-Damien leaves the cabin for a day and bonds with Ripper over how to cut trees.

-Ripper flat out admits to Damien that he almost got Scott killed not a minute afterwards.

-Bowie vs. Dawn???? Or not?

-Scott just freestyled. He also had a beetle friend.

-Wayne’s advice to a sad Bowie: Here’s my cap, now stop thinking.

Since you didn’t give anyone specific, I’ll just give a few random hcs from my most thought about characters! (If there’s anyone or anything specific u wanna know about, lmk !1!1)

Wayne: a black man with dreads who’s birth hair color is a dark brown! He has a scar on his chest, nobody knows how he got it, he also tends to bruise easily

Ripper: total bear, a bit of a mullet, tooth gap, he’s actually a very good cook and it’s a surprise to everyone. He also really enjoys looking at art! But doing it himself on the other hand, not the same

Duncan: longer, messier mohawk, Lindsay dyes it for him. Heterochromia. Also trans but refused to get top surgery because he’s ‘ not weak ‘ and decided to work out his chest to the point they look like natural man-boobs (hence his skinny legs, boobs were more important /j)

Justin: also trans, his parents really wanted a boy and forced him to dress up as one but he actually really liked it and it felt like how he should’ve been! Messier hair, natural tan skin, very blue eyes. Brick and him communicate and brick dresses him up!

Lindsay: previously said, dyes Duncan’s hair, and her own. Once dyed his hair pink as punishment. Loves matching with Justin, they love rocking outfits together. Surprisingly really likes mystery movies, despite always getting the catch / plot twist wrong, she loves them

he usually gets bullied in school but it doesn’t phase him

MILLIE:

she’s def had feelings for priya

she has done a lot of research abt sexuality so she knows a lot abt it

JULIA:

she doesn’t tell a lot of people she’s bi (especially on the internet)

she has never dated a girl but wants too

bowie almost made her homophobic/hj

EMMA:

she has definitely dated a few girls

is very comfortable with talking abt her sexuality

once she came out to chase he just stared at her weird and didn’t talk to her for a few days

CHASE:

he’s bi but doesn’t want to tell anyone, especially the friends that he lives with (he also thinks his fans won’t like it)

he definitely says “no homo” 24/7

RIPPER:

says he’s homophobic bc that’s how he was raised

he’s gay but doesn’t want to accept it

he’s a lot happier now that he knows who he is

he doesn’t like talking abt being gay because he’s scared abt what other people will think

okay this is gonna be my general reaction post for episodes 2-4 of the reboot, so spoilers are UNDER. THE. CUT.

okay so one: I have never been more conflicted about a ship in my fucking life

this is ripaxel specific, because of course it is, what else would we be talking about here

on the one hand, no, not in a million years, what are the writers thinking, what insanity is this, I'm so confused and not in a good way at all

but on the OTHER hand...he did opt for using something she liked in a unique way to get her attention, and was like, mega cringefail about it but it still worked??? SHE liked it??? that's the important part.

so???? i'd have to see further how they progress with this before I decide, because oh god was the secondhand embarrassment horrifying during these past few episodes

now, two: caleb and priya

cute pairing! great potential. but GIRL IF I AM NOT FEARING FOR THAT GIRL'S EMOTIONS RIGHT NOW!!!! I CANT TELL IF HE'S LIKE GENUINELY LEADING HER ON FOR AN ALLIANCE OR JUST FUCKING STUPID AND DOESNT REALIZE SHE'S LIKE, INTO HIM INTO HIM!!! if he hurts her I'm suing, I'm going insane, he will be dead by dawn

three: rajbow + Wayne and the in-game cheating

again, never been so conflicted in my life, me and Bowie are twinning

on the one hand, I am SO glad he's like actually conflicted and doesn't like lying to Raj. Again, surpassing my expectations on behalf of the writers because I would've 100% expected them to make him lean into cheating without repercussions

on the other...Raj and Wayne being upset about cheating actually makes ME kinda upset despite how much I adore MK and Julia's antics!!! like!!!! the boys just want a fair fun game!!!!! how can you say no to those faces???? they're like puppies I stg

i AM relieved this is like, a cheating in the GAME plot and not a cheating in the RELATIONSHIP plot because that is ALSO a TD Taboo and I was afraid, they're still adorable and have an actual narrative, god bless

Millie and Damien's entire feud and make-up was surprisingly well done!! and despite the fact she got eliminated that episode it was still a happy ending that fit really well with both of them!! I'm glad Damien's actually getting some play this season so far :D!!

Zee with Olivia Von Trashpanda is by far the best thing I've ever seen in my life, I love them sm

They are! And that doesn't change when I ship them with Julia. I don't see Julia as transmasc either. I do think Bowie is non-binary. Raj has no romantic or sexual attraction towards Julia whatsoever, but they still consider themselves in a relationship. They're all queer in their own ways. Wayne is there dating all three of them. The joy of polycules is that not everything is black and white in terms of their love for each other. You can love someone and deeply care for them as a partner without it being romantic/sexual. I don't think it needs a label, either.

And thank you! The TD style is fun to draw and adapt.

ALSO since i'm already talking, here are my final thoughts on td: night country if anyone still cares lmao. @highcampandmisdemeanors my apologies, this is basically a copy paste of what i wrote to you bc i'm lazy :D spoilers ahead:

- overall I liked s4 quite a lot, but I think s1 references hurt it as they made no sense in that place, and had only created plotholes (what were annie and the tsalal guy doing in that rv van if the TD universe taught us those dolls/etc. are associated with child abuse!!! why the writings/symbols on the walls!!!), what did fiona shaw's character know about the spiral and why didn't navarro question her immediately, etc. there was a disconnect between what we've been taught that imagery meant, and what was actually going down in that show. and the time is a flat circle quote just felt cheap. :/

- i always love magical realism/complex ontology of a world that goes beyond observable phenomena (y'all know how i love twin peaks), so i didn't mind that, and nic p dabbled in it himself (even though he always had a safe umbrella of a 'realism' to provide a possible explanation for that - rust's past in s1, characters approaching death in s2, wayne's sickness in s3), so whoever says those themes didn't fit the TD universe is wrong

- having said that, the execution of that wasn't great - the sound design was too overwhelming most of the time, hitting you over the head with the whispery noises and chants in a native language, and the way the apparitions spoke was sooo cringe 😭 it also kind of felt like the creators weren't sure till the very end if they actually wanted to Commit to them or not, although i think it ultimately works in show's favour - maybe navarro did simply inherit whatever her mother and sister had, and it's just a mental health issue (which is how nic p would have left things off as well lmao)

- ultimately what i loved the most about this season were the things that pretty much had nothing to do with the TD universe, namely the relationships!!!! whatever navarro and danvers had going on was super compelling, so was danvers' relationship with prior and her daughter, or navarro's with her sister and fiona shaw's character, and obviously prior's with his father, and so on

- basically, maybe this show actually shouldn't have been a TD show at all, but i did enjoy it overall, and i liked the ultimate explanation behind the mystery, i thought that fit the TD 'verse quite well!, especially the s3 finale. the acting was GREAT on all fronts, so was the arctic setting. the only nod to s1 i would've left was rust's dad thing, i thought that was cool, and i disagree that it retcons anything in s1, having freshly rewatched it (sure the agents say at some point that no one had seen rust's dad in 30 years lmao but who is 'no one'. cops? authorities? girl this is alaska <3 and rust might have used a trip excuse just as an alibi, sure, but so what?)

- music supervising/soundtrack choices were mostly tragic, i'm sorry to say. ): t bone burnett no one can get on your level

- bad cgi animals in shows must End

watching disventure made me realize i remembered jack about the first 2023 season & havent seent he second so took a little detour for that. renewed love for the hockey bros, just kinda wish raj being upset for bowie cheating actually, went somehwere? they resolved so fast and raj is a really nice guy but. apart from like julia/mk instigating its rlly chill like. courtney said it in all stars "this is total DRAMA not toal friendship" LMAO. anyways love seeing more in depth of the hockey bros dynamic. raj is the comparatively smarter of the 2 while wayne seems to mostly take the lead on stuff, its nice :) and YESSSSSSSS more nichelle i am SOO glad, wish she stuck around longer but she was so enjoyable for what she was there for

on ep 10 rn! and i will be getting back to disventure soon ive just been also jumping around the other shows lol. did see the finale released and LMAO THE THUMBNAIL, get it jakey. havign a lot of fun with TD i havent had in awhile! :D - liveblog anon
