The dream faded away as the person, dreaming was waking up. Tantabus, having spent the last minute, hunting someone stuck to the floor with gum strings, halted in his sprint and growling. His body - previously a gigantic black panther, marred with scars across his muzzles and sides - shifted back into his usual shape. He hadn't dropped too much in size, but he now resembled a big, black cat with green eyes more.

Tantabus sneezed and turned to face Morpheus. "Can I ask you something, Sir?", he addressed his Master and Creator with a respectful bow of the head, "Why exactly am I a house cat? In ninety per cent of people's nightmares, I am normally a lion or panther or tiger. Why make a house cat when you are going to change her shape anyway as soon as I have to do anything?"

          💤DREAMS AND NIGHTMARES STAYED IN THE DREAMING they were not encouraged to leave and enter the waking world, as they could endanger mortals. Even so some of them have been bold before, the Corinthian being one of them. His escape had forced Dream to keep a closer eye on some of his most precious Nightmares. After all Corinthian has been one of his favorites, before he escaped.

          Now, as the new day was coming in, Dream of the Endless sat on his throne, in the throne room of his castle. All nothing but creations of his own abilities, because he was the Dreaming - as the Dreaming was himself. His dark starry eyes shifted towards the end of the stairs as soon as he heard something sneeze. It was Tantabus - one of his nightmares, a house cat he had created many moons ago. The creature entered the throne room, without invitation.

          “I didn’t ask for your presence.” He said before the creature could even ask. No one dare walking into the room, unless Dream himself had called for them. But he did not sent the cat away, instead allowed him to talk. “You may.” The King answered and waited. The question was unexpected as well, no one dare to question his decisions. “You dare to question me? Dream of the Endless, your master?” A croak-croak could be heard as Matthew the raven flew towards his throne.

have i ever expressed how much i hate the idea that luna only turned into nightmare moon because some smoke cloud manipulated her and then possessed her. cause i hate that

Y'know I do have a vague idea for an Infection AU, the hard part is that I don't want it to feel too out of place from MLP but also make it just uncanny enough that it feels weird.

Sleepwalker Infection - Stages

If you run into a Stage 4 Infected, run. Any contact will infect you, which seems to be a mutation of the Tantabus's original ability to transfer to other ponies through nightmares. Now, although it doesn't seem to be able to travel to other ponies through nightmares anymore, unless an infected visits another in their dreams, it can do so in the waking world, like a virus.
