maybe love exists outside of memory. as much as the crap that his father would give him when he was younger, he was still his son. maybe there were days he hated him, but he still loves him. who in the world, would break their backs trying to take care of a 78 year old child. its not like he was getting some nobel prize or money for doing it. endlessly having to dump a damn bottle that the old man would mistaken for apple juice, he swears he was losing his mind. forget about grey hairs. “how, in the world, are you to tell me that it’s just a part of life?! and for me to do my best to make him happy while he’s here? you guys are cruel!” unable to control his temper as he stomps his index finger on the table. “like you have a right to dictate whether a human lives or not! i want a cure, aren’t you guys doctors?! thugs?! how much money does it take to at least have some damn decency. i’m already dumping so much damn money into his room and you’re freaking asking me for another co-pay deposit?” junyoung’s hands balls into fists only momentarily as he tries to compose himself, the male reeked of meat and soju. it felt like, ever since he put his own father into nursing care, he was losing more sleep than if the old was back at home. work was troublesome, his boss always looming over him, let alone an old man that acts like a damn child. an anxious hand moving up to wipe the oil that was on his forehead before huffing and looking back to the doctor “and what’s this, with the crap that you’re feeding him? he’s skinner than last week!” @taleofwomen

@taleofwomen asked: “ i miss you. i know i’m not supposed to, but. i just had to see you. ” ( zz&yy? after divorce lmao? no one said pain but she did so here you go ig.)
He missed her too.
Maybe it was true what people said, that love was a slow process, that love was stealth. It crept up on you, and you couldn’t predict it, nor could you identify it. You couldn’t pick the moment out where you realised that you didn’t want to spend time with anyone else. You woke up one morning and realised that…this was what. This was what you wanted.
It wasn’t what she had wanted though. She’d made that abundantly clear. Zizhen had always believed that love meant putting someone else first. That it meant wanting what was best for someone, about supporting what they wanted. Sometimes, letting people go was the right thing to do, no matter how you felt about it. Things like this, couldn’t be one sided, it would eventually decay and poison them both.
Yet, he smiled, “we’ve known each other most of our lives, of course we would miss each other.” It wasn’t what she meant and he knew it, but she had made her choice, if he was to take advantage of second guessing, what kind of person would he be?

❛ how … did you even get yourself into this situation ? ❜ (yue to Jin Ling)
50 𝘿𝙄𝘼𝙇𝙊𝙂𝙐𝙀 𝙋𝙍𝙊𝙈𝙋𝙏𝙎
How? That’s the question Jin Ling did not want to answer. A lot happened - a lot has been forgotten, erased from his mind even when he had spent his time passed out in that damned saber hall.
There’s a moment he looks down, defeated and perhaps even ashamed of his actions but that moment soon passes as his features fall back into the familiar frown. “You’re only asking so you can tell Jiujiu about it.” He huffed, his arms crossing as if to put up an immovable wall. There was a lot to hide and protect - not only from family but from everyone.
It’s another failed attempt of proving himself, another failed attempt on the list of situations that could have ended differently if not for someone saving him. And he hates it. Jin Ling hates it so much. So why should he tell her about anything if he did not even tell his uncle about things like this? She would tell him, he was sure of that. Why else would she even ask. Clearly she was trying to sell him out and watch him getting scolded for days.
“You don’t need to know all the details.” Jin Ling said firmly as he turned around. He wasn’t going to leave yet but it was hard to look at her. He wasn’t the best liar and he dug his own grave by not making up a harmless scenario. Someone must have told her about it anyway - he assumed she wouldn’t ask if she hadn’t heard it from anyone else.
“Look, I have no time to tell stories. If Jiujiu finds out I’m spending my time talking instead of doing polishing my skills, he will be mad. This has nothing to do with you, so why are you even asking?”

“You know, for as much as you’ve talked about this jerk of an ex-boyfriend, you’ve never showed me what he LOOKS LIKE. I have to know, in case, you know, I ever run into him on the streets or something then I can give him a GOOD SMACK he’ll never know what’s coming.” Sunkyung said with a proud grin. Even though Jina wasn’t his older sister by blood, with how close she was to him and his own sister, she felt like part of their family and he considered her as such. Which was why he was willing to go out of his way for her. Especially since everything he’s been told about this man, he thinks he deserves it. “C’mon Noona, show me a PICTURE of him, hmmm?” He looks up at with with a puppy dog stare and a bit of a pout.

@taleofwomen ♡ for a starter! — ℤ𝕙𝕚 ℝ𝕠𝕦
⚍☯⚎ “Watch your step. Carefully,” he spoke to her in quiet, advisory tones, his hands cupping both of her own as they walked, her carefully blindfolded and he her guide. He had enchanted the length of silk over her eyes in case she’d be tempted to peek, but he felt fairly certain her excitement for her father’s surprise would not allow her to spoil the fun prematurely.
There was a bit of trouble, however, in the fact that his children knew the Heavenly realm like the backs of their hands, having explored nearly every building, every garden, every pathway and alcove not barred to them (and some that were). Because of this he would have to employ a bit of trickery in addition to the blindfold, leading her around the long way in attempts to throw off her sense of direction, which was just as well because it was a nice day out and he did enjoy strolls with Zhi Rou when time permitted.
At last they came to a stop and he would let her hands slip from his own, “we’re here. Are you ready?” He asked, waiting only briefly before with a flick of his wrist the blindfold dissolved from over her eyes. They stood in a familiar courtyard, one she would know quite well. She and her brother had played here countless hours through their childhood, climbing the rock structures and playing hide and seek within its halls.
It was Xuanji palace — a place that he once called his home, but was bequeathing to his daughter now that she had come of age.
He smiled to himself, glancing between her and the glistening white walls that had been polished to a luster, the palace stripped of any of his early belongings save for the furniture, and the bedding would of course be changed to her liking. He said nothing at first, lifting a brow to his daughter, wondering if she would arrive at the implication herself before being told. It was a bit odd after all to be brought to this place that was so familiar to both of them — not really a surprise at all.⚍☯⚎

Ouyang Fang * Self (Sonnet)
Sleep, wanderer of night so still with skill
For ‘morrow peeks as ventures beat in drum
Do you not feel such life inside such thrill?
Or, better yet, not sing true nature’s hum?
Dare touch not waters deep nor wide and cold
Swim shallow, nary one to feel the pier
Oh, lotus essence beckons pride and bold
Allow the shackles off to steel the fear
Share wisdom, owl of dusk, before you fly
As many find new wind under white wing
As many find the mischief gone awry
As sparrows sting such soul so strung... so sing!
A bird in hand is worth the two apart
Be caged no more, oh, lady Ying Yue’s heart

@taleofwomen says: 🍒 + aeipathic (because selflove is important!)
positivity || accepting!
k!! that’s not how this is supposed to go!!! but okay since you asked and since i do believe in the importance of self-affirmation i will do it seriously
i’m pretty proud of myself as a writer; i’ve got things to work on, of course, and i hope i always continue to improve, but i’m satisfied with the way i’ve developed a lot of the characters i have on here and it makes me happy to think of how far i’ve come as a writer and rper over the years, and i’m grateful for the friendships and the opportunities it’s brought me <3 on a more personal note, while i’m not exactly where i thought i’d be in this stage of my life, i’m glad i’ve given myself the space to figure things out, my mental health is a lot better than it was a year ago, and i’m excited about the direction i think i’m going if i can just get my hands on the right opportunities.

❝ The truth is like the sun. You can shut it out for a while, but it’s not gonna go away. ❞ ( gwi & yeon ♥ originallyiwantedfluffbutgotpainagainlmaosorry)
In spite of the apparently alarming statement, being he at such a short distance from his peer, there isn’t much of a choice other than to spare some admiration towards that small and enchanting figure that still persisted even after all these years. An admiration reserved only to those who would share the same time of wandering in this hell of an Earth. Obsidian gleam in his eyes with no reflex remains so vehemently fixed upon the similarly colored orbs of the other, lids half-closed as he watched her so alarmingly close. Maybe too close. But who was he to complain of distances being this creature of the night such a lover of power and thrill of danger? Thus, slender and cold fingers were then intertwined between the short and thin strands of hair of his clanmate, in order to brush them them gently and slowly, however, demonstrating a feigned but still somewhat frightening indifference. A brief moment of silence before he finally addressed her through a sigh, denoting some ( maybe not so subtle ) malice.
❛❛ How perceptive of you . . . I couldn’t have picked someone better to be childe of mine, it seems. ❜❜ The observation had been uttered slowly in a husky tone. There was no hint of sweetness in those words. There was, however, this cruel touch of harshness, which bordered on wicked eroticism as the same hand that once brushed those inky and silky strands now framed the other vampire's small chin, allowing the thumb fingerprint to touch her skin; first from the chin where the hand first touched, up to the lips, as if cleaning an imaginary amount of blood that had flown from them. The fingerprint continued its way until it found the woman's lower teeth, making sure that she would open her mouth a little, albeit subtly, as his words are pronounced at their leisure which only enhanced that deep and powerful voice. Finally satisfied, Cainite would loosen his grip,letting go of her mouth, but still not quite releasing her completely, this coldness in the phonemes that leave his thin lips getting somber and somber. ❛❛ Yet I might as well remind you that if we don’t shut it, we both burn ━━━━━━━━━━━━ we are bound together after all, in case you forgot. ❜❜ Despite the apparent seriousness, the charming smile remained: Each and every implications of each of those words and their nuances would be only up to his listener. Of course there was this lingering desire to affirm she was his possession even after all these decades, yet certainly it wouldn’t add to his favor. And, after another quick sigh, he would release her at last, expression unchanged.

@taleofwomen asked: " well, of course i stayed. you're here, where else would i be? " ( yue to zizhen/taleofwomen - because we love a good friendship)
Hes surprised, Zizhen wasn’t entirely sure what he had expected from her….but it wasn’t this. Maybe he just never expected people to stand by him. They never really had before, then again, no one really knew that was going on. Zizhen didn’t really let anyone know what was going on, that was of course, half of the problem. There was only so much that people could do when you didn’t let them know what was going on.
He had no intentions of starting now.
“You shouldn’t have.” He didn’t know what else to say, but that was his problem, Zizhen was emotionally open….to an extent. He would look after people…but he wasn’t going to let anyone look after him. He hated it. He felt safe with people at arms length, not having to emotionally let people in was safe...and they weren’t going to see the sad state of his life.
Though, he was well aware that he couldn’t hide the truth forever, every denial was a debt to the truth that was eventually going to have to be paid. “Just....let it go ok, it doesn’t matter and you don’t want to piss my father off more than you already have.”

“ shījiě. ” a simple response follows a pout of his lips as he looks in her direction before giving a shake of his head. while wèi wúxiàn understands the reasoning behind her request, he can't make it happen as she would like. “ i still need to work on this idea [...] and if i go to bed now then i won't remember the rest of it when i wake up. ” he protests but keeps a level tone with her as his eyes wander back to the parchment in front of him; however, his eyes double in their size as he realises he's not written on this particular one. panic bubbles in his chest as he quickly grabs a parchment with writing to cover up the blank one before she notices it, and then he laughs. “ see? i have all of my starting ideas here. ”

“ you seem scared… is that why you don’t want to talk?” ( yanli to jin ling? )
*: ・゚✧ interrogation starters.
“I’m not!” Jin Ling insisted. He wasn’t scared or at least he tried not to be scared. It’s not so easy when the one asking was the one who knew him better than anyone else. It’s this realization that made him give up on his stubbornness soon after he insisted on not being afraid. But Yanli was right, he did not want to talk. It’s hard to talk when he had to admit being scared. Even though he knew she would never laugh at him - others would but she would never.
The boy was quiet, looking rather gloomy for an moment before he decided to shift closer to her. Another moment passed and he allowed himself to lean his head against her shoulder. There’s no one else to see, so he allowed himself this little bit of comfort. Though, he still did not talk about what had scared him. Going through the whole scenario in his memories, it did seem silly for a cultivator to be scared. But aside from this being silly, it startled him enough to scream and that’s embarrassing enough for a boy of his age. To top it all, for some time he felt like he would be losing someone.
“We-” Jin Ling paused only seconds after trying to tell her about it. Hiding it would not help at all. He could at least tell his mother about the things bothering him. “We didn’t have the situation under control. I thought we could go on this night hunt alone but I was wrong.” He never meant to whine like this but once he began to talk it all simply spilled out of him like a waterfall of words. “I thought I was going to lose one of my friends. Everything went wrong. I- I don’t want to lose anyone. I’m scared something like this will happen again. What if I can’t protect everyone?”

@taleofwomen | starter call | wen kexing & gu xiang | cont from x
His eyes narrowed in suspicion at her sudden surprise; he knew A-Xiang too well after all their years together. Something was going on, and judging from the quick ‘nothing,’ and the sudden change of topic that ‘nothing’ had everything to do with that boy she had found herself so taken with (even if she wouldn’t admit it). “Nothing?” he said, fan tapping the sleeve of his robe. It was evident in his demeanor that he was disbelieving of her words. “Hmmm…you answered very fast for it to simply be nothing. Most of the time when we’re caught smiling, we are thinking about things that bring us joy.”
With him, as of late, it had been A-Xu; he always smiled, even if he hadn’t meant to be thinking of him, when stray thoughts of the man flickered through his mind. “Forgive me if I don’t trust an answer given that quickly.” Wen Kexing began a slow walk around her, an attempt to see what she had so quickly hidden behind her back. “Did you get a trinket from a boy? Perhaps that boy? Where is Cao Weining today, anyway? The last I saw of him, he was staring at you with moon eyes from across the breakfast table.”
Nevertheless, it didn’t stop him from reaching into his robes, pulling out a small satchel of currency and passing it over to her. “Chicken. Nothing more. Do not spend my money on that stupid love-stricken fool of a boy.” Secretly, though, he was happy for her – happy to see such a smile on her face; though, he would never admit it aloud. “Oh and get wine. Something good.” Wen Kexing paused for a moment, letting out a tired sigh. “And invite that boy if you’d like. He looks like he could use a good meal.”
