“As president of the Scott Moir fan club, I could go on about his innate talent, musicality, passion, drive, commitment, work ethic. Truly, the list is so long cause he is the best in every way.”
“From her ability to move and create brilliant choreography to her athleticism and near perfect technique, she’s the greatest skater I’ve ever seen. Her brilliance is evident in everything she does and she is ruthlessly competitive. Those are some of my favourite traits but they don’t come close to the fire that lit within me when we skated together. Our eyes would meet on the ice and it would take us to another world.”
— Tessa and Scott on each other, Canadian Sports Hall of Fame 2023
gregkoltz Next week, the 2024 ISU World Figure Skating Championships will be held in Montreal. Canada last hosted the event in London, Ontario, in 2013. I have very fond memories of photographing Virtue & Moir on home ice back then, and I can’t wait to capture more memorable moments at the Bell Centre in a few days! Today got me in my Virtue Moir feels real bad. Like, just so grateful 🥲 How lucky were we? As a sports fandom, we were the luckiest. Tessa and Scott got to win everything there is to win. Did everything there was to do. Like when I say legends, I mean LEGENDS! And we got to witness it all. I will never forget the euphoric feeling when they won the gold in 2018. The pink champagne I popped open at 3 in the morning. The absolute joy that lasted for months. Truly, the best there ever was 🙏🏻
“For me, Tessa and Scott’s Vancouver Olympic free dance. That was the moment I fell in love with ice dance. I was like woah, I wanna do that someday but back then, I didn’t think that I would be an ice dancer. That was a program that made me speechless.”
— Juulia Turkkila on her favourite program across all disciplines
Why did I who knew literally nothing about ice dance watch Tessa Virtue's and Scott Moir's free dance at the 2018 Olympics because YouTube recommended it on a very mundane day and fall in love with them so bad only to get my heart broken a week later because you know why? 😭
