#TBT to that one time I braved the cold AF ocean in a dirndl to hit 3 birds w/ one stone. If you’re a hardcore fan of @teamtotzek & @teamkapp.roehrs like I am, then you know they have a tendency to jump into water in the middle of a tournament so this #Coronado #beach #photoshoot is a direct homage to their #polarplunge proclivities. It must be a 25 & under tendency because Daniel Magnusson likes to polar plunge too 🥶 This is also a take on my favorite streamer Valkyrae’s red suit beach photo shoot. Interestingly enough, Rae is half Filipino & half German 😬 The final reason for why I did this photo shoot was purely scientific - okay maybe consumer science - I needed to do a water/wear test on the Il Makiage makeup I recently got. Props to the Urban Decay setting spray for holding down the fort. My whole body was submerged in water at one point & my makeup held up 👍 . . I never did a post-European Championships post for my Germans so I’m YOINKING the @team_schoell_harsch one & adding to it. I can’t believe @klaudiusharsch left off the 2 hats pic 🧢 I confess, I was THIS close to memeing him w/ that pic 😂 Speaking of hats, thank you Bobby for NOT wearing a hat during the team intro vid 😜 Bummed that @teamtotzek didn’t make playoffs given their strong start at the Euros, but the strength of the field was too much this year, even my Swedes had a lot of issues. ICYMI: @teamtotzek gave the undefeated Italians quite a chase at the #ECC2022 earlier today. The 3 vids showcase highlight reel worthy shots & great teamwork. LOL “Plan A the lucky way” 😂 I know it’s a bummer my Germans couldn’t pull off the win, but nevertheless, I am so proud of how they’ve done so far. Both the loss to SCO & ITA were in tight, close games. My Adings are hanging in there against the medal favorites. Going into the event my ideal situation was a SWE v GER final because by now we all know I love the Germans the most after the Swedes. With the way things are going, SWE & GER might be fighting over that last playoff spot at the end of the week. If they finish w/ the same records it’ll come down to LSD which I believe is on SWE’s side, but we’ll cross that bridge when we get there. I’m just glad my Germans are the silver lining to this event - I’m going through massive Nik Edin withdrawal & no patch can help (that’s a dad joke). I’ve heard commentators say in the past that gone are the days when you hide the worst player on your team in the second position. Indeed, the elite curlers all have to be at the top of their respective games at any position, and @rasmuswrana is the best second in the world. He may be the youngest @teamniklasedin member, but he sure can hang w/ the best of them. I’m still exhausted just watching Jr sweep this weekend. I hope one day I can be just a fraction of a percent the #SweepingBeast that he is 💪💪 It was a team effort to win Olympic gold, but IMHO Rasmus played the key role in that victory, just as his powerful sweeping and quick reactions were key to ending the #GSOC title drought. Bummed that Germany’s run at #WMxCC2022 ended w/ a loss in the QF to Scotland. They were undefeated up until that point, and I was really hoping for a Germany vs Sweden final. But alas, it wasn’t meant to be. Happy I got to see my Germans competing these past few days, especially since Josh isn’t part of the regular Team Totzek lineup this season. Poor Joshi swept a lot this week, I got exhausted just watching him. Hard to believe #WJCC2022 is over. Bummed my #Adings had a rough day during the final, but Ate is still super proud of @teamkapp for winning silver. And yes, they won silver! It’s easy to forget that sometimes, but there are some Canadians & Norwegians who’d rather trade places right now 😜 In the end, I feel like Craik just had a little more experience than Kapp and leaned on that experience enough to get the victory. . . To borrow a page from what 🐐 Niklas Edin said in an interview about his 2018 Olympic loss - it’s not like they played a bad game, they just faced a team w/ more experience. I’m paraphrasing a little but basically Nik said he lost to someone who was playing in his 4th Olympics (Shuster). 4 years later he got to be the guy playing in his 4th Olympics & the one who took home Olympic gold, seemingly against all odds because everyone & their mom basically already handed Mouat the gold even before the Olympics started. Craik played second for Whyte when Scotland got bronze in 2019 & then skipped the Scottish team to another bronze in 2020. This was Benny’s first year at World Juniors & he skipped his team to silver 👏 I’m so proud & my heart is full of hope for next year. @bennykapp @felix.messenzehl & @johannes.scheuerl have 2 more cracks at getting that Worlds gold 👊💪 #Füssen next year would be prime timing 😉 Oh how I wish I could be there to cheer in person. . . Super proud of @teamkapp on their performance at #WJCC2022 Ate is super proud of her #Adings and have full faith in their abilities to build upon this year. It’s going to interesting finding out what the team will look like next season as Magnus & Klaudius age out of juniors and what effect if any home advantage will have since Füssen will host the next World Juniors. The Germans are more than capable of getting over the hump & getting that historic, elusive Worlds gold. How I will remember Team Kapp from the 2022 World Juniors is best encapsulated in the highlights vide of the semifinal game vs Canada.
