Secondo la tradizione l'isola di File era ritenuta una dei luoghi di sepoltura di Osiride, era perciò considerata un luogo sacro; infatti era ritenuto sacrilego avvicinarsi per chiunque non fosse un sacerdote. Il tempio più importante è il tempio di Iside che, costruito in epoca tolemaica, domina l'intera isola e rappresentava il principale centro del culto isiaco. A questa struttura si affiancarono altri due templi dedicati alle divinità Horus e Hathor, tanto che File, nel II sec. a.C., divenne uno dei più importanti luoghi di pellegrinaggio dell' Antico Egitto. I templi furono chiusi nel VI secolo d.C. per volere dell' imperatore bizantino Giustiniano I. 🔸 🔹 🔸 🔹 🔸 🔹 🔸 🔹 🔸 🔹 🔸 🔹 🔸 🔹 🔸 🔹 🇬🇧Philae Temples, Egypt. According to tradition, the island was considered one of the burial places of Osiris, was therefore considered a sacred place; In fact it was considered sacrilegious to get close to anyone who was not a priest. The most important temple is the temple of Isis, built in the Ptolemaic period, dominating the whole island and was the main center of the cult of Isis. In this structure they were joined by two other temples dedicated to the gods Horus and Hathor, so that File, in the second century BC, became one of the most important pilgrimage sites of Ancient Egypt. It’s been over a year since our trip to Egypt. Our tour guide hosum was an Egyptologist and an archeologist amongst other things and he was brilliant. We did a tour through @intrepidtravel and our guides knowledge was just out of this world, he made it feel real. On our last day hosum gifted us a bag of coffee, so I finally opened it today. He said his wife loves this coffee and now I understand why.
