Frequently Asked Questions
Answering the phone at Lucky 13 leads to a lot of questions from current or prospective clients. Here are some of the most popular ones that I get day-to-day.
1. How much are piercings?
Our piercings above the belt (including nose, lip, ear, and naval) are $20 each. This price include the jewelry. Genital piercings are $80 and nipple piercings are $20 per nipple. Dermals are $60 each or $100 for two. Each dermal after that is $40. We also sell jewelry starting at $10.
2. If I bring my own jewelry can you pierce me with it?
No. Our piercers will only use their new, sanitized jewelry to create a new piercing for you. If you are having trouble changing your jewelry on an existing piercing we would be happy to assist you, however.
3. Can I put vaseline or other petroleum-based products on my tattoo?
No. Please refrain from using these products on your tattoo no matter how scabby or shiny it is looking. For the first few days after getting your new ink only use warm water and a mild, unscented soap. We recommend something like Dial or our own house-made Tru-Care soaps. After a few days when you start noticing some scabbing, then begin moisturizing your tattoo to maintain the elasticity of your skin. Again, only use unscented, mild lotions to lubricate yourself. Nivea and Jergens are good choices, but we also sell our Tru-Care lotion at the shop.
4. How much are tattoos?
We do not give price consultations over the phone, but would love to meet you in-person to help price your next piece. Our shop minimum is $50 and our artists will give you an estimate from there depending on how simple or complex the design is and how large of an area it will cover. All of our artists price their own work but they are always happy to work within your budget.
5. Do tattoos hurt?
Yes! Unfortunately our tattoos are not licked on by puppies and no, they are not as easy as those temporary tattoos you got from a vending machine and covered yourself with as a kid. Please come prepared to experience a little discomfort as you get your tattoo. An anti-inflammatory pain killer like ibuprofen can help with the pain, but is not a cure-all solution. Stay hydrated and eat a good meal before you come to get tattooed to reduce your discomfort and likelihood of fainting on the tattoo table!
