Being Courted By Arthurian Times!Maxim
Tumblr media
This one is a tad bit longer, maybe get a snack while you read this one!
For starters; he's a strong, respected sorcerer known throughout the kingdom he resides in.
Courting a sorcerer is almost as respected as someone in high society. There are rumors of princesses throwing themselves at them to betroth.
Sorcerers are a new thing, however, everyone in your small village find them suspicious. Human beings having magic? Preposterous.
So, to have one visit is quite odd. Regardless, hospitality is open to all that travel through your small corner of the world.
You're out laboring in the fields, anywhere you are needed. You can hear the commotion in town. It's not that something like this happened before, so you lend an ear while the blisters on your hands grow larger.
Sorcerers bring danger wherever they walk, but in turn, they also bring excitement.... Your curiosity gets the better of you.
You and a few others sneak through the meadows to get to the crowd.
You can hear the youths laugh and squeal in excitement as the sorcerer casts magic.
Though it seems as you watch, he has the observation skills of a trusted knight. He spots you the second you got close, though he says nothing. Just eye contact, which is all the more frightening.
You immediately went back where you were, you knew you shouldn't have pried.
That evening, you come to find out that he's staying at the inn nearby. Everyone seems so ecstatic for this sorcerer to be here.
Someone who can wield magic who might as well be a giant amongst everyone else, is welcome. That didn't make sense to you.
However, the world won't stop turning. You'll be back to work tomorrow morning.
And you were, back to work as if nothing had happened. Every single day is the same here after all.
Working, wishing for excitement- all of the crops had just flew from their plants and set themselves into baskets. All the plants you put so much work on now hovered above ground, obscuring you from the outside world.
Some of the plants move aside to reveal the sorcerer from the day before.
"You ran away yesterday. Why is that?"
From afar this man appears scary, but up close he's just flat out alluring. That's even more dangerous.
"I am Maxim Horvath, Merlin's first apprentice. And you are?"
He tells you about his adventures, enticing you of lands far outside your village. The world seems a lot larger than yours here.
He invites you on an adventure, to leave in search of greener pastures.
So, you move into a small place in a larger town where Maxim and his magical kin reside.
He visits you on the daily, giving you advice with living in a more populous environment.
He soon introduces you to the other apprentices, and now you spend most of your nights reading with Maxim in one of the many libraries within Merlin's fortress.
You find that he tries his hardest to get close to you a lot. Even in the crowded streets he still reaches for you, over all the other people.
There were a few nobles that had come and go through this town, always asking for the hand of a strong sorcerer, but it seems like Maxim would always refuse.
Were you jealous? A little, but it was still off putting. Why you? Why did he spare you from your bleak future and is far too patient with you than anyone else?
What really started to turn the tide of your relationship with this man was during a festival, something completely foreign to you. Working day in and day out was what you knew, celebrating hard work, it made no sense.
Regardless, you sit off to the side as people danced and sang merrily to music. It made you realize that you've been missing it on all of this for so long.
Maxim then appears seemingly out of nowhere and invites you to dance. No mater how many times you tell him you can't he insists that you'll learn.
He seems beyond contempt as you sway with him. He even looks more relaxed as well, you vaguely remember the slight edge to him when he wandered into your little corner of nowhere. It feels like that was forever ago.
Maxim then separates you from the celebration and brings you to a secluded area of a forest. A small clearing with a waterfall.
He takes your hands, "May I have the honor of courting you, my dear?" You accept without hesitation.
He has you rest in a conjoint room in the fortress. You sold your small little property and brought your few belongings
However, you've notice some going missing whenever you visit his room. It doesn't take much of an investigation for you to see that Maxim likes to hold onto some little pieces of you. It's not like you're out of his sight either.
It should come to no surprise, but when he falls in love he falls HARD.
He escorts you all around the fortress, loving it when you hold his arm.
You weren't expecting him to hold your hands a lot, you also weren't expecting him to be so flustered when he tried to kiss you.
Big scary man isn't actually scary, he's shy and loves you but could still kill a person™
Dining with you becomes a common theme, same thing with helping him study. Because he finds it easier to learn by relaying the information to another person.
Merlin finds it near impossible to separate him from you, it would've been a lot easier if you could learn magic.
With the rare times that you are alone, it's not for long. He always seems to find you. His duties as a sorcerer pale to his duties as a lover.
There were times where you were reading outside in a field of daisies; your hands were made for hard working, but they seem to appreciate the less you had to do. You shut your book and looked at your hands.
Your hands were quickly taken from view as Maxim pressed his lips on the back of it. He knelt next to you, enjoying a sunny afternoon.
You often comb through his long, curly hair as he rests his head on your legs.
He likes to show off with spells or his skill in swordplay. His poses become more flashy and dynamic as the other sorcerers groan.
He once gave you a blade of grass that changed into a beautiful rose. The magic shenanagains never cease, do they?
You know when he learned a new spell because he'd use it in relation to you. Teleportation? He'd appear right in front of you, trap you in a hug, and teleport in the clearest lake.
Nights were spent in a loving embrace, he refuses to leave you for his own room. He always wants to be with you, in best and in worst times.
He's a man in love, and who are you to deny it from him?

Peter Thomas Scolari (September 12, 1955 – October 22, 2021) Actor best known for his roles as Michael Harris on Newhart (1984–1990) and Henry Desmond in Bosom Buddies (1980–1982). Scolari received three Emmy nominations for his work on Newhart and won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series for his recurring role as Tad Horvath on Girls in 2016.
Scolari's first ongoing role was in his first short-lived 1980 sitcom Goodtime Girls, as the juggling neighbor of the title characters. He was then cast co-starring with then-unknown Tom Hanks, in another sitcom Bosom Buddies, as two young creative professionals who disguise themselves as women to get an affordable apartment in a women-only building. After Bosom Buddies was cancelled in 1982, and still struggling as an actor, Scolari joined the cast of Newhart, opposite Bob Newhart, in 1984, where he played Michael Harris, the yuppie local TV producer, until the series' conclusion in 1990.
Following central roles in the unsuccessful series Family Album and Dweebs, Scolari spent three seasons playing inventor Wayne Szalinski, a role originated on film by Rick Moranis, in the TV adaptation of the Disney film Honey, I Shrunk the Kids. He later had a recurring role as the father of Lena Dunham's character on HBO's Girls, for which he won an Emmy in 2016. He also portrayed Gotham City’s corrupt police commissioner, Gillian B. Loeb, in Fox’s superhero crime drama Gotham.  (Wikipedia)

The Mortuary Collection (2019)
Genre: Horror
Who's In It: Clancy Brown Caitln Custer, Mike C Nelson, Jacob Elordi, Ema Horvath
Who Directed It: Ryan Spindell
Plot: An eccentric mortician recounts several macabre and phantasmagorical tales that he's encountered in his distinguished career.
Run Time: 1 Hour 48 Minutes
IMDB Score: 6.4
Metascore: 69
Why I Watched It: Trailer was solid, the genre buzz was good and Clancy Brown of course.
How I Watched It: Shudder Canada
Random Thoughts: So this is an anthology horror film but a little different, all the stories were written and directed by the same person Ryan Spindell. This is a huge difference cause most anthology have different directors and writers.
What I Like: The fact that this had one director did make it seem like one film with different arcs and stories rather than four short films glued together by a narrator which I enjoyed it flowed well and even though the stories were different the tone and pacing were similar so we don't have huge tone shifts. It also helps that the stories do connect and the framing device is it's own story. In films like this you tend to review each story separate but in this case you don't have to, you can judge it as a whole. You can view each story as a sub-plot if you will.
The standout is of course Clancy Brown, now I will say the make-up was oft putting at first but I got use to it. I like the fact that you don't trust him and yet you like him,I like the fact that we don't know if this guy is even who he says he is but he does draw you in.
On the whole I liked the stories and I will say a couple are very clever and do have fun with horror troupes for me the first and last two segments are very good at playing with expectations. A couple of the revels were very good and one was super clever and didn't see coming. The end is great use of Clancy Brown and using what we had seen before. It's one of those movies that you think you're seeing one thing or coming one way and the film slowly pushes you in a different direction.
What I Didn't Like: It's not that scary, for creepy, the stories are well told but they don't grab you and a couple are kind of well worn stories that aren't done bad but you've been there done that. Also the film could have used a bugger budget, the make-up is bad and the effects at the end aren't great, which is too bad but the film does have that boy if we just had a little more money if would look great.
All the stories are fine to good, the first one is a good punch line and I did like it but it's a one joke story, granted it's good but it does drag. The big problem for me is that most of the stories go on too long except the last one and the ending and I kind of wish we spent more time with Clancy Brown, we do get there but by that time we kind of know what's going on. I also wished they had a better cast, the acting was fine but I wish they had the money to throw in a couple of genre names and see what they could have brought.
My biggest beef is even though I liked it I felt I could have loved it and there was just something that was holding it back and for me if just felt a tad flat, it didn't have the energy or agency to have me on or near the edge of my seat. I enjoyed it but I'm not sure I was that invested.
Final Thoughts: I enjoyed it and I do think it worked and is worth a watch.
Rating: I'm torn here for me it's a 6.5, there's something holding me back from giving it a 7. It's good not great.

Tell Me You Believe In Love (It’s Not An Illusion) - Mark
Tumblr media
Summary: This story starts over a millennia ago. It starts with Merlin and his apprentices Horvath, Balthazar and Veronica. It starts with betrayal and sacrifices. But whose got the time for all that?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This story starts over a millennia ago. It starts with Merlin and his apprentices Horvath, Balthazar and Veronica. It starts with betrayal and sacrifices. But whose got the time for all that?
Balthazar had searched over the millennia for the Prime Merlinian. Someone who could magic do without a vessel and could take down Morgana once and for all. Now we did miss a step when we skipped over the betrayal… and sacrifice. You see, Balthazar and Veronica were together. Instead of being reasonable about it, Horvath betrayed them all to Morgana Le Fey. Veronica managed to capture her within her own body.
It’s a long story. But let’s just say there are now a lot of villainous sorcerers inside a creepy looking Matryoshka. One that Horvath hopes to open and release the worst evil in the world.
Horvath had succeed in opening the first two or three layers thanks to his own apprentice Mark. Mark didn’t really have any idea what was going on most of the time. He just knew he was special and that’s why Horvath kept him around instead of sacrificing him for the power.
Now, on the opposite side of the story is the Prime Merlinian. Yes, Balthazar finally succeeded. His name was Noah. Noah Campbell. He wasn’t much to look at, minus the odd birthmark on his eye. The technical name of which was nevus of Ota.
It meant one of his chocolate eyes was a tad bit darker than the other but it didn’t obscure his vision. Other than that, the tall teen was lanky and had long, curly purple hair. Balthazar found him at the age of ten and spent years upon years helping him hone his magic with the help of Merlin’s ring.
The same ring Mark would eventually be sent to steal from the taller teen. Mark’s black hair was streaked with blonde, apparently it was natural. He dressed in leather and was generally hired out as a magic act for children’s birthday parties. That was before Horvath. And maybe it would be after too, if he survived his trip to the dark side.
He overheard Horvath one night talking, the man was alone but he did insist on talking to the Nesting Dolls, about “finally getting rid of the street rat”. Mark knew that his master meant him. And he wasn’t about to let that happen.
Mark had recently discovered where Balthazar and The Prime Merlinian practised magic, an old section of the subway, and headed straight there. He wasn’t expecting a warm welcome. He knew that he’d fought against these people already, and nearly bested them, but he’d come to his senses.
Stepping into the old tunnel, Mark felt there was something different about the air. He didn’t set off any traps as he made his way deeper, mainly because there weren’t any set up.
He reached an alcove at the end of the tunnel and stepped through, hands raised in a surrendering position.
“Hello, Mr Blake? Mr Prime Merlinian? I’ve come to join forces…”
He stepped into the middle of the alcove, only to be met with the most beautiful pair of eyes he’d ever seen.
“Mark?” his name was whispered softly from the shadows.
Noah stepped out from behind some old boxes, his purple hair pulled back into a low pony-tail.
“What’s going on? Did he send you?” a raspy voice called from behind him. Balthazar.
“No, sir. He didn’t tell me all that we were doing…” Mark spoke hurriedly, trying not to trip over his words at the sharp stare of Noah. “I thought we were the good guys.”
The poor boy had been manipulated from day one. Horvath never cared, they were the bad ones, what else had been a lie? Mark flinched back a step when Noah raised a hand. The taller sheepishly withdrew it as fast as he’d offered it and turned to stare into the shadows to his left instead.
The ring. The dragon ring. Merlin’s ring glinted on his finger.
“You can’t do ringless magic yet? Can I help?” Mark was thankful that his voice remained steady.
Noah’s eyes returned to Mark. He wore no vessel for magic but yet he radiated it. So, apprehensively, Noah nodded. He knew sooner or later he’d have to give Horvath the ring. It was the only way to be rid of Morgana for good after all. So he needed all the help he could get.
Training session after training session. Closer and closer the two apprentices became. Until it was time. Time for Morgana to rise and then fall at the hands of The Prime Merlinian and his boyfriend.
