Drabble Race Round 3

Prompt: I Want You Back

“I just don't think it's a good idea,” Darcy said, hugging herself tightly, trying not to let him in.

“I don't see why not,” Ian said,his frustration clear. “I told you it was a mistake and it’s over, so I don’t see why we can’t get back together.”

“Just because you apologize doesn’t mean everything’s all better,” she said tightly, proud that she was keeping it together.

“Then what do i do to get you back?”

“You go back in time and never cheat in the first place,” she said before turning and walking away. She wouldn’t let him win this argument.

“It was a mistake, breaking up with you,” Peter said.

“The mistake was ever dating in the first place,” Darcy replied, venom in her voice. “Gamora told me exactly what kind of person you are, and I didn’t listen because I thought you deserved a chance to be a better you. Guess not only didn’t you deserve that chance, you also never were interested in not being a shitty person.”

“I don't see what the big deal is!” he cried.

“You wouldn't. You never understand anything or anyone outside of what they can do for you. I should have known you wouldn’t have cared about anything I cared about.”

“I want you back!” Darcy cried, sinking to her knees on the floor. “I’m so sorry that I was careless and dumb! I know I don’t deserve you, but you're all I ever wanted! Please, please can we go back in time and make this right?”

Natasha looked over at Jane. “Is she always this dramatic?”

Jane looked at Darcy, now crying over the ice cream cone that was melting onto the ground. “About gourmet ice cream that costs $10 a scoop? Always.”

“What about with men?” Natasha asked, tipping her head to the side.

“Men are nothing compared to ice cream.”

“Can we talk?’ Darcy asked Fitz quietly. They hadn’t seen each other in over a year. A year that had been long and hard for her, and she thought maybe for him too.

“Sure,” he said, biting at his thumb nail a bit before leading her over to a couch.

She took a deep breath and then started. “I know that we decided breaking up was the right thing to do, and I think it was, but I can't get you out of my mind.I...I miss you so much.”

“I've missed you too,” he whispered. 

“Now that, well, everything is over, do you think we can…?”

“Try again?” he supplied. “I think I'd Like that.”

Darcy smiled. “Me too.”

Darcy smiled as they finished the sequence, chests heaving as everyone applauded. Someone whistled. She looked to Tony, but he shook his head and shot his eyes over to Bruce. Darcy flushed.

As they stepped out of their final pose, Darcy strode up to Clint. “Beat that boys! There’s no way your lipsync can top what we just did.”

“It’s not fair,” Clint pouted. “We don't have sexy bodies or great moves like you do!”

“Speak for yourself,” Tony said, walking to the stage and peeling off his shirt.

Darcy looked over to Bruce. “Get up there, Doc. I can’t wait to see you shake it for me.”

Bruce flushed, and Darcy thought maybe she had a chance after all.
