Good riddance to him. I’ve unfollowed him since the BLM wave in 2020. He is a grifter. An opportunist and a hateful individual who encourages hatred. Plus I remember his actions regarding the way he used the murder of tamir rice for his own benefit. It’s been FQ him but of course since people who were warning about him included black women, nobody listened to them until this year. So fq him and everyone who doubted those who warned you all about him including me. Bye, him being banned is a Christmas miracle.

His bitch ass AND his musty mouth ass supporters are fucking vile trying to go after Samaria Rice (Tamir Rice's mother) on social media. They have THE FUCKING GALL to enter this woman's mentions/comments and HARASS her.
WHY?
Because she had the good sense to question the way he and his ilk are conducting themselves in his so-called "grassroots movement" and the way that he seems to profit off of Black pain, ESPECIALLY the way that they're treating HER SON'S memory.
This is part of an overall pattern of his to try and silence Black women activists and it's fucking absurd that he still has supporters and people who will defend him. Just read Hanna's informative thread, please. What she included is only A FRACTION of the fucked up shit that comes out about this man every six months at this point.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE. WE NEED TO GET HIS ASS OUTTA HERE.

*The White House has a history of giving vague, unhelpful responses or ignoring these petitions but I’d still suggest signing and making your voices as loud as possible. It can’t hurt to try.
@icatboy on Twitter: “you guys don’t sign those white house petitions sadly they don’t do shit, those were only effective under obama’s administration and mean nothing in 7rump’s term. they aren’t obligated to give us a statement after 100k signature sadly”
I still have them linked below in the petitions section for those who want to sign

Contact Officials
GEORGE FLOYD is the name of the man who was murdered by DEREK CHAUVIN (badge 1087), TOU THAO (badge 7162), Thomas Lane, and J Alexander Kueng. If you truly care about getting justice, make phone calls to these numbers and express your anger. We cannot let another killer cop walk free.
UPDATE: As of May 29, Chauvin has been charged for third-degree murder. Continue pressuring officials for harsher charges because what he did was clearly not an accident. Also continue pushing for the other cops who were at the scene to be charged.

I am writing to you in regards to the incident that occurred at 100 High Park Avenue on May 27th, 2020. A 29 year-old Black woman, Regis, has died after allegedly falling off her balcony, despite police being present.
As a concerned citizen, I am very upset and disturbed at the events that took place and the allegations that this caused on the part of the police. I am demanding justice and answers as to the death of Regis Korchinski-Paquet.
A complete and transparent public and independent investigation needs to take place. Charges need to be brought to all the officers involved, as well as all information and evidence should be made available to the public.
Sincerely,
[your name]

ID: Screenshot of tweet from march 16 2021 with an attached statement. The tweet reads: OFFICIAL STATEMENT FROM SAMARIA RICE, MOTHER OF TAMIR RICE AND LISA SIMPSON, MOTHER OF RICHARD RISHER. Myself, @DaShaunLH, and @likefannielou had a conference call with Samaria and Lisa, and below is their full statement regarding Tamika Mallory, Shaun King, Benjamin Crump etc"
The full text of the statement can be screen read here
End ID
Folks please, if you want to help someone help them directly. Grifters are profiteering off people's grief while those grieving are given nothing by these grifters & taken from every day. How much money has passed through Crump, King, or Mallory's hands that could have gone to pay the rest of Rice's funeral costs?
The rest of the thread can be found here where it summarizes the demands made by Samira et al & offers alternative sources to donate to that would actually help the mothers of the murdered.
Please don't let your guilt guide your actions. Your contribution is not meant to absolve you of your sins it is meant to help those in need. It's not meant to line the pockets of grifters it's meant to help level the scales using power of the people.
When you see the "advocates" on international television but the ones they claim to advocate on the behalf of are still in debt while the advocacy organization is raking it in? You should ask questions.

on george floyd;
to preface this, i am not Black. i am a poc living outside of america but i am not a Black american and therefore my voice is not the one that matters. this is simply a fact post for y’all who are being silent or have missed this somehow. this post is centred around the current situation in america pertaining to the riots in minnesota as well as the murder of george floyd.
george floyd was arrested and murdered by police officer derek chauvin on monday, the 25th of may in powderhorn, south of minneapolis. he did not resist arrest. derek chauvin kneeled on his neck for seven minutes, at least three of which he was handcuffed and pleading for his life. the other three officers did not make any move to stop chauvin. their names are tou thao, thomas lane, and j alexander kueng. as of now, all officers have been fired and chauvin has been arrested with third degree murder (29.05.2020), which deems the murder as “accidental.” floyd’s last words were “i can’t breathe.”
here is where you can donate to the minnesota freedom fund.
here is where you can donate directly to floyd’s family.
here is a petition you can sign that the white house must take into account if it reaches 100,000 signatures in 30 days. check your email afterwards to verify your signatures. i believe this only works for american citizens, however please correct me if i am wrong.
here is a comprehensive google doc of things you can do like donating, organising, calling people to demand justice, reading up on Black political theory, etc.
here is a google doc of international resources that include things like postal codes you can use to sign petitions or to call people.
text FLOYD to 55156 (if in the usa) or sign this petition to demand justice for floyd and to charge the police officers with murder.
here is a list of political books by Black writers to educate yourselves if you have the funds.
here is a huge google drive you can use to read up on Black history and activism.
here is a thread of mental health resources for Black people.
here is an EXTREMELY important thread on protesting safety if you are planning to protest. includes how to treat tear gas, what to do/not to do, how to treat fractures, important gear, etc.
if you are planning to protest, now is the time to remove all private information from social media. remove your name, your job, anything that could be traced back and linked to you. do not organise in twitter dms, these aren’t encrypted to my knowledge. wear masks, cover your face. if you are white or white-passing, use your body as a shield from the police to cover for Black people. do not give out press statements. wear all black to distort your image, do not wear anything with which people can identify you with. cellular data stays OFF. everything beats uber or anywhere where you have to give your name out. cover your skin as much as possible because tear gas burns and the particles will stay in your clothes and hair for days. gloves and caps are always recommended.
and remember, Black lives always matter, not just after a tragedy. do not forget this. because this is the way the world works, the majority of non-Black people will forget and move on. but do not forget this, do not forget george floyd, do not forget trayvon martin, do not forget tamir rice, do not forget breonna taylor, do not forget ahmaud arbery, do not forget their names, nor the movement, nor the fact that Black people die every day just for wanting to live. silence is being complicit.
keep yourself educated. support and uplift Black voices. stay safe out there.

@sorrowwaited / rosella “It’s been a long time since I smelled beautiful.” rosella to zelda in tamir and being dramatique
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Is that so?” Zelda turned toward her friend, studying her thoughtfully for a moment before she stepped closer. Gentle fingers threaded Rosella’s long, blonde hair behind her ear, leaving space for Zelda to lean in, breath fanning gently across Rosella’s skin, and breathe in deep through her nose. She pulled away with a gentle smile. “I would say...” she carefully tucked another stray strand of Rosella’s flaxen hair, “you smell as beautiful as ever, Rosella. As lovely as your namesake.”

Adapted from a twitter thread, my thoughts for Good Friday this year.
I'll never forget a conversation I saw on twitter years ago, between a theologian trying to explain that the scandal of the Cross is that Christ was crucified in exactly the manner of 'common criminals' and a layperson determined to 'esteem it higher' than earthly things. What Christ accomplished on the Cross is indeed above all else, and no one was claiming that other executions had the same eternal effect. But consider that He shared the hill with criminals whom He likened to Himself and welcomed into Heaven.
[The rest of this post will discuss capital punishment and state violence and killer cops, in case you reasonably wish not to see such things.]
Consider that crucifixion was equivalent to hanging or the firing squad or lethal injection. Consider, given its public nature, that it was equivalent to cops killing people in the street without due process. Consider that the Lord chose the death He would die.
"Whatsoever you do to the least of these, you do unto Me", He said, and proved it by coming in the form of 'the least of these', sharing His life and table with 'the least of these', dying as and among 'the least of these'. By refusing to connect the Cross to other crosses, the Crucifixion to other crucifixions, we become incapable of seeing Christ in modern victims of state violence. When the Romans killed Him, it wasn't for being G-d (they didn't think He was), but for being a problem.
(When we pretend anyone but the Roman state was responsible for His death we become complicit in millennia of Christian antisemitism and we need to stop that also.)
If you can't see Christ in Michael Brown, or George Floyd, or Tamir Rice, then in my opinion, you've missed His message entirely and should maybe start over. Remember that He was a criminal despite being without sin and you'll begin to get the picture. It's beyond me how anyone can see Him speaking to His mother from the Cross and act like He was the only one in that position. Like no one else has a family and a life they deserve to live, even if they're deemed criminals.
The Cross is more than a cross, for sure. But in appearance, form, and earthly consequence, it was identical, and that was the point. The ones who hewed the wood didn't know it would be a Cross, because He wasn't differentiated - he died as a common criminal. His own disciples didn't know He would rise, and most didn't believe Mary when she told them she'd seen Him, even though He'd explicitly told them He would return. And you want me to believe His death looked, to human eyes, different from the thieves next to him?
As with most of my posts and threads like this, I don't have a set ending. I'm not a priest or even a homilist, just extremely opinionated. It just feels blasphemous to be a Christian without working to end state violence, without seeing Christ in the victims.

Black Lives Matter: They Are Us
Tumblr media
“The white policeman, standing on a Harlem street corner, finds himself at the very center of the revolution now occurring in the world. He is not prepared for it — naturally, nobody is — and, what is possibly much more to the point, he is exposed, as few white people are, to the anguish of the black people around him. Even if he is gifted with the merest mustard grain of imagination, something must seep in. He cannot avoid observing that some of the children, in spite of their color, remind him of children he has known and loved, perhaps even of his own children. He knows that he certainly does not want his children living this way. He can retreat from his uneasiness in only one direction: into a callousness which very shortly becomes second nature. He becomes more callous, the population becomes more hostile, the situation grows more tense, and the police force is increased. One day, to everyone’s astonishment, someone drops a match in the powder keg and everything blows up. Before the dust has settled or the blood congealed, editorials, speeches, and civil-rights commissions are loud in the land, demanding to know what happened. What happened is that Negroes want to be treated like men.”
James Baldwin wrote that 60 years ago, and it seems little has changed. American systems of all kinds — banking, real estate, education, politics, and of course law enforcement — continue to engage in a complex array of racism, some with genteel violence and some more brutal, each industry carrying forward genes of prejudice implanted by earlier generations. The threads of this racism are tightly and countlessly woven into every corner of our social fabric. If you haven’t felt them, it only means you have been shielded by them instead of crushed. “Negroes want to be treated like men” because then as now: black lives matter, too.
As a white Christian, I am troubled by the responses of many of my spiritual siblings. Jesus could not have been more clear in the parable of the lost sheep, the lost coin, and especially the prodigal son: when one of us is in trouble, and others are safe, we must focus on the concerns of the one until they are restored. Recall the prodigal son’s older brother, grumbling “all sons matter!” to his father, who responds that sometimes we need to focus on one son. And recall Cain, another older brother, with his famously callous retort to God, “Am I supposed to be responsible for my brother?” — to which God replies, “Yes, and his blood is crying out to me from the ground where you killed him!”
White Christians, including me, have acted too often like these Biblical brothers toward our black siblings. We may not have personally drawn blood, but at the very least, we have ignored or justified the police and systems that do. You and I would not want to be treated the way our black citizens are, and thus we have blasphemously violated Christ’s greatest command. In the end, we will answer to God for how we (and our police) treat other people. Our systems shed their blood, and its cries are heard in heaven.
And, as a white father, I am haunted by Baldwin’s note about children. Yes, think of our children. As parents, are we going to retreat from our uneasiness about racism “into a callousness which very shortly becomes second nature”? Judging from internet conversations, it feels like many of us are already there. Do we really want to raise our kids with the knowledge that we could have changed things, but didn’t? Kids are watching, and whether we engage in humble kindness or proud callousness, it will become part of our legacy.
Even if you and I merely inherited the sins of our forefathers — and none of us is that innocent — we own those sins now. Nobody inherits money and then claims it is not theirs to spend. So it is with systemic racism, and white privilege. Somehow we are happy to bank on its benefits while still claiming it isn’t our responsibility.
Elsewhere, I’ve heard that George Floyd’s murder is a wake-up call. If so, we have been willfully deaf to all the prior calls: Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, Trayvon Martin, Tamir Rice, Atatiana Jefferson, Yvette Smith, Alton Sterling, Laquan McDonald, Michael Brown, Freddie Gray, Philando Castile, Sandra Bland, Oscar Grant, Eric Garner, Walter Scott, Tyre King, John Crawford III, Manuel Ellis, and too many human etceteras to count. Read their names out loud; each is an alarm. Unfortunately, the house may burn down around us before we admit the fire alarm has been ringing for generations.
For those who still doubt the existence of systemic racism or police brutality, it is time to study.
John Oliver’s episode on Police Accountability is a good intro.
Sarah Sophie Flicker and Alyssa Klein assembled Anti-Racism Resources for White People: a long list of articles, books, videos, and movies to provide history and perspective.
To make that list easier to digest, and harder to avoid the excuses of time, Autumn Gupta and Bryanna Wallace created Justice in June, which arranges the same anti-racism material into daily itineraries of 10-, 25-, and 45-minute units.
For parents and teachers, the Center for Racial Justice in Education has Resources for Talking about Race, Racism and Racialized Violence with Kids, and Katrina Michie put together Your Kids Aren’t Too Young To Talk About Race.
And if you still somehow think white men are underprivileged, I tackled that with a truckload of data in Dear Fathers of White Boys: What Color is the Future?.
While learning, set aside your current beliefs, keep an open mind, and think about yourself with honesty and humility. And remember: if we get to learn about racism by reading and listening and watching, instead of experiencing it regularly in our own lives, that means we are privileged.
Once educated, act. Don’t just be not racist; be anti-racist in your conversations and activity, online and offline. Participate in local protests. Write to government officials. Donate and otherwise support justice movements; this spreadsheet from Black Lives Matters and this list from The Strategist give a lot of options.
Most importantly, change yourself. In the spirit of honesty: I still find racism in myself. I am truly sorry for that. I am better than I was, but I am not yet who I should be. As one protest sign said, “I’m sorry I’m late. I had a lot to learn.” But white racism will not end until whites fix it. Will Baldwin’s description of racism still ring true in another 60 years? If so, that will be our fault.
Baldwin closed with characteristic insight:
“It is a terrible, an inexorable, law that one cannot deny the humanity of another without diminishing one’s own: in the face of one’s victim, one sees oneself.”
Do we see the victims? Do we see their faces? They are a reflection of us. In truth, they are us.

As you may have noticed, Midnight City was postponed last week, as it did not feel right to continue with business as usual while emotions surrounding the Black Lives Matter protests are still raw. While Midnight City is once again continuing this week, I thought it important to issue the following statement of accountability.
Some detective-based media often goes hand-in-hand with cop shows, which have a long history of propaganda – glorifying the police, or displaying them as quirky everymen. The police force does not protect and serve. It has been shown time and time again that the police abuse the power granted to them, and in particular abuse Black people with this power. There are alternatives to the police in real life, and I encourage you to read resources on prison abolition, which I will name below.
Into the Midnight City ostensibly advertises itself as about “magical private detectives”. However, I would like to state that at no point are police ever involved in the narrative or displayed as just, and justice to villains/antagonists never involves jail. This statement is not activism. This statement is not the be-all and end-all of this matter. But it will allow you to hold me, a white artist, accountable for my own views, regardless, due to fiction’s role in shaping real world thought.
Thank you for reading. Remember the black lives that were lost to the hands of police violence – George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Tony McDade, Tamir Rice, Philando Castile, Alton Sterling, Ahmaud Arbery, Eric Garner, and tragically many others, many whose names we don’t know – humans who shouldn’t have had to die for Black voices to be heard. Solidarity forever. Black Lives Matter.

“I watched the entire video of the Tamir Rice shooting, and he didn’t do anything wrong!” - speakinvain, 2018
Tumblr media
Apparently walking around with a realistic pellet gun and pointing it at people to make them think it was a real gun and a real threat isn’t “wrong”. Or did she not watch that video? Probably not, it’s much shorter than 20 minutes.
Incidentally, OP of that thread blocked me because I was driving a truck through her Narrative. It’s funny how I’ve never seem a single Rice supporter explain exactly how the cops were supposed to know the “toy” gun was fake, much less how the caller did.

White terrorism may be made more obvious again by Trump’s cult base but it’s always been here and the violence is far more extensive than we like to believe. I didn’t know about the murders of black congressmen after the Civil War. The whole thread is worth reading.
Trump whines that the legal consequences for his crimes are equivalent to a lynching. What self-entitled bullshit. These are still the real victims: Botham Jean, Sandra Bland, Tamir Rice. Just the latest victims of a long campaign by white terrorists.

[ID - a thread of tweets by Kristin Rawls‏ @kristinrawls posted on Jan. 17 2019 that say:
Ahem, WHITE PEOPLE: Please stop supporting Shaun King, RTing Shaun King, giving money to Shaun King and participating in targeted harassment on behalf of Shaun King. He doxxed and threatened a young queer Black college student this week. #ISupportClarissa
He has also been sending cease and desist letters to Black activists and writers who have criticized his work. Black women in particular have been warning about him for years, and you should have listened.
I see that it's almost entirely Black people who are talking about this AGAIN, so it seems like the rest of you are STILL ignoring this.
He sent his 1.1 million followers to harass a *college student.* This is an abuse of relative power and an attempt at intimidation.
He went after @Blackamazon too, and... That just cannot happen. I was there when Hugo and White Feminism came for Sydette, and this is personal to me at this point.
STOP supporting this abusive asshole. And have some shame about all the Black women you've been ignoring who've just been trying to keep other people from being burned the same way.
To be clear, he is threatening Black people with defamation lawsuits over critical tweets they've written. It's unclear whether he has really retained the prominent lawyers he claims to have retained, but either way, this is bullying and intimidation. end ID]
Also, it’s been confirmed that the lawyers King claims to have hired don’t represent him in any capacity. One of those attorneys is Ben Crump, who you may remember was Tamir Rice’s family lawyer. He is lying and claiming prominent civil rights attorneys are backing his efforts at harassing these women.
Stop supporting him.
