Nog just took a bowl of popcorn from Vic as if he was going to eat it. But Vic is a hologram. They're inside the holodeck. Did Nog just forget? Did Vic have real popcorn? Is all the food in the holodeck real just in case? Isn't that an incredible waste of power to replicate all the time? Where does it go when the holograms eat it? Where does it go when the program ends?
#i'm sure someone far more invested than i figured all this out decades ago#talkytalktalk#star trek#ds9

about a month ago my dad, without consulting anyone, decided to make an appointment for the cats to go to the vet
four cats
on the same day
yay
I immediately took that day off of work because obviously this will be an all hands situation. something he clearly, from his comments, expected it to be and yet at the same time he makes other comments about being shocked that anyone is planning on helping
I didn't tell him I took the day off, in part because I don't want to suddenly be in charge of all the things. this was a mistake because now the appointment is a week later. I genuinely don't know if I can get that day off or even go in late so I can at least not stress about helping to box up four cats when I'm trying to get ready for work
even if I can get that day off, I really hate this. I want this done. I want it over with. I want this event, which will be stressful and painful for all of us, to be behind me. I want to give them their flea medicine, which I can't do until after this because our most nervous bb will be on edge for at LEAST a week after the medicine and we need him trusting so we can betray him by putting him in a box. I just want this over with already

I really just need to share this absolutely atrocious Pride and Prejudice cover with someone because I feel like, despite the tagline, whoever put this together has never actually read or even heard of P&P. Possibly not Jane Austen either.

I've seen stationary videos before saying that "this pen will make you want to write" and I was always very dismissive of these comments, but I just bought some new pens and oh wow do I want to write all the things

So I'm reading this criminal's autobiography and it is... wow.
We've all heard those creepy, sometimes real, sometimes not, stories of someone living in the walls of someone's house. Well, that's what this guy did. For more than a year he lived in a little, unnoticed bit of space on the side of a family's house. From there, he could watch them and hear them and eventually he convinced himself he could be, I don't even know, part of their family? He worked up the courage to introduce himself and it went about as badly as you'd expect, with him beaten and fleeing the scene.
He knew better than to remain in the area and lived on the road for a while. He claims he did some good deeds along the way, but there's not enough context given to confirm any of it.
What we can corroborate is his story of finding a little boy, young enough he figured he could steal him and raise him to love him. The boy fought back and, as little boys do, threatened that his father would deal with the man. Unfortunately, the guy had a grudge against the dad and, when he heard the name, decided to kill the boy.
The man then, that same night, found a sleeping woman and, feeling some lusty feelings, decided to wake her, only to immediately decide she'd reject him too and so he blamed her for the murder he just committed? And then planted evidence on her so she'd be blamed?
(This works, by the way. I am so mad it works.)
At this point the narrative devolves into protests that if only someone, anyone had ever shown any kindness to him, he'd be the best of men and love the whole human race.
Yeah, sure.
And all of this he presents as justification to his dad/god/creator for why he should make another unholy abomination just like him, but female this time, so they can be hated together.

At the end of "Waltz" Sisko gives his speech about how life isn't all shades of grey because Dukat is clearly true evil and, darn it, Sisko is gonna be there stop him. It all sounds great and noble. Except Sisko literally could have killed him ten minutes earlier in the episode and didn't. Not in the tired "hero chooses to spare the villain because he's ~better" way. This was more the "trapped with a serial killer and for some reason doesn't kill them when they're down" way, which is arguably worse.

the most realistic thing in Aladdin is the high ranking government employee getting a man killed for a crime he didn't commit and being allowed to keep his job with nothing but a mild talking-to as punishment
