Symbol for a Cause
I was asked to create a symbol that speaks about a cause or issue prevalent in our society today. This symbol represents Euthanasia. I attempted to keep the vector very clean and sharp but still feeling drippy and organic. This relates to the ongoing debate about the morality of doctor assisted suicide as well as capital punishment.

Symbol Design for a Cause

This symbol would be used to promote safety in areas that people bring their pets to. Many times animals attack without reason and owners may have a hard time controlling them. It important to keep your pet on a leash for this reason. Promoting this will keep people safe. I imagine this to be posted on green signs in parks and around neighborhoods and busy city streets.

Symbol for a Cause - Global Warming
This symbol is meant to illustrate the growing concern of global warming. Ice sheets at both poles of the globe are, according to scientists, melting faster than ever before.

"Symbol Design for a Cause"
I designed this symbol to create awareness on human trafficking. The hand represents the need to stop this serious problem as soon as possible and the bar code on the wrist represents how human beings are traded for the purpose of slavery or forced labor.

Symbol Design
In graphic design history, we were asked to create a symbol/logo for a cause of our choice. After researching human trafficking all semester long for my advertising class, I decided to chose this cause to design a symbol for. For the past couple of years, human trafficking has become a problem larger than we could imagine. It's become a problem that has targeted teen girls and young adult women. Due to this, I chose to depict a female in my symbol. The symbol was left black with no features showing to represent how females trafficked have been stripped from their identity. The sewn-shut mouth was used to represent those who have been trafficked and have no voice. They are fighting to be heard and fighting to live as they once did. Lastly, the bar-code was placed on the neck to represent that they are no longer seen as human beings in the eyes of those who are trafficking them. They are seen as just a number.
Overall, this black and white symbol was created with the intent to bring attention to those who have been trafficked and for others to be aware. Hopefully, through such symbol, a call to action will occur—for others to be aware of what is happening in their own neighborhoods and "Give them a Voice and Beat Down Human Trafficking".
