Can't continue to fear backbends! Embrace the fear and just try Sphinx Pose or Bhujangasana . Backbends are a great way to warm the system and increase energy (especially on a cold and very rainy day, ie: today)! They bring flexibility to our central axis of support and strengthen weak back muscles. This one lifts the curve of the spine from lower back upwards to the thoracic area. This pose releases the shoulders and is a lovely stretch for the front of the body.
