Adorecast – Live Perpetual Adoration
Rite of Eucharistic Exposition and Benediction
Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament
Stand: The altar server enters the chapel, followed by the presider carrying the Luna with the Host.
We begin to sing a selected song relating to the liturgical season or the mystery of the Eucharist.
Kneel: While the presider places the Luna with the Host into the monstrance on the altar.
Once the presider has reached the front of the altar and kneels, he will lead all in singing the Salutaris or some other appropriate Eucharistic song.
In English:
O Saving Victim O saving Victim, op'ning wide To thy great name be endless praise, The gate of heav'n to man below, Immortal Godhead, One in three. Our foes press on from ev'ry side; Oh, grant us endless length of days Thine aid supply, thy strength bestow. In our true native land with thee. (Amen.)
or
In Latin:
O salutaris Hostia Uni trinoque Domino Quae coeli pandis ostium: Sit sempiterna gloria, Bella premunt hostilia, Qui vitam sine termino Da robur, fer auxilium Nobis donet in patria. (Amen.)
Stand or be Seated: After the presider has incensed the monstrance, he will wait a few minutes before standing and walking to the ambo to start the reading(s). If the Gospel is to be proclaimed, the presider will instruct all to stand. Otherwise, all will remain seated during the non-Gospel scripture reading(s). This is followed by a short reflection applicable to the reading and the quiet time of adoration.
Adoration
Kneel or be Seated: After the reading(s) are completed, the presider and altar server(s) will go to their assigned seating to start their private portion(s) of the adoration/devotion.
Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament
Kneel: Once the individual, private adoration/devotion is completed for the hour, the presider and altar server will return to the front of the altar. While the presider incenses the monstrance, all sing the Tantum Ergo (or another appropriate Eucharistic song):
In English:
Tantum Ergo Down in adoration falling To the everlasting Father, Lo, the sacred host we hail; And the Son who reigns on high, Lo, o'er ancient forms departing, With the Spirit blest proceeding Newer rites of grace prevail; Forth from each eternally, Faith for all defects supplying, Be salvation, honor, blessing, Where the feeble senses fail. Might, and endless majesty. (Amen.)
In Latin:
Tantum ergo Sancramentum Genitori, Genitoque Veneremur cernui: Laus et jubilatio Et antiquum documentum Salus, honor, virtus quoque Novo cedat ritui Sit et benedicto: Praestet fides supplementum Procedenti ab utroque Sensuum defectui. Compar sit laudatio. (Amen.)
All remain kneeling when the Presider says, “Let us pray”:
Lord our God, you have given us the True Bread from Heaven. In the strength of this food may we live always by your life and rise in glory on the last day. We ask this through Christ our Lord. (Amen.)
or
Lord Jesus Christ, you gave us the Eucharist as the memorial of your suffering and death. May our worship of this sacrament of your body and blood help us to experience the salvation you won for us and the peace of the kingdom where you live with the Father and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. (Amen.)
or
Lord our God, in this great sacrament, we come into the presence of Jesus Christ, your Son. Born of the Virgin Mary and crucified for our salvation. May we who declare our faith in this fountain of love and mercy. Drink from it the water of everlasting life. We ask this through Christ our Lord. (Amen.)
(or another appropriate prayer may be used)
All remain kneeling while the Presider elevates the monstrance and as all gathered then
recite the Divine Praises.
The Divine Praises
Blessed be God. Blessed be his Holy Name. Blessed be Jesus Christ, true God and true Man. Blessed be the Name of Jesus. Blessed be his most Sacred Heart. Blessed be his most Precious Blood. Blessed be Jesus in the most Holy Sacrament of the Altar. Blessed be the Holy Spirit, the Paraclete. Blessed be the great Mother of God, Mary most holy. Blessed be her holy and Immaculate Conception. Blessed be her glorious Assumption. Blessed be the name of Mary, virgin and mother. Blessed be St. Joseph, her most chaste spouse. Blessed be God in his Angels and in his Saints. (Amen.)
Reposition of the Blessed Sacrament
Stand
All sign: Holy God We Praise Thy Name (or another appropriate hymn)
Holy God, we praise Thy name; Lord of all, we bow before Thee! All on earth Thy scepter claim, All in Heaven above adore Thee; Infinite Thy vast domain, Everlasting is Thy reign.
Hark! the loud celestial hymn Angel choirs above are raising, Cherubim and seraphim, In unceasing chorus praising; Fill the heavens with sweet accord: Holy, holy, holy, Lord.

A penny for your thoughts.
For now, cryptocurrency volatility remains an isolated concern. Asked by Representative Patrick McHenry (R-NC) to outline his thinking on cryptocurrencies, Federal Reserve chair Jerome Powell said that the digital assets are not yet big enough to present a serious threat to financial stability – a view that was separately shared by the Financial Stability Board earlier this week.
In his testimony before the House Financial Services Committee on July 18, 2018, Powell touched upon common concerns about cryptocurrencies, including money laundering and investor protection. He also discussed the oft-mentioned "Fedcoin," a rather dubious proposal for a Federal Reserve-issued cryptocurrency version of the US dollar. The idea for a US central bank digital currency (CBDC) has been around since at least 2014. However, Fedcoin has received little interest from the Fed, and Governor Lael Brainard has rebuked the suggested CBDC for its many shortfalls.
Of course, the world could have been very different if former Fed governor Kevin Warsh had become chair (indeed, he was among President Trump's final candidates for the role). In May, Warsh told The New York Times that he would have allocated resources "to think about the Fed creating Fedcoin, where we would bring legal activities into a digital coin." At the time, Warsh said the theoretical CBDC wouldn't replace cash, "but it would be a pretty effective way when the next crisis happens for us to maybe conduct monetary policy." ETHNews has previously written about the possibility of unconventional interest rate policies through CBDCs.
On Wednesday, Powell clearly stated that the Federal Reserve is not considering a digital currency. "That's not something we're looking at," he said.
Calling cryptocurrencies "very challenging," Powell said they are "great if you're trying to hide money or if you're trying to launder money. We have to be very conscious of that." The chairman added, "I think there are also significant investor risks. Relatively unsophisticated investors see the asset going up in price and they think, 'This is great. I'll buy this.'"
Powell questioned the wisdom of such blind speculative purchases. "In fact, there is no promise behind that. It's not really a currency. It doesn't really have any intrinsic value." Some in the cryptocurrency community have argued that the dollar itself lacks "intrinsic value" (truth be told, in physical terms, a dollar is nothing more than a rectangular piece of cotton fiber paper with a number printed on it).
However, the social value of a dollar is obvious and its widespread acceptance flies in the face of these spurious accusations. Cryptocurrency enthusiasts might be wise to remember the following phrase: Res tantum valet quantum vendi potest (A thing is worth only what someone else will pay for it). That especially seems to be the case for intangible and non-productive assets like bitcoin.
"Mainly, I have concerns," the chairman said bluntly. "If you think about what currencies do, they're supposed to be a means of payment and a store of value. And cryptocurrencies: they're not really used very much in payment," he assessed. "Typically, people sell their cryptocurrencies and then pay in dollars. In terms of a store of value, look at the volatility in it."
