Little Nightmares 2 Ending Theory
WARNING: Spoilers for the story/ending of Little Nightmares 2 ahead!
So I finally finished watching SuperHorrorBro’s playthrough of Little Nightmares 2 last night, and while the ending gutted me like a fish (I literally cried myself to sleep, I was so emotional) after thinking it over throughout the day, I’m starting to like the ending a lot more, mostly through my own theory/interpretation.
The basis for my theory is this; Six didn’t betray Mono. No, Mono sacrificed himself to save her.
I believe that from the moment Mono watched as the Thin Man stole Six away, he knew his fate was sealed. In that moment, Mono chose to go rescue her, all the while knowing it wouldn’t end well for him.
Throughout this game, we’ve been shown not through words, but through actions how much Mono and Six care about each other. All the times Six has counted on Mono to come back for/save her, all the times Mono has trusted Six to catch/throw him, all the moments they worked in-sync to escape certain death, etc. These two care very deeply for each other, and would do pretty much anything to keep the other safe.
By the time the duo has gotten through the hospital, they trust each other with little hesitation or doubt, so you can imagine Mono’s horror when the Thin Man took his best friend from him, and the amount of dread he felt at the prospect of trying to fight such an unbeatable force of nature.
For context real quick, I also believe that Mono knows a lot more about the universe he’s in than we’re able to see from gameplay alone. In fact, I believe that before the game even began, Mono was being raised similarly to the Pretender in VLN, in that he was being groomed in preparation to someday become the next controller of the signal tower. However, likely just before the game started, Mono ran away, donning his paper bag in order to keep from being recognized by the Pale City’s inhabitants.
I think that at first, Mono just wanted to take down the signal tower by himself or run away from his destiny, but once he met Six and escaped the Hunter with her, he became determined to now only keep her company, but keep her safe from the terrifying world he’s been trapped in all his life.
So back to the last chapter of LN2. Once Mono defeated the Thin Man (who may have been his own father because I can’t let that theory go) and entered the signal tower in search of his friend, I believe he learned the truth; he realized that the tower- and by extension, possibly the entire world- cannot exist without a monster of some kind living within it’s walls. Whether that’s just a random victim of the Thin Man’s occasional kidnappings (the shadow children, Six, etc) or someone with the power to control and manipulate the signal however they see fit (the Thin Man, Mono, etc) doesn’t matter; so long as the tower has a body, it won’t destroy itself, and by extension, the world.
Instead of just turning tail and leaving Six behind to be that body, Mono made a decision; that he would be the sacrifice, if only so Six could survive.
Cut to after the boss fight with Six, and Mono jumps to her as the tower crumbles around him. As we saw, Six manages to catch him just in the nick of time, but as she goes to pull him up, Mono mouths a message to her; “Let go.” At first, Six is confused- why would Mono want to be dropped? He saved her; this is their chance to escape!- but Mono just shakes his head and continues to mouth the words to her. Finally, perhaps while crying at the loss, Six lets him go, forced to watch as Mono plummets to what she believes is his death.
Mono doesn’t scream on the way down. Why would he? It was his idea, after all.
In the end, Six escapes what would’ve been her end, only to be haunted by the part of her left behind by the Thin Man, the phantom a grim reminder of the friend she had to lose in order to make it this far. In the meantime, Mono takes his fated place in the signal tower, slowly but surely growing to become the next Thin Man and take his rightful place as the signal tower’s next ruler. He couldn’t escape his destiny in the end, but it’s not so bad if it means he got to rescue his best friend in the process.
So no, I don’t think LN2 is meant to be a paradox or time-loop (and not only because I fucking hate paradox stories). I think Mono knew his fate earlier than we as the audience did, and instead of running from it in order to save himself, he chose to give up his freedom so that he could save the person he loved. It’s not a happy ending by any means, but it doesn’t have to be. Mono did what he thought was right, and I don’t think Six will ever forget that (or forgive herself, but that’s another story altogether).
((I’m sorry if this theory sucks; I’m very new to Little Nightmares lore, but I really like the universe!))

Why isn’t anyone really talking about this?
Right after I watched the Villainous Pilot and read the “Goldheart is Flug’s brother” theory, the first thing that came to my mind was a scene from the Mojo Jojo Villain Orientation Guide video, and I’m surprised that no one has been really talking about it. It’s a major clue to what we’ve been theorizing!
I’ve just started using Tumblr a while ago so I thought I’d share my thoughts
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Continuously, I felt crushed by your physical powers, and my brilliant achievements went unnoticed.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“I understand you, little Mojo. Keep going ahead! You can do it!”
...
gUYS-
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This sadistic man has tortured countless people over the years and yet this makes him cry. Why? Because, according to Flug himself, he relates to Mojo.
This could be some major foreshadowing about Flug’s backstory and how his intellect might have gone unnoticed by his family, overshadowed by his brother’s physical powers, driving him to become a villain, just like Mojo Jojo.
But that’s just a theory, A Villainous Theory!

I’m pretty sure I’m wrong, but @supercasey pointed out an interesting moment in ep.10, and a very small part of me hopes it might actually be Melinda.
Tumblr media
Don said they’ve already sent word to El Rey. Considering the theory about Melinda being the South governor...
Tumblr media
...and the fact that The Oasis is in the southwest (south-southwest?), might the message be intercepted by her people? Or might they just somehow hear the rumor that Don caught the Nomad?
And if this really happened, I bet Melinda would get to The Oasis as soon as possible. Maybe coming there this fast sounds far-fetched, but... magic, y’know.
Oh, and that old outfit? Just a cover-up to look like a usual person.
Tumblr media
The next scene is Don ranting about how happy he is to see everyone here bla bla bla. It’s almost the end of the day, which explains why Melinda was in a rush. It’d be easier to help the Nomad escape before the celebration begins, but she’s a little late.
Welp. I guess it was just a Nomad’s hallucination anyway. Or RT want him and us think it was.

Theory Time: Flug has Powers
So as I'm sure most of you know by now, it seems the Villainous crew (at least Flug) have Instagram now, and after following the account and checking through the posts (of which there are only three so far), one post in particular caught my eye, and is what I'll be using as evidence/what I'll be dissecting.
Tumblr media
So this is the post in question. At first glance, it just seems like a really sloppy attempt at a picture, but tbh how tf do you mess a picture up that bad with such a bright flash? And how did that flash even happen!? Here's Flug's explanation for it below:
Tumblr media
So this was a selfie? How!? Well, I think I have an explanation (BTW, the message in binary reads "Stop making fun of me! You don't know who you're dealing with! Troglodytes!" but that's not as important to the theory):
I think Flug has powers. More specifically, I think his powers have to do with why he wears the paper bag.
Recently it's been highly believed that Goldheart, the superhero from Flug's dream, is his older brother (a theory brought up by gabygirl1243, whose post I will link to. It's in Spanish, but Google Translate makes it easier to read if you can't read Spanish). Here's a pic of Goldheart for reference:
Tumblr media
(Screenshot taken by gabygirl1243)
Notice how his power (if Flug's dream is accurate) allows him to glow? I believe if that if Goldheart and Flug are truly brothers, that Flug also has the ability to glow, but not like his brother can. What do I mean by this? Well, in the dream we can also see that Goldheart is hovering/flying, something Flug can't do. So here is my theory in full:
Not only are Goldheart and Flug brothers, but Goldheart is the one with more impressive/just plain more superpowers. Sure, Flug can glow, but it's only his face and head (think of if as one of the shittier powers you'd see in Sky High or something), but Goldheart, gosh dang, his whole body can glow, and he can fly!!! That's amazing!
Naturally, Flug and Goldheart's parents begin to favor their eldest son (no evidence really that Goldheart is older other than height but that's how I imagine it) over Flug, working their hardest to make sure Goldheart becomes an amazing superhero like them (BTW this also supports the "Flug comes from a superhero family" theory which I will also leave a link to). Meanwhile, Flug is cast aside by parents and continually belittled for wanting to become a superhero (this links to a fanart pic someone did of Hero!Flug), as his powers just "aren't good enough".
One day, Flug runs away, using a plane he stole to fly off into the sunset, only to be shot down by Black Hat. Sure, Black Hat doesn't like Flug's powers all that much (he makes him wear a bag over his head because Jesus Christmas that shit is bright!) but he recognizes that Flug is insanely intelligent, and proceeds to take the boy under his wing.
That's all I have for now, but feel free to theorize off of this if you want to! And please remember to check out gabygirl1243's original theory post, as well as the post suggesting that Flug's from a superhero family! Thanks for reading!

My Theories as to what's underneath Flug's bag
I dunno this just seemed like a fun idea lmao. Feel free to add your own ideas as well!
Just a regular freaking dude. Very lame.
Someone the public in universe would recognize, so he has to wear the bag so no one knows it's him.
The mask covers some really horrific facial scars (this is a popular hc I've seen and although it's not my personal hc I still think it's a neat idea).
Flug is self conscious about his appearance/is trans and uncomfortable with removing the bag because he's early on with taking testosterone (trans rights baybee).
Flug is one of the secret agents that was looking into BH's organization (check out Cartoon Universe's video for more on these guys) and has either had his memory wiped or has developed Stockholm Syndrome. Possibly both. Mask keeps the agents that are still alive/active from realizing it's him.
The idea I actually give a fuck about/want to believe is real: Flug is Black Hat's illegitimate son that he either A), just got ahold of recently so he only just found out he has a kid and is trying to keep it under wraps, or B), he raised Flug but still doesn't recognize him as his offspring so Flug is forced to wear the bag in order to hide his face since he looks too much like his dad under there (or like his other parent??? maybe BH misses them but I dunno, I don't think he can love though according to Alan??? Could be wrong).
That's literally all I have (you can tell I only really wanted to screech about that last theory).

Reasons I believe in the "Flug is Black Hat's illegitimate son" theory
To begin with, this is not an attack against Paper/hat fans or in any way a super likely theory; this is just me having fun and messing around because I like this theory. So here's my evidence/things that I think justify this theory:
Flug regularly calls Black Hat "jefe", and although I'm not a native Spanish speaker, I understand that the word jefe is oftentimes slang for "dad", something I find very interesting coming Flug. I could see this being brushed off as Flug being a kissass or him poking fun, but making fun of BH seems unwise, and it's already been stated that Black Hat hates being called dad/daddy (at least by 505), so I just find it strange that he calls Black Hat this and manages to get away with it.
Despite obviously being a genius (and possibly smarter than Black Hat himself) Flug stays working for BH, even when it means he gets hit and yelled at. Why does he stay??? He could be a prisoner (something I have speculated about in the past), but then again, he could be working for Black Hat because it's all he's ever believed he can do with his life.
Flug is constantly trying to get Black Hat's approval and attention, something Alan himself has admitted to be true. I don't know about y'all, but as a dude, I can totally relate with wanting your father's approval (even if it's a bit of a hopeless endeavor in Flug's case).
It's already been established by Alan that Black Hat and 505 are at least to some degree symbolic of the relationship between Alan and his own father, so what's stopping him from doing the same type of relationship between Flug and Black Hat, but in a more "teenage son wants to make his father proud" sort of way?
Flug is forbidden from removing his mask, and as it's been recently discussed at a panel, this is Black Hat's doing, not Flug's (something I know caught a lot of people by surprise). Why does BH not want Flug to show his face? Could he look like someone relatively famous to the public? Or is he an illegitimate son that looks just a little too much like his daddy (or papi in this case).
I've seen it pointed out before that, despite Black Hat's violent and oftentimes amoral behavior, he seems to go visibly easier on Flug (answering questions for/responding to Flug during training videos despite not showing any interest in doing so for anyone else, doesn't actually hurt him during the Halloween short, jokes around a little with Flug in a few clips, etc) and while that could just be me and others looking at their interactions too closely, I still think it's worth mentioning.
Flug is seen in the background of a few photographs/paintings on Black Hat's wall (I don't have any pictures for reference right now, sorry) so it's obvious Flug's been with him for awhile. Even more interesting is the fact that Flug, a supposedly "lowly employee" is even allowed in the photos, seeing as most of the paintings/photos seem to be around just to brush BH's ego! It's almost as if he's Black Hat's heir or something...
Flug really dotes on 505, and I mean, yeah, that's because 505 is like his son, but... What if it wasn't always that way? What if Flug made 505, gave him to Black Hat, witnessed BH reject the bear cub, and decided he wasn't going to leave 505 without a father figure? Almost like he's filling in the void his own father left in him, and he wants to make sure 505 never feels like he did as a child.
That's pretty much all I have at the moment, but I might add more as ideas/more evidence comes to me. Again, this is in no way meant to be taken too seriously, but it's a theory that I'm beginning to believe more and more with each day, and I hope others will enjoy it as well!

Villainous Fan Theory: Flug's Been Brainwashed/Has Stockholm Syndrome
Okay, hear me out here... I know I've been one to spout some shitposts, but I've had this theory in mind for a bit now. I feel like this could be honest to God legitimate in Villainous and I'd like to see what others think.
I’mma put this under a readmore because I’m a merciful bastard
MY THEORY
Dr. Flug, before being forced into Black Hat's servitude, was a famous scientist of some sort (possibly worked for superheroes), but while either riding in/flying a plane, was shot down and held captive by Black Hat, who's brainwashed him into becoming his own personal inventor. Flug is completely unaware of who he was prior to this (save for childhood memories, hinting at short term memory loss but I’m not knowledgeable enough in memory loss to diagnose him) and therefore doesn't know that he's been kidnapped.
MY REASONING
Flug Slys, as far as we know, apparently came to the mansion “by plane". So far, no one knows how this happened, and more importantly, no one knows who he was beforehand (as cute as the name Flug Slys is, it literally means "flight accident" in German (although Google Translate told me it’s Icelandic)). I recently saw a video by Cartoon Universe on YouTube about Villainous that showed hidden lore from the training videos (would highly recommend it, as it's very interesting)!
To sum up the video; an organization (likely a branch of a currently unknown government) seems to be trying to infiltrate Black Hat's organization, but Black Hat is aware of them and has (reportedly) already "taken out" three of them, leaving only two left (that we know of). I could see people saying that Flug could be one of the people he's "taken out", but seeing as Flug was already an established character in the videos when they were all alive/active, I'mma say that theory is busted.
Then why did I mention it? Because if a shadow government organization is looking into Black Hat, that clearly means the guy isn't all talk; he's a lot more vicious than he looks, and he definitely has a hidden agenda.
So how does this fit with Flug? I think Flug is pretty valuable to Black Hat, and could very well be an essential character for his hidden agenda. Black Hat will never admit it, but he needs Flug for a variety of reasons, the biggest being that Flug seems to be the mastermind behind almost all of Black Hat's inventions.
Which begs the question; why does Flug even work for Black Hat? It seems a bit strange that Flug does all the work while Black Hat gets most if not all of the credit. This makes it seem more and more likely that Black Hat has somehow either A), blackmailed Flug into working for him, or B), is holding Flug hostage. I'm about to debunk both of those, because there's a third option.
Option A isn't too hard to debunk (at least through obvious behaviors that we’ve seen from Flug). See, Flug seems... Incredibly excited about his job. I don't imagine most people who have been blackmailed would like torturing others, not to mention that he's really eager to please Black Hat. This, in turn, also eliminates option B. So why is Flug working for Black Hat? Simple; he doesn't realize he's been kidnapped, and wholeheartedly believes he's a super villain/mad scientist.
But why??? Well, I personally think (and this is gonna get a bit into headcanon territory) that Black Hat does have the know-how to create his own inventions, he just hates putting time and effort into it. With this in mind, I believe he usually just kidnaps/hires inventors to work under him and pump out evil devices that he’s already designed (although I wouldn’t be surprised if Flug’s started making his own in recent times).
I'm guessing at some point, he either got sick of hiring people legitimately/paying his employees or he killed his last inventor and set his sights on someone more famous/well known for their authenticity and results: enter Flug!
I'll be 100% honest, I have no idea who Flug was before he was... well, Flug. Again, I really don't think he's any of the secret agents (save maybe for the two that are still alive, which wouldn’t be too surprising) so I think that, before he was Black Hat's inventor, he either worked for superheroes or was just a famous scientist of some kind.
Obviously, seeing how smart he was, Black Hat wanted the kid! But alas, either Flug rejected his original offer or, ya know, he may have very well been working for superheroes and therefore wouldn’t have wanted to work for Black Hat. So what's a guy to do... well, if you're Black Hat, you shoot the guy you want to hire out of the sky while he's out having fun, drag him home, traumatize him to the point of Stockholm Syndrome, then lock him in the basement and leave him to invent things.
Again, I'm thinking we'll have to wait until the show's creator comes out and says how Flug came to live with Black Hat before there's anything concrete, but I feel like it makes sense. I've seen a few people pointing out screenshots with posters in the lab ordering Flug to not try and run away, and compared to Demencia- who we've seen is allowed to run off and fuck around- Flug doesn't seem to have much freedom (Hell, at the end of the Q&A, Flug fearfully screamed "But I live here!" when Black Hat snapped at the villains for being in his house.
This all comes off pretty nonsensical, but I think it might be true! I mean, come on; I wouldn't be surprised if Flug had Stockholm Syndrome considering how obsessive he is about gaining Black Hat's approval, especially seeing how obvious it should be that he'll never get that from him.
Also!!! Almost forgot; I think Flug's situation could also explain how 505 came to be! Even if he was just a "happy accident" according to the canon, perhaps he wasn't as much of an accident as we think? Perhaps, while unknowingly longing to return home, Flug made himself something to care for and love, which would in turn love him back.
And why hasn't Black Hat destroyed 505? Because his very existence is keeping Flug from running away. Even on the off chance that Flug realizes what’s happened to him, he loves his big bear son, and he'll do anything to protect him... even live in an abusive and messed up situation to keep him alive. ((BTW I have no idea if Demencia is aware of any of this... I feel like she knows Flug doesn't have as many "rights" as her, so she picks on him a lot, but I don't think she's fully in on the kidnapping situation)).
I dunno, it's a lot, and again I really recommend watching the video I mentioned, but I think this could be something big. Thanks for sticking around and reading this nonsense!

Twins Theory, AKA I ruin everything with my dumbass theory that makes no sense
Alright, strap in, I'mma light your asses up with my shitty fan theory that's Matpat levels of crazy/probable. I'm dubbing this theory the “Twins Theory” for reasons that will become boringly obvious as we progress.
((Huge props to @bl00dw1tch for making the Nodad Theory, which I'm gonna base a lot of this theory on. I adore that theory and it’s only reason this one exists.))
So I’ll start with just saying it outright- I have reason to believe that Skout and the (current) Nomad are twins/siblings of some sort (I’m going to go with the assumption that they’re twins throughout the theory so get ready for that). ((Putting this under a fucking readmore so I can spare the general public of my rambling))
My reasoning for this dumbass theory? Well, in episode 1 we caught a glimpse of this mystery woman:
Tumblr media
Followed soon after with Skout appearing where the woman had been:
Tumblr media
Now, the resemblance is absolutely uncanny, and I’ve heard plenty of theories flying around (mostly people thinking that this was an image of something the Nomad desires, aka he wants Skout to stay with him in the woods/marry him), but my favorite by far has been bl00dw1tch’s Nodad Theory, which states that the current Nomad we’re seeing in the show is NOT the original Nomad, and that he’s in fact the son of said Nomad (implying that the vision we see was a childhood memory of some kind). I feel like this makes sense (and it’s honestly preferable to a love triangle between Skout, Toth, and the Nomad. Please RT, I’m begging you, don’t start that kinda shit).
So even if we’re going with everything in the Nodad Theory, it leaves one HUGE question unanswered- why does Skout look EXACTLY like this mystery woman??? Does she just remind the Nomad of his mother? I think there’s a better- if not ludicrous- explanation for this: Skout is the Nomad’s sister/twin.
Let’s start at the beginning: long ago, as we know, El Rey began to wipe out the country/world’s entire population of magic users to feed his magic crown. Along comes a Nomad (perhaps a user of darker magics, I’ll get into my Shitty Father!Nodad rant later), who most certainly doesn’t want to get vored by a magic crown. So he flees to a remote forest, and along the way falls in love with a sweet, southern redhead. After (possibly kidnapping, I’ll get into that later) running away with her to the forest, he accidentally (or purposefully) knocks her up, and oh no, she has twins!
Twins are a handful, but they manage, and I assume it’s around the three or four years old mark that magic would start showing in either kid… but it only shows up in Nomad Jr, not Skout. Well, great. Not only does one of Nodad’s kids have magic, but the other one (seemingly) doesn’t. Now, this is where my theory splits, but I’m primarily going to go with the Shitty Dad AU for a number of reasons:
The Nomad’s Magic has, notably, been quoted to be Dark Magic. This implies that not only is there Light/Good Magic in this universe, but that the current Nomad has been taught to ONLY USE Dark Magic. Seems a bit… messed up, huh?
Why exactly is the Nomad being hunted (BESIDES the fact that El Rey wants to vore him)? Sure, El Rey obviously wants his magic, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they revealed that Nodad was a bad guy long before El Rey started fucking things up.
(FIRST Members ONLY, this bit is based on something in episode 8) Every time someone says “Hostage” in episode 8, the Nomad grabs Skout’s hand, almost like he’s doing it out if instinct. Why does he do that? Was Mystery Woman (his mom) a hostage? Was she kidnapped and forced to have Nodad’s kids? This honestly killed any chance for me that Nodad was a good guy.
Okay, back to the backstory: so Nodad’s got one out of two kids who doesn’t have magic, and as a Dark Magic user, he can’t waste his time watching some magic-less kid all day- not when he has little Nomad Jr to start training. Cue another split decision, because I could see this going one of two ways: either A, Nodad took Skout and gave her away to a passing caravan, or B, Mystery Woman ran away with Skout to escape her kidnapper and raise her only magic-less child in peace. From there, things are up in the air. I imagine during Nomad Jr’s earlier teens/early childhood, Nodad (and Mystery Woman, if it was option A) dies, leaving Nomad Jr to fend for himself.
He of course never leaves the forest- good ole’ Nodad made sure to teach him while he was young to never wander far from home (cue the big DO NOT LEAVE sign). So he stays there, with only one real magic trick up his sleeve from what Nodad was able to teach him before he died… that is, until a familiar looking redhead happens upon him. The reason they don’t recognize each other? They would’ve been separated at a VERY young age, before they could start building any real memories (but if this is the case, how would option B exist? How would Nomad Jr know what his mom looked like? Simple; From old pictures/drawings of her, and from vague memories of her voice, he could very easily build up a fake memory of her), so there’s no chance that they’ll recognize each other (and Nodad would NEVER let Nomad Jr know he has a twin sister out there- can’t risk his son running away to find her).
((Alright, that’s pretty much all I have, but I have some vaguely related rambling down below for those of you who are interested))
If they’re twins, I really like the name Hunter (or Humter if it’s spelled weird like Skout’s is) for Nomad Jr??? I love when twin’s names are alike in some way, and I feel like this name fits him really well- if you don’t agree, feel free to hit me up with alternative names for our favorite Nomad.
The Glowy Chest Thing. That’s fucking weird as shit, but I have an explanation that ties (at the very least) into the Nodad and Shitty!Nodad Theories. Ever heard the quote “Sins of the Father are the fall of the Son?” I wouldn’t put it past RT to pull something like that into the show, especially considering their history with “kids cleaning up their shitty parents messes” ((rvb I’m looking at you)). So basically, because of all the horrible things Nodad (possibly) did in the past, Nomad is now making up for those crimes with good deeds, slowly but surely making amends for his father’s mistakes ((I’ve heard theories that if he does enough good deeds he’ll regain his voice??? Kinda hope that doesn’t happen, since I want him to stay mute, but whatever)).
((Again, this next bit is for FIRST members only. Read this one if you’ve watched the new episode)) My prediction for the next episode (after episode 8): Now that Skout and the Nomad have joined up, I think that Skout is going to try and take him to her old home in order to hide. I think that this, if my theory is correct, will reveal which route was taken. Either the Nomad will unknowingly be reunited with his mother (or knowingly. Cue a tearful reunion), or he will at the very least learn that Skout was adopted by her family (perhaps that’s why she joined Toth and left home??? Did they lie to her growing up and she found out and ran away as a result???), possibly opening the door for the Twin Theory to start being revealed.
This is an insane, probably wrong, theory, but I really freaking like it. I might write a fic for it even, so stay tuned. And if I’m right… holy shit.

Wait, Paul's trans? Never picked that up, I need to do another rewatch
In my opinion, he is! The most common/obvious evidence I've seen for the "Paul is Care" theory is the following (and at this point, I consider it damn near canon):
1. Early on in the it's confirmed that Paul and Care have the exact same birthday, plus they apparently look very similar (both pieces of information are given to us by Paul himself).
2. In one of the episodes (can't remember off the top of my head which it is) Paul does something that prompts the game to show him a series of text blocks that reenact a conversation he had with his mother and aunt during his last birthday; in this conversation, Care acts as him, complete with talking in yellow text.
3. When in the schoolhouse, Paul is continually dragged to the girl poster, which will eventually force him into the counseling session in one of the later episodes. Before this, he continually tries to avoid this area, and can be heard audibly button mashing in frustration when he's dragged back to the poster each time. The song playing is also called "Girl World".
4. Care's color in the series is Yellow, while Paul's color is Red; when Paul arrives to Care's birthday party, he is given a yellow balloon and continually referred to as Care.
5. In the counselor scene, Paul reenacts one of Care's therapy sessions post-rescue. During this scene, the counselor says that they called for Care many times, but that she didn't come right away, prompting him to ask if they used the name wrong. In response, "Care" tells the counselor that her name is Paul.
6. At the very end of the story, Paul "rebirths" Care into a red and yellow striped egg, further signifying their connection.
7. One of the most common themes in Petscop (to me and a lot of other people) is the idea that trauma can completely and utterly change someone, to the point that they are not the same person they were before undergoing said trauma (for example, Care is referred to as "Care A" before she was kidnapped by Marvin, becoming "Care B" when subjected to his abuse, and eventually "Care NLM" (Nobody Loves Me) after she escaped, the game treating them all as different pets/people) and it wouldn't be a huge leap in logic to believe that after everything he went through, Care transitioned and became Paul.
With most of my evidence out of the way, I'll admit that I've seen some people argue that the "Paul is Care" theory is problematic because it might imply that Care's family forced her to transition in order to hide her from Marvin better, but I personally believe that Care made the decision to transition on her own, and even if she hadn't been abused, she still would've transitioned later on in life.
At the end of the day, this is only a theory, but it's a theory I hold near and dear to my heart, and am happy to see popularized in the community. If you think Paul isn't Care/trans, that's fine, but I'm gonna keep seeing him as such, especially now that the series is over (I think it is at least; you can never be a 100% sure with these sorts of things).
