I love Enlighter. Most annoying man you've ever met in your life actually does stand for truth and justice. Refuses to stop being complete pill about it in very petty ways. Motivated primarily by spite and envy but unwilling to lie or cheat to get ahead. WILL go through your entire internet history to drag out all your receipts just because you beat him in a popularity contest. Still isn't actually revealing anything untrue or even misleading.

It'd be really funny if Enlighter ended up being a critical moment character in literally every hero's story, like he's basically saved all of them with his massively OP ability in power system like this and then it all ended with him becoming a villain who got taken out by Just Some Guy punching him in the face

You guys have no idea how happy I was to see Enlighter this episode, I was really interested in his potential in the first arc. Since it seemed that despite being a 'villain' he actually cared about the truth above all else. And I'm glad to see I was proven right in this episode considering how fervently he defended Cheng.

My man just can't stand liars, even when it might jeopardize his carrier by going after higher up hero's, he still dose it to make sure the public is aware of the truth. Which makes me real curious to know what the og Nice did to piss him off so badly that my man had a complete meltdown.

And considering what the PV's are hinting at, I think my man Enlighter discovered some really dark shit that Nice did and has been desperate to get it out to the public ever since. And considering how people reacted when he crashed the Nice x Moon talk show, I'm guessing this wasn't the first time he's tried to trip Nice up into confessing whatever he did.

Which has me wondering if it's possible that in season 2 that Lin Ling will enlist his help to investigate what happened to Moon. I mean he would make the most sense to me since he doesn't seemed to really hate Lin Ling-just the lies he's told. And isn't affiliated with any hero agencies meaning it's very unlikely he could be manipulated into covering stuff up. Plus in this episode he's displayed near Ace Attorney levels of investigation skills considering how fast he was able to prove Cheng innocent, so he would be invaluable to have on Lin Ling's side.

But that's just me speculating.

The double-edged sword of truth

Honestly, I can't tell you how ecstatic I was when I saw enlightener, and it seems like he takes a very different role in this episode than what he did in the first arc with Lin Ling. I believe that Enlightners' presence simply highlights the dual nature of truth and how it can both harm and help individuals.

In episode 6, enlightener's intervention managed to greatly help yang cheng and get him out of a public scandal that he was innocent. Again, the reason why the enlightener managed to help them and why he did it is because he values truth above all else, and in certain scenarios such as this, it can be a good thing.

However, Enlightner's previous actions may be seen as unlikeable to some due to him wanting to expose lin ling and nice and what that would cost the protagonists that we grew connected to. In this case, the truth is used to hurt those whom the show wants us to root for, and here we view enlightner as the antagonist, especially when he is heavily foiled to ms J

I don't view enlightener as a villain. He is simply a character with an honest goal of wanting the truth and wanting people to see the truth and he is willing to go to extreme lengths to achieve such a goal which definitely makes him an antagonistic force if its your lie that he is trying to uncover.
