilia just couldn't accept the fact that Alicia is an ally somehow, and she would speak her mind harshly and clearly. 

Ohboy, she could have a ton of roles thanks to her curious nature :D

To explore this, I recently took on a personal challenge: wear different styles every day for a week and track how each one made me feel.

What I discovered was more impactful than I expected.

The Fashion–Self-Esteem Connection

It’s fascinating how fashion acts as a form of self-expression, yet it can sometimes feel like society is telling us how we should look. This pressure can take a toll on our self-esteem. Many people struggle with their image, feeling like they need to keep up with trends or fear judgment for their style choices. I've seen friends feel out of place simply because their fashion didn’t align with what’s trending.

This can create a cycle of self-doubt and comparison—especially on social media.

Social Media and the Comparison Trap

We scroll through Instagram and TikTok, bombarded with images of influencers and models with seemingly perfect outfits and flawless bodies. It’s hard not to compare ourselves. But those images are often heavily curated and edited—they're highlight reels, not real life. Behind the filters, everyone has insecurities.

Remembering that reality check can be a crucial step in protecting our self-esteem.

When Clothes Empower or Disempower

Throughout my challenge, I noticed clear shifts in how I felt based on what I wore. Some outfits made me feel powerful, others awkward and self-conscious. One day I wore something trendy but totally out of my comfort zone. I spent the entire day feeling like an imposter, second-guessing how I looked. My confidence shrunk like a sweater in hot water.

On other days, when I wore pieces that truly felt like “me,” I felt more confident, more present, more me.

There’s actually research backing this up. One study shows that dressing in formal, professional clothing can boost our sense of capability and power. Clothing influences not just how others perceive us, but how we perceive ourselves.

Society’s Role in Shaping Our Style Confidence

Fashion isn’t just personal—it’s also deeply shaped by societal standards. The fashion industry often sets narrow ideals for what’s considered beautiful or stylish. Thankfully, body positivity and inclusive fashion movements are starting to shift that narrative, making more people feel seen and valued.

This shift is helping people embrace their unique style as a form of self-love, not just self-expression.

Fashion as Self-Care

One of the most empowering realizations I had during this challenge was that fashion can be a form of self-care. Choosing clothes that reflect who you are and how you want to feel can be an act of self-kindness. It’s not about impressing others—it’s about honoring yourself.

When you dress in a way that supports your confidence, you’re not just showing up—you’re showing up for yourself.

The Takeaway: Be Mindful With Your Style

The link between fashion and self-esteem is real, and it’s powerful. While it can sometimes lead to stress or insecurity, it can also be a source of empowerment and joy. The key is to be intentional. Wear what makes you feel strong, comfortable, and authentically you.

Because when you feel good in your clothes, you carry yourself differently—and that’s the kind of confidence that truly stands out.

Styles loosely explained, in order from top to bottom, left to right: 1. Kind of messy style, reminds me of the show Whatever Happened to Robot Jones 2. Katt from Animal Crossing and Wile E. Coyote combined??? 3. "Mix between anime and western animation chibi" style 4. The style I currently use. May change to a different one if popular preference calls. 5. I drew these without reference and I could say they are experimental in nature. IDK what to call this OC, I just created him for the challenge. Maybe I'll use him in the future, who knows. After I established the flat colors, it didn't take too long to paint the shadows, mainly because I had a confidence boost. I still had trouble with the background though - ideally I would have painted something similar to the Hades maps, but I had no idea what kind of environment I should use and why. In this case a top down view of the character would have been nice too with the protag talking to Alicia, sooo...

Nah, it seemed to much work for an already difficult style challenge, so I just decided to add a textured bg with black frame around it. I was thinking about adding some shapes in the frame to make it a bit more interesting, but once I tried, it was pretty distracting and it felt messy as well. The character is already detailed enough, and I wanted the focus to stay on my menacing child.

During the coloring, another issue arose - the bones between her hands made a lot of visual noise. The shapes were extremely confusing with her torso that also has a ton of parts, and on top of that there was the magic blob too. At first it felt overwhelming and I didn't know how to approach the problem. I didn't want to hide everything behind the effect, making it too plain, but if I made it too transparent, it became unreadable. Dealing with the right color was also an issue because of the different tones on the clothes, but gradient came to the rescue. With the right opacity and right colors in the gradient, my problem was solved. After that I adjusted the shades of the bones to somewhat reflect they are affected by the magic.

I'm extremely happy how this one turned out. Probably this is the best one about my necromancer so far, and I really wanted to draw her more after this experiment. I won't say I succeeded, because... Well, I have a ton of other sketches, waiting for me, but at least she's got some love this time :D
