sometimes when i make a playlist i don't care about the order... sometimes all i care about is that it's book-ended by two specific songs or that it starts or ends with a particular song, but other than that it doesn't matter.

and sometimes i have to inject artificial softening so i can transition more smoothly into a romantic soul song after ramping the playlist up to nine inch nails...

#like tonal dissonance isn't necessarily an issue for me—god knows my liked songs are all over the place but this is just a playlist where #i'm trying to do something specific and that something specific is... well. it's tonal dissonance on purpose but it also needs to be gradua #it's ALSO bookended by two brand new songs inside of that structure #think of unchained melody here as a like... secret track on an album...#except i can't figure out any songs that would fit here that end in thirty seconds of silence #thus dancing with a ghost which is admittedly not silent but at least ramps DOWN from NIN #part of the problem is just that the recording for unchained melody starts really abruptly so uh. it's kind of sudden.#nadia rambles #actually the metric song that kicks this playlist off is also intended as a bookend in conversation with unchained melody—#stylistically and as an oblique reference to the righteous bros song of the same name *taps head three times*#it's 1 am okay
