PhotographyTipsForBeginners Complimentary background - When you compose your image, always try to get a complimentary background which enhances the main subject. It should not be distracting to the eyes and also avoid uniform tonality background. A variation of colours in background will be good. Though I do not like nature subjects on man made objects, this I could not resist. Multiple things to learn from this image... 1) I still have openings for the Kanha Photography Learning Tour in June. That's the last one for the season. Do send in your registrations. 2) Composition: This was the only possible angle available to get the Tiger without any distractions running on it. Any other angle and the tree branches would have run across it. That's not good. Also, the common practice is to use the centre focusing point. If I had done that, then I would have kept the Tiger in the centre (horizontal) part of the image which means I would have included more of the bund and less of the green forest on top. You need to choose our composition carefully and not always frame it at the central horizontal line. 3) Sometimes you end up with out of focus tree (right side of frame). No need to avoid that. It's ok. As you can see, I have used that part to put in vertical text to announce my tour. For all of you new folks out there who have started following my page or me: 1) Photography teaching is my full time profession and I conduct workshops, photography learning tours and provide online video tutorials to learn. 2) I am a E&C Engineer who worked in software industry for 18 yrs before moving full time into teaching profession. 3) If you want to learn photography from me, please do visit my website to know the services I offer. Red Crested Pochard | Bharatpur Canon 1DX Mark II + Canon EF 800mm f5.6 L IS + 1.4x II Converter, ISO 1000, f8 @ 1/1250, Evaluative Metering -2/3 Stop, Aperture priority, Manual WB at 5000K AI Servo Case 2, AF Area mode - Single Point Manual Selection Canon and Nikon have some awesome cameras for action photography. But it's of no use if you do not know how to handle them and use specific configuration. There is no one single magic setting for all action. Canon 7DM2 has a separate AF configuration guide of around 58 pages, D500/D5 has something similar, Canon 1DX Mark II has a 158 page AF guide.... If you want to capture action, you need to be fully aware about the cameras AF capabilities. Don't blame the camera if you are not able to get that bird in flight.... Next video tutorial on that releasing soon... -- Sudhir Shivaram Photography - Helping you become a better photographer. Canon 800mm + 2X Converter on Canon 1D Mark III (1.3x crop) - That's 2240mm....You get magnification...but image quality degrades... I get a lot of queries for using 2X converter on 70-300, 55-250, 100-400 and even the Tamron 150-600 lens....though the reach looks attractive, the image quality will degrade and it's not worth it... You need to develop your skills on composition and try your best with what you have... -- Sudhir Shivaram Photography - Helping you become a better photographer. #bharatpur #canon📷 #Canon1DXMarkII #BirdPhotographyTips #BirdPhotography #SudhirShivaramPhotography #SudhirShivaramPhotographyTips #natgeo #nature #natgeowild #natgeotravel #wildlife #wildlifephotography #wildlifephotographytips #WildlifePhotographyTours

Rufous Tailed Lark, Bangalore Outskirts.... If you are a beginner in bird photography, then the best way to photograph ground birds is to lie down on the ground and get to the eye level of the bird. When you shoot at this angle, you need to ensure that there is no distraction in the background. This will give you a beautiful out of background bokeh and will enhance the image. When you stand up and shoot, the ground is the background and you will loose the impact. When I say eye level, the camera should be placed on the ground and shot... -- Sudhir Shivaram Photography - Helping you become a better photographer. It's always nice to receive these kind of testimonials on the video tutorials...hard work pays.... =========== Dear Sir, You do the best online video tutorials in photography like how all the videos are of perfect length and incredibly informative. Greater Cormorant with Catfish - Bharatpur... To capture an action like this, it takes good amount of knowledge on your equipment, it's capabilities and of course all about focusing. No equipment will give you good shots, unless you know how to use it. Watch out for the next video tutorial on my website which is all about the advanced concepts of auto focusing on the Canon 7DM2, 1DX, 1DX2, 5DM3/4....Nikon after this.... -- Sudhir Shivaram Photography - Helping you become a better photographer. #BirdPhotographyTips #BirdPhotography #SudhirShivaramPhotography #SudhirShivaramPhotographyTips #birds #BirdPhotography #BirdPhotographyTips #Canon1DXMarkII #canon📷 #bharatpur

Budget Lens / Camera for Bird Photography ======================= Nikon D500 + Tamron 150-600 G2 lens In continuation with the morning post, here's another image shot from the combination of budget camera / lens. You do not need a 6 Lakhs kind of equipment to make good images of birds. Of course, these camera lens also does cost a fortune, but then that's the cost to get into bird photography. These are value for money equipment. D500 performs quite well when it comes to auto focusing and noise performance. I have this same pic shot at around 12,000 ISO and it's quite decent. That is lacking in the Canon 7D Mark II.. It's all about understanding the concepts of photography and do not expect the camera / lens to give you good results. You need to push their limits, know the drawbacks and work around them. Any questions? Shoot. Budget Lens / Camera for Bird Photography ========================= Nikon D500 + Tamron 150-600 G2 lens If you like to do bird photography and need a budget lens then I highly recommend the 150-600 Tamron G2 lens. It gives you very decent results and when mounted on a crop factor body, you get a reach of 900mm and above which is pretty good for bird photography. As a starter, go for any entry level body and get a good lens. The most important aspect above that is to understand how to use the combination to it's fullest potential. With a entry level body, the focusing will be slow in low light situation. But that's the trade off with a budget camera and lens. Nikon D500 + Tamron 150-600 G2, ISO 640, f6.3 @ 1/2000, Matrix Metering at 0EV (should had done +1) fixed in Capture NX-D, AF-C mode with single point focusing, Manual WB at 5880K. Any questions?
