     Something inside him lost its footing, snapped. If anyone between the two of them is meant to get hurt, it's the conman, the criminal with enemies depending on who you ask. Not the artisan that's carrying emotional baggage that he folds under so frequently around Sampo.

     Tight hold is still mindful of the bandaging he'd caught a glimpse of upon entering. Nose nuzzles blond tresses, doesn't dare dislodge the compromised man from him. Though, the tightening of his chest is unsure that it wants this. Or perhaps it does, but the only response that comes to mind is to retreat  &&  not show genuine concern.

With notification of the plans completion and the invitation it included, Childe was certainly surprised to say the least. He was a diplomat yet he felt he found himself always doing more business than pleasure. Parties, dinners or affairs of the like never seemed to be something that came his way. But he thought why not, Kaveh was interesting to be around and, surely, it'd be rude to turn it down?

But what happened after he set foot past the threshold seemed to blur. One drink became two, two became four and Childe had many strengths but his ability to hold his liquor was not one of them. His body felt warm, his head felt a little light, and at some point his hand was cupping the blonde's cheek, parting his lips. "Yeah?" He chuckled under his breath "not bad yourself." What the hell was he doing...? He couldnt seem to think past the colour of the eyes of the man in front of him.

Argenti was, of course, always up for helping someone in need. Though the man had passed out, it seemed he was cognizant enough in his sleep to answer where he lived. Given it was a stranger he would have been happy to leave him in the care of his loved ones, but it seemed no one was home at the time.

And what sort of person would he be to just leave someone alone like that? So he’d carried the poor man in and set him down on the couch, taking a seat to the side and keeping an eye on him until he fully awoke.

To Argenti’s credit, he wasn’t surprised at all that this man would jump in surprise at a stranger being in his home.

He stood, giving Kaveh a bow. “My name is Argenti. I encountered you as you passed out, and couldn’t bring myself to leave you be. Fear not, I have no intention of causing you harm. I simply wanted to ensure you returned home and woke up safely.”

It never did get any easier, dealing with losses like this. Even it was just a natural part of his job, it still never got easier. He'd been at this for years now, but still felt so new to it all. In truth, he knew he was still young and that, with time, these feelings with steadily weigh on him less and less. But for now, he couldn't help but feel as though he were at fault.

"They were my responsibility, Yingxing... and I let them down..." He said, his voice barely above a whisper as he tried to combat the emotions swaying within him. He was injured, but he didn't care. A minor issue compared to those who'd been lost in this fight. "What sort of lieutenant am I if I cannot even keep my men safe?" He questioned before letting out a bitter laugh. "I'm a joke..." He shook his head, silence settling in for just a moment. Finally he let out a sigh, his gaze settling upon the ground now as he let his hands settle in his lap. "Perhaps I should quit while I still have the time..." He mused quietly. "Maybe I just wasn't cut out to be a Cloud Knight after all..."

He arched an eyebrow at Kaveh, simply going back to his book after giving him a pointed look. There were a lot more drinks in front of his companion than there were in front of himself.

"Even if the first part of your statement were true, I never look stupid." And he flipped the page in his book.

there's a sharp exhale from the doctor as he hears his name from a voice he knows all too well. he turns only slightly, just enough to see aventurine swaggering toward him in his peripheral. it figures that he would be summoned to a place like penacony and it figures that veritas would now have to share a ride with the stoneheart.

Adrian spins left then right, showing off the details of their newest gown with a delightfully coy smile.  Jewels catch in the light, curls hang past the curve of their hips.  The smooth skin of a thigh peeks out from silk fabric as they step closer.  "I would hope so. I wore it especially for you, my darling."  Fingertips trail down his coat, eyes drinking in the sight of Yingxing all dressed up for the evening.  He is an artist through and through, with an eye for aesthetics even in the clothing he wears.

"And dare I say, you look unbelievably handsome. I'll be fighting men and women off of you all night."  And they are more than prepared to fight for their Yingxing.  Adrian leans forward, lips pressing against the corner of his lips like the tease they are.

"That was my intention. After all, I had just gotten out of the shower." He only sat down for a brief moment in attempt to cool off. For whatever reason, the water was much hotter than usual.

Of course. He should have expected as much. Ratio was never the type to be swayed so easily. His personality left some things to be desired, but he'd always been able to sense there was good in him. Try as he might to brush off those he deemed less intelligent than him, his was not a heart of stone. Clearly if he was willing to help someone that most considered to be unworthy of their time and effort, then there had to be something in his chest behind that... well, firm exterior.

Not the time for that... The blond sighed and shook his head, allowing himself to lean against the taller male, a frown settling on his lips. "You act as if I haven't been in trouble before. I am perfectly capable of taking care of myself." He said, pulling his gaze upward for a moment. "However... since you are insisting... I suppose I would be a fool not to accept your help." He scoffed. "And no one here wants to be placed in the same category as them."

          ❝ You're allowing it to happen this way, ❞  he shoots back. Not malicious in tone, but clear that he's not sure how to deal with the question. Just knows that Kaveh doesn't intend for it to be rhetorical, even if it sounds like it could be. 

     Jades sweep downward, looking over the artisan briefly. It doesn't get old, hasn't gotten stale. That's good. Not that he's used to making people a habit, but Kaveh had clearly become one at some point.  ❝ I'll keep coming back to you until you tell me to go away, ❞  even if he disappears for an extended period of time, there's still truth to be had there. He likes the other to not take advantage of their arrangement.

Childe did his best to absorb the words being flung at him by the architect. Very passionate words, at that. The stab-first comment tickled him for some reason. And this... Alhaithem guy, hm? He felt like he'd heard that name before.

"I can understand-" The harbinger began, rather amused by the intensity of this man's character, "that you're very into your bricks and scribbles." Childe had seen all types of buildings and architecture in his travels, all of which he could appreciate as much as the next guy. Unless the next guy was this guy. Then there was no way.

The harbinger tried to bring it back to the topic at hand, Dottore having dropped another silly task on him- another project he was sure he'd get bored of. But at least the task had been handed to him by a Fatuu and not personally...

"So do you think you can handle it?" Another research facility in Sumeru... He wasnt about to question it. "We have the funds, so money isn't an issue."

"Oooh, is this one of those flowers you can only find in Sumeru? This is pretty!" And if she remembers correctly through about the book about language of foreign flowers that they displayed over Yae Publishing House, this very flower has a profound meaning of a good memory.

"...you're quite of a poetic one, aren't cha', Kaveh-han?" she flashes a grin out of amusement. "Guess I'll have to keep this one to myself, then. Heheh."

"I will tidy up the books once you tidy up that poor excuse for a bedroom." He had already planned on tidying up his work space today. But out of pure spite, he was going to put it off a bit longer.
