the sound of the kitchen door swinging open, usopp was scrambling to his feet to get a good glance at sanji with tears in his eyes.

"sanji! i don't know what all i did, but i'm sorry! please don't be mad at me! i'll do whatever i have to to make this right again, i promise!"

tending to his garden, usopp turned his head when he heard sanji speak to him. for a moment there was a bit of panic in his heart when the other spoke up of bad news. standing up quickly as the other trailed off.

"sanji what's---" and there it was, the jokes. he should have known that the bad news was nothing, but usopp was just that kind of person to worry. as he felt sanji lean against him, the sniper's arms went around him to hold him up.

a breath and a smile.

"oh, is that all?" he asked with a sudden kiss to the top of sanji's head. "let's fix you up then, huh?"

❝ I don't care if I get sick, ❞ Nami answers, manoeuvring the stool she had taken up so she is able to sit closer to the bed available in the medical bay. She carefully pushes back Sanji's hair and replaces the small, folded towel that had been there with a fresh one and drops the old one onto the side table. She will have to remember to remove to wash later.

She doesn't really need an excuse, but if it reassures him in any way, then she will offer it to him.

Her fingers drop from his head to begin caressing the side of his face. His cheeks feel warmer than normal, flushed in a way that she only sees when she sees him looking at her. But this is different.

a hand rose to rest against sanji's chin, bringing his head up to look at him, oh there was softness in sol's eyes as he looked at the other. what his knight had been through, but the sun wasn't about to let him suffer alone, not anymore.

"it's you and i, do or die," his voice was soft as he leaned in to press his lips against the other's own. "just call me and i'll be there for you, no matter what."

the kiss was all he needed to know that sanji wasn't angry with him, all the anxiety was sliding out of his heart only being replaced with tears as he held his husband close.

he was SOAKING up all this attention!! arms wrapping their way around sanji's neck, pulling him in closer with every kiss that he was given. of course he wouldn't let sanji leave without giving him a few kisses in return.

as his hair was up in a pony, he turned to see that sanji was looking at him. oh there was a bright smile on his face.

"sanji!" he rushed over to see what the chef was up to, sure his hair might still be wet from the bath he took, but he didn't care right now, all that was on his mind was his husband.

there's a sort of desperation in the way that sanji wraps himself around sol. finger tips dancing at the back of his neck while palms hold carefully to cheeks. it's dangerous territory for the knight, to look so confidently at his deity. but there is no fear, reverence held from a base of love, respect and, understanding. his sleeves tug up his arms as he further pulls the god into his chest, one arm fully wrapped around his shoulders, his other hand holds sol's head to his chest. just as sol has been there for sanji, sanji is will be there for sol. a dedication that runs deep, started from the very moment sanji found him in his kitchen. mutual salvation from the cold.

how long has it been since he's been held like this, been actually seen by someone the way that sanji sees him? hundreds of years went by without a single glance and here he was looking into the eyes of the knight, he could see the love in the other's gaze as he felt his hands caress and move against his skin.

this was heaven, earth had heaven on it and it was personified in the man holding him close.

his own arms looped around sanji's waist, wanting to be even closer to the man so devoted to him. his head began to rub against sanji's chest, oh how he never wanted this moment to end.

winter be damned, he had all the warmth he could need right here in sanji's arms.
