HI HELLO YES?? THANK U FOR MAKING MY ENTIRE MONTH?? hnksdhgg i am....so surprised people actually like Rachel but i am very happy and i love you :’’D 

(For anyone who doesn’t know, Rachel is an OC from my Christmas fic on FFN)

Rachel’s a pretty average person on the whole, her family moved to Ninjago City from the south when she was really young, but otherwise she’s lived there her whole life. By the time she meets Lloyd in my fic she’s in late high school-ish? She runs into him (literally) at the hospital and completely fails to recognize him.

She does find out later and dies on the spot in embarrassment, but she’s already got Lloyd’s number, so who’s gonna stop her from making friends way out of her league now? (Kai, maybe, or Nya, but she manages to convince them she’s not Harumi 2.0. Eventually.)

(actually once she manages to convince them she’s not a threat Rachel gets along great with the ninja, they’re an easy bunch to get along with and she loves Nya and Pixal. Kai’s her favorite though, because he tells embarrassing stories about Lloyd and actually lets her hold a real sword when he’s trying to teach her the barest essentials of self-defense.)

She’s not an elemental master or a ninja (though Lloyd’s working on that one, because Rachel you’ve at least gotta be able to throw a good right hook if you’re going to hang with me and you wanna survive). She’s a medical student in-training though, so she’s great with wounds and pretty handy with scalpels when it comes down to it.

She’s a decent student in school and one of the team’s basketball captains — she didn’t really meet Brad so much as she nailed him in the head with a basketball because he was trying to trip the fire alarm during a game as a prank.

Naturally they became great friends after this because she took one look at disaster freshman Brad trying to find his place in the world after the terrible school that was Darkley’s and was like “friend”.

She does that to a lot of people, actually.

She is! A huge dork! She’s pretty confident but tends to go to pieces pretty fast if she’s caught unawares, especially if she’s running into local celebrities.

She LOVES animals and works/volunteers at a local shelter, she’d be a vet if she wasn’t dead-set on being a doctor.

She’s been a fan of the ninja since day one and absolutely loves them. Her school kinda treats the ninja like the MCU’s Spider-Man gets treated, they make dorky little pins and fight over their faves.

I have this headcanon that for the majority of s1/early s2 the ninja were local Ninjago cryptids like “vigilante pajama people: real ninja or actual children with swords”. Rachel and her friends were those terrible fans who’d pick teams, Rachel was Team Black Ninja and Lloyd will never let her live it down.

Her hair is a monster in and of itself but fortunately her mom is a hairdresser, so she experiments with different colored streaks and stuff from time to time (her mother figures it’s better than getting tattoos every weekend).

Speaking of parents! Like I said in the fic there’s zero tragic family backstory here. Her dad’s a nurse at the hospital, and Rachel wants to be a doctor because of him. Her mom just wants her to get a scholarship or two.

Her dad is actually a big reason why she likes the ninja so much — he’d come home with stories about the literal kids who’d they see in and out of the hospital, regularly risking their lives for the city. He’d tell her how many more people they could save because the ninja were there to fight back. Rachel gets that you can’t save everyone, so she wants to be a doctor so she can save lives too.

(also because if she’s sticking with Lloyd long-term she’s gonna need to learn how to stitch up wounds pronto)

Lloyd at 2am: hey are u up

Rachel: yeah what’s up

Lloyd: do u know how to fix a broken femur

Lloyd: I promised i’d be careful and I dont want Zane to kill me

Rachel: long-suffering sigh

By the time she’s in college Lloyd regularly somersaults through her dorm room window with take-out and third-degree burns or something. Rachel’s got an entire shelf in her pantry devoted to “dumb ninja medical supplies”

She’s a disaster, if I had to describe, but she’s a Lloyd-flavor disaster so they get along great. She also knows Lloyd is a disaster, so they get along like a house on fire and by that I mean it’s Rachel’s dorm that’s on fire because Lloyd microwaved ramen noodles wrong

perhapst they get together eventually who knows stop looking at me like that
