Field Guide (Austin's Cupcake Handbook)
This project was made based on a fieldguide project. We are told to go out to a specific area and find objects that you could compare and contrast. I chose cupcakes and visited five different shops. I compared price, popularity, flavors and overall appearance. I used vectors and clipping masks to style my cupcakes. I wanted to go for something simple and elegant but with a fun attitude.

For this project i designed a concept map poster for freshwater usage. I researched terminology associated with freshwater usage and then from there found some statistics. I then separated my topic into three sub topics and then visually connected them appropriately. I went with a tan, blue and tan color scheme to give it an earthy water feel. My favorite thing about my concept map is my creative pie graph.

History of Graphic Design Timeline Book
Over the course of a semester we learned about important events and people who affect our daily design lives. This timeline depicts what events i feel have shaped design for today. I used a green for the cover and ROYGBIV color scheme on the inside. I used Caecilia for the typeface.

Locating Place Book (College Kids VS The Elements)
I made this book for a project that was based on locating place. This book was based on West Campus partying and the effects it has on the surroundings. I first started by researching the actual location taking many of the photos that appear throughout the book. I then interviewed residents about their desire to move to West Campus and their experiences since living there. I love the work i did with typography here. I think i stepped outside my comfort level here and really designed something i'm proud of.

Symbol Design for a Cause
Tumblr media
This symbol would be used to promote safety in areas that people bring their pets to. Many times animals attack without reason and owners may have a hard time controlling them. It important to keep your pet on a leash for this reason. Promoting this will keep people safe. I imagine this to be posted on green signs in parks and around neighborhoods and busy city streets.

Site Redesign (About.com/Aldus Manutius)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
For my site design i drew inspiration from Aldus Manutius and his triangle rags he used for paragraphing. Although i don't think this would function for About.com's website i do find it interesting. Aldus Manutius' work is beautiful and i know i'll look to him for creative energy later one.

Visual Effects, Shapes and Gestalt (Depth/Perception)
Tumblr media
The following designs showcase varying levels of depth. Some accomplish depth through through color contrast. Placement is a major factor in portraying a sense of depth in the following designs. The designs are laid out in a two-dimensional setting, but somehow many of them still portray forward-backward space and the concept of distance. I learned a lot about what makes a 3D object look 3D. My design was based on a tunnel.

Locating Place Motion (West Campus)
This video was made for a project in my Graphic Design course. It focused on locating place. The place i chose was West Campus at the University of Texas at Austin. Even though motion work is tough for me i am happy with my end result. I feel as though i depicted the things i wanted to in West Campus. The color and diversity is what i focused on. I love all the imagery that you experience the whole time.

This project was based on a button series that would be handed out at the Blanton Museum of Art at the University of Texas in Austin. We were told to pick a design era to create the series. I chose International Swiss style and made three collectable buttons for each day the Blanton is open. UT students would be able to pick one of the custom Longhorn buttons with a student ID. I feel as though i learned a lot about color in this project. I stayed very true to the classic style and feel a represented it nicely.

Program TASA Booklet
We were given information for an Arts conference that would be held at our school. We had to take the information and create a visually pleasing and functional guide to the conference. I chose bright colors and a variety of typefaces to creat a fun experience.

unfortunately i lost the digital file for this project. I designed a poster/brochure for a man trying to introduce himself at the gay club. When printing, i lost my digital file and the brochure side was lost. I enjoy the color scheme i used. I also liked how i used shapes to reference paragraphs to titles. I think it adds to the interactivity.

I picked cities in Kenya to use for this project. I tried to create an African tribe inspired weather report that would appear in a screen-less environment. I chose browns, green and orange because of the natural feel they create.

my design for this project was based on the word Nascent. Nascent means beginning to exist. I tried to play with depth, color and opacity to try and create a sense of creation. It flows organically from the back left corner and evolves and migrates to start and form a sphere. To me a sphere is very symbolic to the earth and life in general.

This project was fun! i loved cutting out the silhouettes of the ballerinas. I went for a really  hypnotic feel. I wanted to play on the idea of the real world (audience/curtains) viewing this "out of this world" ballet.

My design for this project was inspired by cartoons, especially little girl cartoons. The design definitely has a "girl game" feel. I love all the bright colors i used. Even though flash is tough i really like my interactive game play. Although all days at St. Edwards are interesting, i think i brought a little bit more color and pizzaz to the map of our campus.

This project was about using techniques and styles that we learned about in class to make quick but sound designs to answer or express different questions. This project was great, it gave me a lot of freedom to design how i wanted to.
