ummm. isn’t this kind of like. i feel like that review making fun of her (sally rooney) always writing her characters looking around at shit wasn’t about the prose style but the fact that it’s fundamentally not that great of a character action to have them look at something and it really just feels like something that reveals interiority but is actually pretty cliche and doesn’t in fact do that in a meaningful way? ig this is something i think about a lot bc i tend to struggle with overanalyzing every gesture i write and hate cliche ones bc i’ve often relied on them and i hate it but idfk 

also i lowkey think her prose style is good and extremely readable which is more than you can say about most flowery ass writers of the day so its extremely odd that she sees it as her major flaw... her characters are what’s flat!

mirabelle- canada goose!!!! heavily migratory (as befits the change belief) waterbirds (water is constantly shifting and changing by the seasons)!!! theyre cute!!! theyre pretty!!! theyre fierce when the situation calls for it!!! also idk i feel like the colors just fit for her!!

siffrin: catlike, cute, nocturnal, and undeniably sharp- the barn owl!!! i couldnt NOT make siffrin a nocturnal species with their whole cultural thing being around the stars!! also, owls historically have had a bunch of symbolism placed around them being symbols of death, with some cultures also having them be symbols of victory in battle!!!

isabeau: cockatoo!!!! theyre like if a cockatiel (smallish, kind of wimpy) pokemon-evolved!!! theyve got the big ostentatious head feathers!!! big tough nut-cracking beak!!! heavy duty parrot!! while also being incredibly smart and stylish!!!

odile: great blue heron!!! undeniably graceful and wise looking, yet sharp!!! impressive plumage, but in a more understated way!! truly the embodiment of modern dinosaurs!!

bonnie: zebra finch!!! little but loud!!! big colorful beak and cheek patches!! not as robust as the cockatoo or the goose, but no less enthusiastic!!!

loop: uh. mystery bird? owl??? lets say a weird owl. theyre just the same as normal loop but slightly more birdlike

while i finish the new chapter and other wips here are some of my headcanon for Hayffie post!MJ in Twelve:

• They live together. Effie just shows up one night and it just happens.

• At first, their excuse in front of the children is "it's because she's my escort/he's my victor".

• Peeta of course knows what's up, but Katniss will remain oblivious for a while. Or at least until she catches them together lmao.

• Effie has a Monroe bob! It's easy to style/colour (just like her wigs), and it's effortlessly stylish. Haymitch loves to run his hand through her hair, and is often guilty of messing up whatever she has done with it.

• Effie will make a fuss about it, but she secretly loves when he pets her hair

• Haymitch will wake up one morning to find his geese wearing little hats or ribbons

• He IS still drinking, but way less than before because he doesn't want to worry her

• They will go to the lake together, Haymitch will pick up arrowhead's roots to cook and Effie will swim

• Even in the water she will wear a linen vest to cover some of her scars, and Haymitch will joke and say that she needs to be fashionable for the fishes

Anyways cross dresser Ollie AU

He would often got bullied in middle school that in high school he started cross dressing when he went out so none of his classmates would see him, and like make fun of him. Anyways he became like really good at make up and he is so stylish when he cross dresses. So anyways he enters Oxford and wow did he have a lot of baggage, full of clothes, wigs and makeup, after like a week he decided to go out, he dresses up all cute for the bar for free drinks.

First person to notice him? Felix, Felix wanted to take mystery chick to bed because he think she’ll be easy (no one’s has said no to him before) after separating from his group Felix walks up to Ollie and asks if he could buy him a drink, and Ollie not gonna deny a free drinks says yes haha. Anyways after a while, Felix thinks he’s in, like he’s gonna get laid tonight. He ask Ollie if he wants to head out and Ollie says no, because Felix didn’t even ask for his name, and then leaves. (And of course because he was cross dressing) Anyways somehow Felix and Ollie (not cross dressing Ollie) became friends. All the while Felix is trying to get with Ollies crossdressing self.

Anyways I just think Felix will realize it’s Oliver one day, he’ll be like “yeah and I’ve been trying to get with this girl with the most beautiful blue ey-“ and he cuts himself off because Ollie looks up at him with those EXACT. SAME. EYES. But he’s scared of confrontation and never tells Ollie that he knows and it honestly seems like he’s flirting way harder with Ollie’s crossdressing self. Also Felix tells farleigh and he’s just like “idk man I’ve never seen them in the same room ʅ（◞‿◟）ʃ”

Anyways I don’t know what name Ollie would pick, Olivia? Just like really noticeable but like they don’t look anything alike so? Who would know right?

I just worried about how much Kimiko dyed her hair as prolonged dyeing. dyeing your hair regularly can be bad for it. The peroxide in hair dye can cause hair to feel dry and straw-like, and repeated coloring can weaken hair and make it more prone to breakage. Other damage that hair dye can cause includes: Loss of strength, Reduced thickness, Increased roughness of hair follicle, and Less ability for your hair to handle heat styling.

Don't worry, I really don't think Kimiko has ever dyed her natural hair.

Kimiko's natural hair color is jet black. She would have to bleach it before she could dye it at all, which is much more damaging than dying.

And we always see it back in its silky, jet-black state without any change in texture or luster whenever she's wearing her monk uniform, so I doubt she's ever bleached it.

The length of her default pigtails stays the same too, even though the length of the many hairstyles varies so much. And she's not cutting and regrowing it that regularly.

There are some outfits where she's just styled her natural hair, and you can tell by the length and shine in those looks.

But for the vast majority of her looks, especially anything that's a different color or texture, Kimiko is styling a wig for that look.

Which is frankly way more difficult than styling real hair, so Kimiko would pride herself in how well she's able to do it.

Kimiko's rich enough to afford the many different wigs, and stylish and skilled enough to personally style and color and curl each one herself. She can also afford all the wig tape or silicone solution sheets she would need to keep it in place even while she's moving around so much. There are plenty of ways to keep a wig secure even during vigorous sports, she'd go the extra mile.

"Wigs" is the more practical and the more impressive explanation here, and the one in line with her lifestyle and personality.
