childhood memories

first swtor fic that i've actually finished wow! enjoy :)

Auicia's armour feels heavier on her shoulders as she takes another shot of tihaar. She's not even listening to Gault talk about… something or other, she didn't care. Not right now. Her eyes dart over to where they've been looking this whole time.

Light red skin with tattoos that look like rivers. Short black hair. Small blue eyes that shine like the water back home.

Saasri Kallig.

Or, Master Lynnoris Sulcor, as she called herself now. I'm being stupid. She probably doesn't even remember me.

"Can you read me a story, Aui? The one about the big grophet and his friends?"

"Sure, Rii. Promise you'll sleep after?"

"I promise!"

She'd hugged Auicia, after that, and asked to be picked up. She was about three, then; two weeks before her fourth birthday. Auicia shook her head at the memory. Saasri- Lynnoris, had always been so sweet and affectionate. Always wanting to be near her and Iofio, no matter what they were doing, no matter how boring. Even if it was just looking for scrap to sell, or collecting rocks along the coast of Raider's Cove, she wanted to be near her big sisters.

"Commander."

She snapped her head up. It's her. Her baby sister--no, she's not a baby anymore, stop thinking about that--in front of her.

"Yeah?"

"You were looking at me. I was unsure if you needed something."

Auicia hadn't realised she was staring. Hell, this was going to be awkward.

"Nope. Just looking around."

Gault gave her that look, that stupid look, one that screams that it was obvious she was staring.

"I'll leave you two be," he says, getting up, "I'll be off to go see my favourite woman." He said it loud enough so that Hylo could hear him from the other side of the bar; she hadn't even noticed Hylo came. The Mirialan rolls her eyes, dragging him off to stars-know-where. She wants to beg Gault to stay. He can't leave her alone like this, with her, in this situation. As much as she jokes and teases, the scoundrel had become something of a brother to Auicia. An uncle, maybe. She doesn't want to think about that right now, though. She doesn't want to think about any of her relationships.

"Well, if you need anything, you know where I am, Commander."

Saasri, Lynnoris, whatever she's called now, it hurts too much to think of, walks off with a short bow, as Auicia waves. She gets up and she walks--jogs--to her quarters. She can't deal with anyone right now. She doesn't want to deal with anyone right now.

A tug on her shirt.

"Aui, why are you crying?"

"Oh, it's… It's nothing, Rii. Why don't you go play with your sister?"

"Because you always hug me when I'm crying, and I wanna hug you now."

She'd been trying to pay off her father's debts to the Nova Blades, posthumously as it was. She didn't realise she was crying, she just knew Saasri was worried, and… she picked up the smaller girl, some of her tears falling on to the smaller Zabrak's head.

"Thank you, Rii."

The little girl nodded, nuzzling Auicia's shoulder in the process.

The weight lifted off her shoulders a bit.

She takes her armour off somewhat hastily, the weight too heavy for her at this point. The alcohol, these memories, all her feelings--far too much to handle for one woman, even one as strong as her. She wants to just get on the Mantis and go somewhere, maybe get a few drinks with Essarae and Risha, but no. She can't be seen like this, sweating and halfway drunk, on the walk to her ship. The Commander of the Alliance, seen like this…

"Commander, I have the-"

That voice. That deep voice.

"…It can wait."

"No." She says it a bit too loudly, a bit too quickly. It's Aereo Vral, her best operative, head of the Alliance's intelligence operations. And she's crying in front of him--she hadn't even realised she was crying until now, watching his eyes dart across her face like that--"Don't pity me, I don't need it", she wants to say so badly.

She feels an arm wrap around her, a strong arm, a familiar one.

"It's alright."

It's not. It's not alright. This is pathetic.

"I miss her."

"I know, I know," he says, kneeling down to sit on the floor in front of her chair, "you're alright."

Somehow, she gets the feeling he does actually know, even if he shouldn't, but- she doesn't care.

Maybe things will be alright.

just #sulcore things aka i have a special interest in colors

- I kept the term "Paladin" from my Voltron phase because of the potential pun "Palette-in"

- Jay being the edgy one is based off of Brown being Orange mixed with Black; Jay rejects their title as Orange Paladin by wearing black, as Brown is not a spectral color

- Rina's neutrality towards issues is based off of me claiming Green being a neutral color; it's such an in-between of yellow (a very bright warm color) and blue/cyan (the coldest colors) that Green as a character feels very neutral and emotionless to me

- Turqbalt is both the Cyan and Blue Paladins, because lots of people just lump Cyan as another shade of Blue. Hence why his whole "dual soul" fiasco exists; he's the entire Blue Spectrum, even though they're two pretty unique hues

- Amethyst and Aster get mistaken for one another, but are notably different people; "Violet" is a spectral color and is a more bluish purple, while "Purple" refers to violet pigments and is a more reddish purple. And so, Amethyst is the Violet Paladin and Aster could be considered a Purple Paladin. I'll occasionally use the terms interchagably though; I'm not as strict on the Purple spectrum than the Blue spectrum

- Rose I'll solely call the Pink Paladin, but she can technically represent Magenta or "Rose" itself

I use this color wheel as a huge way of organizing the Paladins; I think that Magenta and Rose (color) have different personalities in-universe, but Rose as the "Pink Paladin", it's very vague on which hue she actually represents. Until a Magenta Paladin pops up, she can technically represent the entire Pink spectrum; though I usually lump her in with the CMY colors

- Rose is the youngest and most inexperienced because technically a Pink Paladin shouldn't exist; Magenta as a color doesn't actually exist, it's merely how our brains perceive the absence of Green

- Because of that color wheel, I like to imagine there's potentially /12/ possible Paladins to exist; there's 6 Tertiary colors in this wheel, but only 2 of them are Paladins. We'll see!

- Jay and Amethyst are technically Tertiary colors, though I like separating the Paladins as RGB + Violet and CMY + Orange; the general personalities of Tertiary Paladins just fit those groups better

- Tarum is the only Quarternary color to exist as a real Paladin; since Indigo was previously said to be a color of the rainbow, I felt it was flexible enough to make an "Indigo Paladin", even though Rainbow-Indigo tends to refer to modern day true Blue rather than my own Blue-Violet definition. That being said, most Indigo souled characters are named after the BLUE dye.

- Gray being considered an absence of color is why there's a plot where Ruby's soul starts turning gray; she's literally infected by a curse that saps away what makes the RED Paladin... well, RED.

Tamara/”The Lady of Kingstreet”

The ghost of a young woman who committed suicide by jumping off the Kingstreet Bridge.

Kind of looks like the ghost from “The Ring” but is much nicer.

Her most substantial sightings are reported by those who chose not to jump, and the people who talked them down.

She has been known to physically restrain those who try to jump, or even just those who climb over the railing.

Maintenance workers doing work on the bridge often report seeing a young woman out of the corner of their eye, hundreds of feet above the road, who disappears if you try to look at her head on.

Bridge workers will often leave a small candle burning on the walkway railing on the alleged anniversary of her death, alongside a small piece of her favorite candy.

The candy is always gone by morning, but no employees or security cameras have ever seen what happens to it.

Sulcore

Former member of the Sigil Court for which the city is named.

Was removed from the court for displeasing His Grace, His Eminence, Lord Aetherius. Twice.

Has a creepy crush on Arthur’s cousin, Morgan Fay.

Cursed Morgan’s husband Lucius into the form of a fruit bat out of jealousy when Morgan wouldn’t cheat with him.

Literally so arrogant it’s a miracle he hasn’t gotten his ass kicked yet.

First member of the Sigil Court to lose a legal case made by a human in his own court.

Can be summoned with a 1/2 cup of cinnamon and a few drops of blood I didn’t do it on purpose! I was trying to surprise the boys’ with dinner. Can also be banished by threat of being eaten by an angry Kitsune.

Bronagh

A Nokken who was supposedly illegally kept as a pet by a wizard overseas before she was transported to America and released into a local lake for being ‘too unruly’ to keep.

Said wizard mysteriously went missing three weeks later, and hasn’t been seen since. That’s probably related.

Highly suspected to be the reason Kingstreet Bridge suicides with no witnesses rarely have bodies to find.

Hunts along the lakeshore and in boardwalk bars when she can’t lure away lone swimmers and drunken partiers.

She is gay af and can be easily flustered out of ‘hunting mode’ with Pool Party Turquoise lipstick, a few glowsticks, and a dash of glitter.

The Sigil Court regulates how much she can ‘hunt’ per month, as they are just as possessive of their human citizens as they are anything else, and she hates it.

She can be pacified by wedding bands (if flirt!hunting), strong whiskey, and angry Kitsune.

“Bob"

A low-level member of the vampire coven that’s put down roots in the city’s underground.

Dresses like a middle-aged business man who ran to work and didn’t have time to change his shoes but would probably be 100% goth if allowed by the dress code.

Steals expired donations from the blood bank.

Still maintains his day job at a bank bank and only gets a collective 40 hours of sleep a week.

Drinks his blood in repurposed Capri Sun pouches to eat during the day without suspicion.

Not actually that bad of a guy once you get to know him.

Claims to be of a non-contagious strain of vampirism. It is recommended to take precautions anyway.

thanks for the ask :D 11. which oc can't stand the heat at all and wears as little as they can get away with? essarae. she would live in a swimsuit if she could. a lot of the time she can get away with wearing just about nothing because she owns her ship and who's going to tell her what clothes she can wear (or a lack thereof) while piloting it? otherwise, she wears thinner clothes and shorts. 12. which oc has a very limited budget for buying clothes? *12a. how often do they shop for clothes, and where do they buy them? could they ever be convinced to make an impulse purchase?*12b. do they or a friend/relative make any of their own clothes? dud has the most limited budget in this regard. he rarely, if ever, shops for his clothes. he could be convinced to impulse buy something if he really, REALLY likes it or really needs it. he's too old to do truly heroic and action-packed jedi work like he used to, so he makes his own clothes. a lot of it goes to people in need, and whatever materials are leftover he uses on himself. his clothing material budget is his clothing budget. 16. which oc needs corrective lenses but either forgets to wear them or refuses to wear them? aereo. he's got astigmatism and has needed them all his life, but he only really wears contacts on missions. if he's not on a mission or in a situation where he otherwise needs them to focus, he's either wearing glasses or just going around with blurry vision. (even then, a lot of the time his glasses-wearing is enforced by vector telling him he's going to get a headache if he doesn't wear them... correct but that's absolutely not going to stop him from stumbling around blindly!)

Backstory Overview:

Iofio was born in to slavery. At 9 years old, her older sister was sold to a different slaver. After unintentionally killing her slaver out of anger using the Force, she was taken away by a merciful Sith Lord and trained under him until she was old enough to be sent to Korriban.

Being the oldest Force-sensitive in the family, she is Kallig's chosen one.

Backstory Overview: Lynnoris was the final child of her slave-born parents. She was separated from her sisters when she was 7, and was placed in to an orphanage after the death of her slaver. She was there for around a year until she was discovered to be Force-sensitive, at which point she was taken by a Jedi knight named Dud Sulcor. Dud trained her until she was placed under Yuon Par at 16, beginning her journey to become a Jedi master.

When Iofio was eventually taken by the Sith and Lynnoris escaped her radar, she panicked. She years later took on the Great Hunt, hoping she would gain enough notoriety for them to find her...

Home of the Sigil Court

Sigil Court

The remains of an ancient fae monarchy that fled a losing war with a rival court in the UK sometime in the 1400s.

Ruled by His Eminence, His Grace, Lord Aetherius.

Lord Aetherius found the human, Morgan Fay, ‘charmingly brazen’ when she approached his throne, and granted her restraining order.

He would not undo the curse set upon her husband, however.

He sees potential in Morgan’s magical workings, and wants to see if the curse will motivate her to learn how to undo it herself.

Lord Aetherius considers Gawain a “freelance” (a knight without a lord), and has attempted to lure him into service in his own court.

Will treat Mystery as an honored guest, but would prefer to not host the kitsune (or any other powerful supernaturals, really….he doesn’t like the competition).

Former home court of Sulcore (the fae who propositioned Morgan and cursed Lucius).

The court at large prefers to keep to city limits, and considers Sigil City their exclusive territory.

They are considered a ‘Summer’ court, though they have no direct competition in their area.

Gawain does his best to respect the court’s boundaries, and is low-key afraid of Lord Aetherius.

Sigil City has no resident hero, and - rather like Batman - the court isn’t very fond of outsiders meddling in their city.

The court is currently in a dangerous stalemate with a vampire coven that set down roots in the city underground.

Gawain once had to approach the Sigil court with a few other League members, in pursuit of a villain that had gotten powers through the ex-court member, Sulcore.

His Eminence, His Grace, King Aetherius mistook Wonder Woman for Gawain’s liege, as she was leading the mission, and kept offering her semi-dubious offers of exchange for his ‘favorite freelance’.

To Gawain’s immense relief, Diana graciously turned down all offers.
