  ⚍☯⚎ “Watch your step. Carefully,” he spoke to her in quiet, advisory tones, his hands cupping both of her own as they walked, her carefully blindfolded and he her guide. He had enchanted the length of silk over her eyes in case she’d be tempted to peek, but he felt fairly certain her excitement for her father’s surprise would not allow her to spoil the fun prematurely.

  There was a bit of trouble, however, in the fact that his children knew the Heavenly realm like the backs of their hands, having explored nearly every building, every garden, every pathway and alcove not barred to them (and some that were). Because of this he would have to employ a bit of trickery in addition to the blindfold, leading her around the long way in attempts to throw off her sense of direction, which was just as well because it was a nice day out and he did enjoy strolls with Zhi Rou when time permitted. 

  At last they came to a stop and he would let her hands slip from his own, “we’re here. Are you ready?” He asked, waiting only briefly before with a flick of his wrist the blindfold dissolved from over her eyes. They stood in a familiar courtyard, one she would know quite well. She and her brother had played here countless hours through their childhood, climbing the rock structures and playing hide and seek within its halls. 

  It was Xuanji palace — a place that he once called his home, but was bequeathing to his daughter now that she had come of age. 

  He smiled to himself, glancing between her and the glistening white walls that had been polished to a luster, the palace stripped of any of his early belongings save for the furniture, and the bedding would of course be changed to her liking. He said nothing at first, lifting a brow to his daughter, wondering if she would arrive at the implication herself before being told. It was a bit odd after all to be brought to this place that was so familiar to both of them — not really a surprise at all.⚍☯⚎

and so adorable in the early chapters lmao. Tbh, the first time I read the novel I didn't really read through the first 300-ish chapters... I got all the world building done by the manhua and the drama, then skipped to 300-ish. Then I reread it again. Somehow after the 3rd rereading, I find Xiao Tang really cute.

Excerpt that made me soft:

“Before Level 20, Tang Rou had leveled on her own. Previously, when she played with Chen Guo, she was only controlling the character and had never communicated with others. This was her first experience with Glory’s voice system. After staring blankly for a bit, she suddenly started laughing.

“What are you laughing at?” Ye Xiu turned his head strangely.

“So that’s how you speak? It feel so stupid!” Tang Rou said.

“Oh? Is your voice option not turned on?” Ye Xiu recovered and instructed Tang Rou to turn on the voice option.

Tang Rou coughed twice and then greeted everyone with a “Hi everyone”. Immediately after, she began laughing again.

“What’s so funny……” Ye Xiu couldn’t understand.

“I don’t know either!” Tang Rou laughed while saying this.”

it wasn't like with su mucheng, that i immediately connected with her character you know? so rereading this draft made me remember some things hahahaha

Crown Prince Li Kaiqing, Chen Ji, and Fushui

MAJOR spoilers for 《骊歌行》 Court Lady (2021)!!! This is just me blabbing about my feelings.

so we all knew that Crown Prince (CP) and Chen Ji (CJ) were gonna be BE cuz they have historical prototypes. after Chengxin was executed, Li Chengqian grieved for a long time, refusing to attend court and also building a shrine for him in the palaces.

well, even with that knowledge, i still cried like a little baby at the end of the drama. there’s not a single un-sad 感情线 in this entire show, but i really do think that the mess of these three is tragic.

before we dive into the mess that i’ve become, a huge round of applause to Li Zefeng for his amazing portrayal of the Crown Prince—the good-intentioned, sort of foolish boy that we first meet and then later the wide-eyed, paranoid, remorseless man. and of course similar props to Wang Yizhe’s two roles of sweet Chen Ji and scheming Fushui (and Sun Langlang for voicing them! Wang Zhi’s VA!).

so as i’ve already said, CP is really a whole different person after CJ dies. and the contrast between CJ and Fushui (FS) is very plainly evident: CJ dressed in pale white-blue, FS mostly in grey-black; CJ kept his hair loose, FS wears a bun (or hat, when he rises thru the ranks); CJ is a lowly palace entertainer, FS is well-trained in combat and medicine (and ends up as Senior Imperial Physician, somehow); CJ was terrible at weiqi, FS is good at weiqi but pretends to be bad at it. CJ was targeted and subjected to rumors, but no one dared question CP’s relationship with FS—because CP was in so much grief after CJ died, how could anyone bear to do that to CP again? even though FS was absolutely the one that everyone should have removed from CP’s side immediately…

when CP and CJ first meet in episode 7, CP is kind of a typical princely character: he’s kinda entitled, the world is his, his future is bright… and i firmly believe he 一见钟情 because while CJ still treated him with courtesy and respect, it’s obvious that CJ didn’t expect or want anything from him. and this continues in episode 9, when CP is trying to clear his thoughts by the riverside and runs into CJ who is fishing: CP brattishly orders CJ to stay and keep him company, and CJ is honestly more confused than anything as to why the freaking Crown Prince of the country wants to spend the whole goddamn day here. of course, it’s because CJ represents a freedom for CP: here, the Emperor won’t compare him to Prince Zhou or Prince Han; here, the Empress won’t admonish him over and over again; here, there’s no scheming advisors who try to curry favor with him. here, as CP tells CJ to use, it’s just “you and I” without care for rank or formalities.

(but also the death flag in episode 9 was atrociously obvious LOL with CP promising “I will make you a grave” to CJ’s absolute terror. on-the-nose. still made me sad later on, so that’s that i guess. in any case, the episode ends with a 定情信物 whereupon CP gives a jade from his belt to CJ.)

CP watches CJ perform (as he is an entertainer from Prince Han’s mansion) for the first time in episode 10, and we see it again in episode 12, episode 16, and episode 17. based off 《三国演义》Romance of the Three Kingdoms, the lyrics are as follows:

大丈夫只患功名不立 A great man should only worry about not gaining fame and honor/

何患无妻 Why worry over not having a wife/

舍生忘死报恩住 Leaving behind life and death to repay my Lord/

忠肝义胆待友朋 Treat my friends with righteous loyalty/

我要做有血性的英雄 I want to be a hot-blooded hero/

为义而生 To live for righteousness (loyalty)/

为义而死 To die for righteousness (loyalty)

CJ plays the main role of Zhao Zilong (Zhao Yun), and he helpfully compares the story to a game of weiqi in episode 16.

“A gambit [sacrificing insignificant pieces to protect the significant ones] is what Zhao Zilong did in the Battle of Changban. In order for Zhao Zilong to save A Dou, he couldn’t save Madam Gan. So, Madam Gan committed suicide. Isn’t Madam Gan a gambit?”

to which CP responds: “Thank goodness you are Zhao Zilong, and not Madam Gan.”

CJ: “The Crown Prince regards me as his soulmate [知己]. Even if in the future, the Crown Prince were to sacrifice me as a gambit, I would be willing.”

CP: “What are you saying? You and I are friends. No matter what happens in the future, I will never treat you as a sacrificial gambit.”

(so, like, death flags everywhere! 知己-mention! and, c’mon, i think for CP’s consort to be jealous/insecure is a little bit justified considering the amount of times CP has CJ perform this piece with a line like “Why worry over not having a wife”.)

backing up for just a moment before everything goes to shit, other notable events are CP finding out his wife is pregnant in episode 13 (but he spends the day fishing and then cooking the fish with CJ at the riverside, and they walk off with arms draped around each other’s shoulders), CJ hurting his leg after climbing a cliffside to pick red flowers after CP mentioned his wife loves the color red most in episode 14, and finally CP leading a blindfolded CJ to a new house just for him to tick off another romance-y trope in episode 15.

CP: “Didn’t you say you didn’t have a home? So I bought you this little estate. When you fall in love someday, have children, and have a great career, this will be your home.”

(the point is they’re both still kind of in a honeymoon phase right now, tho it ends quickly in episode 16 when our FL Fu Rou warns CJ against being so close to CP—but CP is a little bit too idealistic right now, a little bit too stuck in his blissful fantasy, a little bit foolish. foolish, and incompetent, and unable to protect the people he loves bc he unwittingly endangered them to begin with.)

of course, things come to a head in episode 17 when CP’s wife tells her sister about CJ, leading to the Emperor eventually finding out. but while that’s happening, CP goes to see CJ at the estate he bought for him.

CP: In the future, I won’t come here anymore. Therefore, let’s put aside differences for today and be friends like we used to. We will never have those kinds of days again.

CJ confesses he’s going to leave Chang’an: I want to learn swordsmanship well, and become a wandering hero, feeling at home wherever I am. When the Crown Prince becomes Emperor in the future, I can help you take care of bad guys along my journey out there. This will be my way of helping the Crown Prince to keep the empire stable.

CP gives his dagger to CJ: This is not a reward, but a gift for my friend who is about to leave. In the future, whenever you look at it, it will be like looking at me.

CJ: A gift from my soulmate. Chen Ji will definitely take good care of it.

(for ppl who’ve watched Qing Ya Ji, the parallel to Zhongxing and Fangyue here killed me. but there’s also a parallel within the show itself near the end when Fu Rou gives the Emperor a collection of scrolls and explains that the late Empress hoped that he would treat her writings like he were seeing her—one of Court Lady’s many confirmations that CP and CJ should be read as a romantically by paralleling it to visible, het relationships. ALSO, CP has CJ perform Zhao Zilong again right after this conversation, like a last nail in the coffin.)

so the Emperor finds out in episode 18 and angrily orders CP to kill CJ himself, lest he be stripped of rank. Fu Rou warns CJ, but he refuses to escape.

If I run away, the Crown Prince will not be able to fulfill the Emperor’s order—what would happen to the Crown Prince? […] Life and death are not the most important things; the most important thing is to stay true to yourself.

and so CJ unsheathes the dagger CP gave him.

The Crown Prince regards Chen Ji as his soulmate, Chen Ji also regards the Crown Prince as his soulmate. ‘A man of service dies for the one who knows him.’ (An upright man can die for his soulmate.)

CJ quotes “士为知己者死” from Sima Qian’s 《史記·刺客列傳》Records of the Grand Historian, tho if you’ve watched Winter Begonia, it should probably also look familiar.

CP pushes aside the soldiers who’ve accompanied him on the journey to CJ’s home, but it’s too late: CJ took his own life, using the weapon CP gave him, in order to protect CP.

the chorus of Lu Hu’s 《万里》 Ten Thousand Li plays as CP staggers toward CJ’s lifeless body.

呼吸，想着你, When I breathe, I think of you

在梦里，在心里, In my dreams, in my heart

怪完相遇，怪自己, After I’ve finished blaming that we encountered each other, I blame myself

别离，痛彻心扉！Farewell, my heart is broken

(this is a song from the OST we hear multiple times with the other couples in the drama—and we also see many couples by the same river that CP and CJ would fish together by. i think, like, all the couples associated with this song except our main one have a BE…)

in CP’s immense grief, he has the weiqi pieces from his last game with CJ glued to the board, never to be moved again, and he has the flowerbed outside flattened. we get our callback to episode 9: “Chen Ji has no family. I promised him that if he died, I would make him a grave.”

CP doesn’t meet FS until episode 37, but what the Emperor says in episode 19 about Chen Ji is what really makes the whole thing a tragedy.

You must be cautious when choosing friends. He would only have misguided you.

and that’s the thing, the Emperor isn’t wrong!!! it ultimately truly is the Crown Prince’s love for Chen Ji that destroys him. his love for Chen Ji ruins him, ruins the imperial family and threatens the dynasty as a whole. because when Fushui shows up, a man who shares Chen Ji’s face, the Crown Prince trusts him unconditionally—it’s the Crown Prince’s desperation to see any small part of Chen Ji again that leaves him vulnerable to FS’s manipulation: CP forgets who he truly is. because how could a man who looks like Chen Ji ever betray him?

CP is thrown from his horse in episode 37, striking his head upon a rock.

he wonders: Chen Ji, have I also died? Did you come here just to pick me up?

(but of course it’s FS, who was actually going to kill him but the soldiers arrived too quickly.) they meet officially in episode 38.

CP: I thought I was going to die. Dimly, I felt someone approach me—he wanted to save me. I originally thought it was Chen Ji who couldn’t bear for me to die, so his spirit appeared. I didn’t expect that it was you.

FS remarks that CP has brought up “Chen Ji” several times already; immediately, he understands that this is a weakness to exploit.

CP basically throws a temper tantrum in episode 39 when he discovers he will have a permanent limp from now on. (idk if it was an intentional parallel, but CJ also had a limp after falling from the cliffside in episode 14.) FS is the only person that CP allows to approach him, and FS gets him to eat grilled fish (which is apparently CP’s favorite food—how much of the people we love do we carry with us?)

FS acts innocent: I really am bad at lying; as soon as I lie, you see right through me.

it’s everything CP wants to hear.

CP tells him: When I fell off my horse, and was on my last breath, you came to my side and encouraged me to continue living. I’m now crippled and in despair, but you talked sense into me to eat grilled fish. Everything that has happened—if it were Chen Ji, he would also have talked sense into me, encouraged me. Sometimes, I feel that you are Chen Ji, just with a different face.

(obviously it’s the same face for us tho cuz he’s played by the same guy. but anyway, when FS comes clean about everything in episode 51, he mimics the words CP says here.

I am not Chen Ji. I, Yang Fushui, came to your side to find an opportunity to take revenge.)

back to episode 39, FS says he doesn’t want to be “another Chen Ji” because he doesn’t want to die so young—he’s afraid of death.

CP: I guarantee you that I won’t let anyone harm you. What happened to Chen Ji will never happen to you.

(and it’s true! FS gets away with so much goddamn shit because CP’s wife doesn’t dare criticize FS, and even the Emperor doesn’t after knowing what it’s like to see his son in such heavy grief. CP’s wife thinks this is her chance at making amends; she felt real remorse after CJ died, and honestly that line from It’s Quiet Uptown sums it up best: “If I could trade his life for mine/He'd be standing here right now/And you would smile and that would be enough.” a shame, of course, that CP was FS’s freaking main target. nobody wants to repeat the tragedy of Chen Ji, so no one questions Fushui.)

but, like, FS isn’t truly even that subtle—it’s just that CP is so blinded by his love for CJ. from episode 46:

CP: I have taught you for so long, but you’re still terrible at playing.

FS: I am doing it on purpose. Only if I play poorly, will the Crown Prince be willing to continue teaching me.”

CP: Even you put on an act before me? […] You are the person I trust the most. Don’t lie to me.

(太子，你醒醒吧!)

so FS successfully sows discord between CP and his brother Prince Han; the Empress passes away (always sickly, but her illness was very much exacerbated upon seeing her beloved sons turn on each other); CP’s wife kills her own sister in what she believes is a beneficial political move for CP; Prince Han’s wife is wrongfully executed; Sheng Chujun is killed and silenced too after he discovers FS’s plans. CP stages a coup against Prince Han. (the man who looks like Chen Ji must only want the best for him, right?) FS gets away with everything and goes to visit CP in prison in episode 51.

AND HERE! HERE! FS is supposed to kill CP; that’s been his goal from the very beginning. CP hasn’t eaten for days in the prison, but FS shows up with a grilled fish and CP eats without a second thought that it could be poisoned.

but. FS has been at CP’s side for so long now. he’s orchestrated CP to lose everything. there is nothing left that CP could give to him but the mere fact that he’s still breathing.

in episode 49, FS poisons Lian Yan’er and Yan Zifang is obviously upset on behalf of blissfully ignorant, head-over-heels Ma Haihu.

FS: I will kill whoever gets in my way.

YZF: What about someone you love? If it was someone you loved, you would be just as ruthless, right?

FS: It is human nature to be greedy and selfish. Where does love come into play? This question—you’ve asked the wrong person.

(but FS’s expression changes. someone he loves? he’s startled, he looks afraid.)

FS ruined CP’s life; and at the same time, gave CP reason to live again. CP started playing weiqi again, his relationship with his wife improved; he started smiling again. there was a passionate fire to him that he never had before (this was his second chance to do everything right, to protect the people he loves!)... the kindling, unfortunately, was his trust in Prince Han and his parents. from episode 39, FS comes in and sits down next to CP after CP trashes his room during his tantrum.

CP: Do you know why I treat you differently from other people?

FS: Because I remind Your Highness of your friend who already passed away—Chen Ji?

CP never stopped loving CJ; he loved Fushui, because he never stopped treating him as Chen Ji. after the failed coup against Prince Han, CP smiles in prison in episode 51 when FS visits him.

CP: It was fate who made us each other's soulmate [知己]. [...] If you can continue living well, I wish that you live your life to the fullest, with both smiles and tears.

how can Fushui bear to take the Crown Prince’s life when he’s received nothing but unwavering trust from him? when he explains who he truly is, when he calls CP foolish for trusting the wrong person, FS is on the brink of tears. his mouth trembles, his breaths shake. when the poison begins to take effect, and CP agonizingly reaches for him, FS takes his hand—just as CP gripped CJ’s lifeless hand so long ago, just as CP reached out to the person he thought was CJ when he fell from his horse. FS takes his hand, sobs, and gives him the antidote.

(Consort Yan’s eunuch is, of course, outraged.

Yu He: If you can’t bear to kill him, then I will!

Fushui: I forbid you. [...] He has nothing left to lose. I forbid you from killing him.)

so, we have the Crown Prince, ruined by his love for Chen Ji—and Fushui, who both took and freely gave the Crown Prince’s life back to him. it’s a love story; it has always been a love story.

and finally, FS gets Ma Haihu killed in episode 53. he picks up the comb MHH carved for Lian Yan’er (a 定情信物!), and when he speaks, ends up telling the story of CP and CJ as well.

There was a woman who sacrificed her life for your bright future. You only needed to enjoy it, yet you took the road of self-destruction.

and then he remembers what CP said to him in the prison in episode 51.

CP: If, in this world, fate truly exists, then so do the hearts of men.

FS remarks now: If you have a heart, you will be easily hurt, or even lose your life.

heartless Fushui, who kills without batting an eye, who nearly upturned the entire Tang dynasty, who doesn’t know of love. in the end, he couldn’t bear to end the Crown Prince’s life.

so, yeah. these three broke my heart. i really wonder what Chen Ji would say to the Crown Prince when they see each other again at last in the afterlife. what the Crown Prince would say to Chen Ji. how violent love can be. what it means to live in someone’s memory. or maybe they would return to the river and spend a long day fishing together again.

Notes of a Crocodile by Qiu Miaojin, translated by Bonnie Huie, is an often puzzling whirl of a story about the lonely, depressed inner life of lesbian Lazi, living as a student in late 1980s Taipei. Lazi suffers through hot and cold relationships with women in which she is both hopelessly in love and fiercely, stubbornly aloof. Meanwhile, vignettes reveal a side cast: the strange rich Meng Sheng, the troubled gay Chu Kuang, and the sapphic Tun Tun and Zhi Rou.

As the narrator persists, the people around her struggle with their sapphic innocent and yet tortured loves. In small satiric fables, the nation has become obsessed with 'crocodiles', mirroring an obsessive fascination and homophobia that gripped Taiwan at the time—they want to know everything about the crocodile, who lives quietly wrapped in a human skin, trying not to be discovered.

The narrator is self-destructive and often suicidal, self-harming. It is even more tragic when you realize that Miaojin was lost to suicide at the age of 26, and her novels were published posthumously, her fame as a countercultural, queer Asian icon coming after her death. While the novel could be scattered and confusing, its emotion is vivid and infectious, and even as I lost some of the threads, the narrator and her friends, their characters, burned through the pages. Their longing, hurt, and fears stuck with me after I had turned the final page.

Li Hong Bin and Xiong Xi Rou went both great lengths to protect a lie and fight for their love.

Xi Rou impressed the Li Family not only with her incredible talent in painting but with her good character and loyalty.

Despite finding out about the truth, Hong Bin wanted to marry Xi Rou for real.

They could have confessed earlier but maybe because that was the key point in the story.One small lie turned out to be a bigger one.

Xi Rou indeed was thrown out of the palace while Hong Bin was away. But when he look for her, She shared to him a good news.This time around she is carrying his child.

Li Jing Rou conspired with Song Zhi to earn his title back and be the Emperor while Song Zhi wants the Yun Iron Mineral Map the most valuable treasure of the Li Family.

In the end goodness prevailed.The chaos ended.

Song Qin and Jing You who were both like cats and dogs have now finally settled down.

Ye Zhi Han and Ning Xin are now expecting another set of twins.Ning Xin came from a noble family.

Xirou together with the three young descendants of the Li Family uncover the truth of the four arhats and also found the mastermind behind all of this.

Xirou and Hong Bin have an adorable daughter who will surely inherit the wits and talents of her parents.

The night has been advertised by multiple commercials in the civilian’s homes, and even dead bodies littered on some residence lawns. It’s dusk on a Thursday in February. The gates to the Fire and Ice Festival are lowered after hours of waiting in the biting Chicago tundra, and the crowd, over 4,000 strong, rushes in. Most are expecting a night of drunken freedom, cozied up by the outdoor heaters that promise a warm welcome, but some foresee the chaos bound to erupt across the lawn.

The first act takes the stage, and anyone who isn’t inebriated, courtesy of the open bar, is perceptive enough to realize that, no, that’s not Kanye West. Instead they are mesmerized by the lyrical lip syncher Dante Yeast—he looks enough like him, it’s better not to question it. One would think that the O’Sheas, Vasiles, and the Fausts all gathered in one spot would spell disaster, yet the evening rolls on without a hitch, despite the tensions slowly building in its periphery. Fausts members, too, are scattered across the ocean of bodies, but some faces are missing, figureheads who pull the strings.

 Maybe they’re absorbed by the crowd; maybe they thought better of attending, but there’s a sense of unease that settles in the air. It’s not quite right, but no one can put a finger on why. Another beer, and the thought is lost is the swell of the music—if they didn’t know any better, they’d think the bass replicates the sound of distant explosions.

CHARACTER A, CHARACTER B, CHARACTER C, are approached by the venue to play as impersonators for the opening act of the show. However, it turns out…they are the show along with other noteworthy impersonators. 

CHARACTER D & CHARACTER E end up camped out at the ticket box office on the other side of the lawn seats. They want a refund for the musical event after their cards were erroneously charged the next day on ADAM & EVE. Much to their surprise they come face to face with CHARACTER F( Faust ).

AUTUMN DAWSON is shitfaced prior to arriving at the music festival. They try to crowd surf before the opening act, and would get immediately dropped if NATHAN BURR didn’t catch their fall. 

CHARACTER I & CHARACTER J purchased tickets to meet the bands backstage. They are led by the security detail of the event to two tents filled with a scent of gunpowder. Upon further inspection, they find a crate of fireworks. Do what you will.

CHARACTER K jumps on stage to hijack the mic and accidentally falls and breaks their ankle.

CHARACTER L & CHARACTER M are dosed with PCP by a stranger serving up “free” cocktails. Everything is a blur and they both snap back to reality an hour later, but they’re in the middle of an intense fist fight.

EFFIE FAUST & CHARACTER O engage in a mud wrestling contest that is being judged by no one whatsoever. 

CHARACTER P & CHARACTER Q make out in a port-o-potty, but realize shortly after they’re locked inside. It’s up to CHARACTER R to either let them out...or tip them over.

CHARACTER S is mistaken as Pat Benatar. ASLI DEMIR drunkenly convinces them to go on stage to sing LOVE IS A BATTLEFIELD.

 CHARACTER U & CHARACTER V go hard on the alcoholic beverages & psychedelic treats  at the start of the festival, by the end of it neither of them know where their shoes or wallets are. 

CHARACTER W finds their soulmate in a drunken stupor and grinds on them for the better half of two hours, only to realize the grindee is ZHI ROU, who has been uncomfortably shifting away from them this entire time. 

CHARACTER Y breaks all of their glow sticks and covers themselves in the liquid. It’s all fun and games until that shit starts to burn. CHARACTER Z does their best to quench CHARACTER Y with every bottled water they can find.

 CHARACTER A1, CHARACTER B1, & CHARACTER C1 are hired security guards for the event. They have no clue who hired them to do it. 

INGRID VASILE  starts to overdose on COCAINE. LEV VASILE notices their struggle and assists them to the med tent. DOMINIC MURPHY is around the med tent and notices the commotion. 

 CHARACTER  F1 tries to charge their phone using the musical equipment & gets electrocuted. Also it starts to play the most recent song listened to on their phone which is SONG OF THEIR CHOICE. 

GRIFFIN DYER is held up at security when they try to enter the venue, because they tried to smuggle in a small animal. CHARACTER H1 isn’t really security and jacks the animal instead.

SERENITY MICHAELS starts to question their sanity when they see a small animal run in circles in front of them and jet off towards the direction of the port-o-potty. 

RACHEL BYRNE feels something small and furry scaling the back of their dress, and, assuming it’s someone’s hand, slaps DAHLIA CAVALLI in the mouth before the small animal scurries away and they have to apologize.

CHARACTER L1 chases the small animal and just when they are sure they’ve caught it, the animal bites them on the neck. CHARACTER M1, who is higher than a motherfucker and hallucinating, sees CHARACTER L1 cradling their neck and automatically assumes a vampiric transformation is happening. CHARACTER L1 has to survive the following attack from a stranger with a pocket knife.

CHARACTER N1 is on their fifth drink at the venue. They hear a loud slurping noise, only to find the small animal lapping their beer in hand. Out of surprise they scream which causes the animal to shit on their hand and run away. CHARACTER O1 looks on in amazement, wonder, and terror as CHARACTER N1 wipes their hand on an unknowing CHARACTER P1. CHARACTER O1 is conflicted if they should say anything but takes a Snapchat video of the whole scenario anyway. It goes viral on Tik Tok the following evening.

The small animal finally gets caught by SANTIAGO PEREZ in a battle that lasts 10 minutes. The small animal is then given to CHARACTER R1 whom they assume is the owner. 

CHARACTER S1 is lost to the world, and passes out directly in front of CHARACTER T1 that had just spent twenty minutes in line for a cup of water. The cup of water is spilled on top of CHARACTER S1.

NAOMI WASHINGTON & CHARACTER V1 become instant buddies when they chant to the sound of “SHOTS” around the crowd. IRINA KOSHKIN takes this literally and pulls out their gun ready to fire. 

CHARACTER X1, CHARACTER Y1, CHARACTER Z1 all show up to the venue wearing the same exact outfit. You have declared them your number 1 enemy for the entirety of the music festival. 

CHARACTER A2 is high as fuck and thinks they’re making a flower crown for CHARACTER B2…..except it’s a crown of shrooms instead. CHARACTER B2 wears the crown, but has to swat CHARACTER C2 away who keeps trying to eat them. 

CHARACTER D2, CHARACTER E2, CHARACTER F2 suffer from dehydration. They try to find help at the med tent, but they can’t find where it is. 

ROSA LEON gets handsy with the bartender at the open bar and leads them away for a quick fuck, allowing RYAN HAYES and CHARACTER I2 to raid the bar freely.

 CHARACTER J2 is the aforementioned bartender and realizes a moment too late their station is being cleared out. Instead of returning to their position, they throw on some neon bracelets and join the party.

 CHARACTER K2 is doing some sick backflips in the middle of the crowd and are called out by the currently performing act mid-set for drawing attention away from the stage. CHARACTER K2 does another backflip to retaliate, but accidentally kicks CHARACTER L2 in the face.

JESSE VALENCIA hijacks a ELECTRIC BLUE STRATOCASTER from the backstage, and they are not caught. 

DAVUT DEMIR feels like they’re being watched and finds a silhouette with a rifle narrowed in on them perched upon a nearby building. They quickly retreat to find OPHELIA O’SHEA and P2 and warn them about the occurrence, who realize there are multiple snipers surrounding the pavilion. 

CHARACTER Q2 swears they heard a sound of explosions over the music, being in front nearest to the stage. They grab the microphone and scream, “WE’RE ALL GONNA DIE.” CHARACTER R2 & CHARACTER S2 start to openly panic. 

CHARACTER T2 (O’Shea) gets into a physical altercation with CHARACTER U2 (Vasile). They don’t stop until one or the other is knocked unconscious. 

ANDREA REED & BIRDIE MENDOZA try to leave the event, but notice that they’re trapped in the auditorium. CHARACTER X2 makes it to their vehicle, but is stuck in place by the surrounding vehicles around them. Unable to escape fully, they return back to the venue. 

CHARACTER Y2 hates their life at this music venue, because they’re stuck behind a rather sweaty individual. Their sweat keeps hitting them in the face, and at one point, they catch it in their mouth. It incites a ferocious bout of vomiting, and CHARACTER Z2 is trying to help, thinking they’ve been drugged, but CHARACTER Y2 can’t even explain what it is that made them sick.

 TATIANA BLANTER is hit with a spare bullet, but no one is able to find where the source is. As no one around seems to have their gun out. CHARACTER B3 conceals their weapon perfectly. 

 NOVA DEVERAUX suffers a panic attack due to the crowd gathered, and clings onto CLARA DAVILLA who is unable to get them to the med tent.

 CHARACTER E3 feels something warm splash on their face. They are unsure if it’s warm beer or urine. They’re pretty sure it’s warm beer, but remain conflicted the rest of the festival. CHARACTER F3 offers the shirt off their back for CHARACTER E3 to wipe the liquid off their face. 

 CHARACTER G3 is doing photography for the event, but realizes midway through the show that the performers aren’t who they say they are. They spot a face they know to be Faust affiliated in the crowd and scurry off toward the exit, only to be stopped by CHARACTER H3 (Faust) at the door.

MILES ST CLARE is the first to notice the lack of Fausts at the start of the music venue. They make their way to the police station in hopes of figuring it out, but instead they encounter burning police cars and chaos.

I have answered this before but I can’t find the post so:

Mywin

Mywin’s name comes from “Winnifred”, a Welsh name that means “blessed peacemaking”. Her mother called her “‘My Winnifred” and so her nickname is “Mywin”. Her mother’s name Kalnor means “starry sky” in Darnassian. I came up with Tavanar and the closet name like that is the surname “Taverner” that is French for a tavern keeper. The priestesses in my AU are Aceso (coming from Akeso, the Greek goddess of the healing wounds and curing illness), Hebe (Greek goddess of youth) and Eir (meaning “mercy” in Norse). Mywin’s childhood friend is named Tristan which means “bold” in Welsh.

Aleeia

Aleeia is an amalgam of “Ally” (Celtic meaning “noble”) and “Leah” (Hebrew meaning “weary”). I also created her sister’s name, Imeyah. The closest name for her is Amiyah that means “delightful” in Indian. Her father Krol’sha’s name means “broken light” in Eredun and her mother’s name, Ra’mi, means “ "the one who throws the arrow” in Arabic.

Màoxiān

Màoxāin’s name literally means “adventure” in Mandarin. All her family have Mandarian or Chinese, or otherwise Asian names. Her distant grandmother Chyou’s name means “born in the autumn” and her sister Noni’s, Moaxian’s distant aunt, name is a tropical evergreen shrub native to Southern Asia. Màoxāin’s father is Disung and I can’t actually recall what it means. Jiao is her mother, name meaning “beautiful; lovable; to teach”. Her brothers and their name meanings are: Aigou (“patriotic”), Huan Ai (“happy love”) and Liko (“protected by Buddha”). Her sisters names are Zhi Rou (two Chinese herbal plants: zhi, angelica, and ruo, pollia) and Ru Shi (the name of the famous Chinese courtesan and poet Liu Rushi). Her sister-in-law married to Aiguo is Yu Yan (the name of a popular female character written by Jin Yong, Yu Yan is drawn from the phrase “yu xiao yan tan”, which describes women who have beautiful smile”. Their daughter is called Mei (“beautiful”).

Teggie

Teggie’s name derives from “Theresa”, Greek for “harvester”. Her surname Lilliput comes from the term “lilliputian”, an adjective meaning "very small in size". Her mother is Brenna (Irish for “descendant of the sad one”) and her father is Angus (Anglicised form of the Scottish Gaelic and Irish Aonghas, which is composed of Celtic elements meaning "one", and "choice"). Her little brother is Brann (Gaelic for “raven”).

Ronyl

Another name I made up. The closest name I can find is Rony, Hebrew meaning “my song; my joy”. Her father Ayaan’s name is Indian, meaning “Gift Of God”. Her mother Neria (Basque meaning “mine”).

Panae

Another made up name. Closest is “Pangea”, a hypothetical supercontinent that included all current land masses of the world. Her father’s name Kanan means “merchant” or “trader” in Arabic. Her mother Odelia’s is Hebrew for “I will praise the Lord". Her brothers are Elio (A Spanish name meaning sun, and Italian given name which refers to the element helium or from the Latin for the Greek sun-god Helios) and Surya (Hindi for “sun god”. Her sister Thea’s means “goddess” in Greek.

Tahiliana

Yep, another made up one! Closest I can get is an amalgam of “Tatiana” (Russian for Fairy Queen/princess) and “Hilda” (“battle” in Norse”. Her grandmother’s name Ligani is also made up and I can’t find a closet version. Her grandfather is Akuji (coming from many African countries to mean “dead and awake). Her mother’s name is Ulga (closet match is Olga, derived from Scandinavian Helgi, rooted in Norse to mean hearty; blessed, holy) and she has two older sisters, Tahiliana’s aunts: Alvita (Latin for “lively”) and Trinika (Jamaican for “beauty”). Her father’s name is also made up and he is Zen’tec. He has a brother though, Jevan (Nigerian for “life”). Tahiliana has three older brothers: Azacca (Jamaican, name of the spirit guide of agriculture), Ghana (a West African country) and Ziggy (German, composed of the elements 'sig' meaning “victory” and 'frithu' meaning “peace”).

Arieste

An amalgam of “Arietty” (derived from the English “Harriett” meaning “estate ruler") and “Celeste” (Latin for “heavenly”). Her father’s name Raska has an unknown meaning. Her mother’s Analeise means “graced by God’s bounty” in Latin. She has two sisters: Adara (Hebrew for “noble”) and Heidi (German for “noble birth”). Her mother has a younger brother Nadir (Hebrew for “precious”). Arieste’s husband is Vendris, another made up name but his brother’s is German also meaning “noble”. Her mother-in-law is Ethel (from the Old English name Aethelthryth, meaning “noble and strength”) and her father-in-law is called Marquis (French for noble).

Born into a wealthy family, Zhi Rou (or going by her english name as Zara) She could have anything she wanted given to her with a golden spoon. Z could have your head if she wanted to, but opts not to be so gruesome.

Her father was a shipping tycoon in hong kong while her mother is a CFO for a french brand. 

As a kid, she was either left alone with the maids at home, or taken to all parts of the globe by either of her parents. Go big or go home, I supposed.

She went to the best school that money could buy and in there she got the best grades and living up to the expectations.

She was the perfect child in the eyes of her parents. And yeah, she really was.

Going to college was a no brainer, again only the best school for her. Finishing up in with a business degree, she immediately took her masters, all the while knowing that she was going to take over the company.

While she took her masters, she met her husband, (a wc pLS) someone her parents approve of (shocking) and they got married right after she got her masters degree. 

A year into the marriage, she got pregnant and everyone was ecstatic. Even though it scared her to care for another albeit smaller human being she took it as a challenge and drove her to achieve the best mom status.

Nine months later, Lu Shing was born. (His american name can be discussed with the rper who will take the WC)

Everything was perfect for them.

TW: ILLNESS, CHILD DEATH: Except it was wasn’t. They found out that Shing suffered from a congenital heart failure. And it wasn’t something that she did or took, it was something that was genetic and passed down. Shing was in and out of the hospital, for the first few weeks of his life until his heart stopped beating. Zhi Rou could swear that that was the moment her heart stopped too.

Reeling from the loss, she buried herself in work. Not letting herself rest so that she doesn’t have to think / mourn about the loss.

That also put a strain with husband who took a different kind of approach when it came to mourning.

After two years of marriage they called it quits. 

That was four years ago.

She learned not to get attached to anyone so that when they leave, it wouldn’t hurt as much.

So she became a workaholic. Rising from the ranks in her father’s company, knowing that while she was to be his successor, she needed to prove herself worthy of such title.
