The second page starts with a new day. In the first panel, Vash is seen alone, weighing apples in his hands at a mart, with crowds passing behind him. In the second panel, he turns to his right and starts to say, “Hey, Wolfwood...” In the third panel, he’s startled from seeing a stranger, whom he’d accidentally called out to when he was expecting to see Wolfwood. He says, “Oh, you’re not him. Sorry!” In the fourth panel, the stranger walks off and Vash muses, “Right, he said he had something to do today...”

The third page begins with a close up of Vash's miffed expression, the continuation of Vash's thoughts, "Now that he's not here, this is just like how I used to be, but... It feels lonely somehow. Oh well, I'll see him again tonight, like always." In the second panel, it shows Vash walking through the marketplace crowd, alone. In the third panel, the door panel is a close up of the door opening with a peek of Vash's head. He says, "Wolfwood!" In the fourth panel, Vash is holding a bag of food with a bright smile and says, "Are you hungry? I got you something to eat today!"

The fourth page begins with a shot of the room, two beds being highlighted, one of them being made properly with the blanket draped over the bed and the other with the blanket folded and pillow sitting on top of it. There's no sign of Wolfwood. The second panel shows Vash with a disappointed look as he thinks, "He's still not here?" The third panel shows Vash putting the bag of food on the table. Stapled to the paper bag is the receipt with a written note "For Wolfwood." Vash's thoughts continue "He does like to stay out so, I guess there's no reason to worry..." The fourth panel shows Vash sitting his bed somberly with his thoughts continued, "It's not any of my business anyway..."

The fifth page starts with a close up his blank expression as he looks downwards, thinking, "Even if he left completely... That'd be understandable and better for him. I'll just travel alone again... like before... Huh?" The next panel shows Vash's composure break, tears welling up in his eyes suddenly, as he didn't expect to cry. He starts to sob, putting his hands to his face to quiet himself and wipe at his tears, as he says, "Ugh... Dammit... I miss h..." The last panel shows Vash leaning over into his hands, still crying, and in the back, the door swings wide open with a bam as Wolfwood walks through with the punisher swung behind him. He shouts, "SPIKEY! You in here?!"

The sixth page starts with Wolfwood confused, looking at Vash and Vash looks back, just as confused, with tears in his eyes and snot out of his nose. Wolfwood starts saying, "Ah? You..." No longer in panels, at the bottom of the page, Wolfwood takes the Punisher off of himself and starts to walk towards Vash, continuing with slight concern, "What's wrong with you? Did something happen?" Vash, hurriedly begins to wipe at his tears, denying immediately, "No! No, I'm fine! Nothing happened!"

The seventh page, Vash points towards the table, with a hand still wiping at his tears and he smiles as he says, "I uh got you food. On the table." Wolfwood looks towards to the table and responds, "Oh. I was getting hungry, thanks." He turns his head back to Vash immediately after with an uncertain expression, knowing the other wasn't responding to his concern, and says, "But, I know you're an idiot with this stuff, so I'm reminding you again. Don't brush it off if it's an issue, alright?"

The eight page, Vash's tears have dried and he looks to Wolfwood with a soft smile and responds, "Yeah. It's okay though..." A panel at the center shows a side view of Vash approaching Wolfwood. At the bottom of the page, with no panel, is a close up shot of Vash's hand, holding onto the edge of Wolfwood's jacket sleeve, as he says, "Because you're here now. Wolfwood."

The final page is a back shot of both of them standing next to each other, Wolfwood's head tilted slightly to the left, not fully believing Vash as he says, "That doesn't answer anything, Spikey." Vash responds, "There's no need to talk about it! You should enjoy your food. Let's have a drink too?" Wolfwood responds, "Tsk, tsk. Fine, yeah. I could use one." END ID]

evvery day of my goddamn life . i think about them.every second of eveyr minute. LIKE ALL THE TIMEEE !! THEY ARE SOOO SPECIAL TO MEE

anyone whos been following me for a while knows i LOVEEEE imperfect , tense relationships . be them familial, romantic , platonic , etc . i love when two people have to work around each other and come to a common understanding . i like when their experiences are so wholly different that it bleeds into who they are and how they navigate the world . i like when the communication is faulty at best , messy . unpracticed . post-trimax and even post wolfwood death livio + vash consumes me @ my core . its been a while since ive read the manga so im probably very incorrect at reading their dynamics and have instead substituted it for my own fanon, but i like viewing their relationship to one another as something (initially) strained and (initially) distanced. you have these two people , effectively strangers to one another, bound by a common person who is no longer there. who ultimately understand the direction theyre headed in and whats required of them, but feeling so out of place by either their own internal struggles or by the pressure of the world around them . livio deals with the turmoil of what his and razlo’s involvement in nicholas’ death means . vash is left to bury his friend alone and spend the coming days alongside the man who’d killed him. and yet, vash, due to the nature of his cause and love for humanity, forgives him. cooks for him. and livio and razlo learn to let themselves be forgiven. to grow from past traumas and feel deserving of good things. its not an easy path for either of them, but they do it. for themselves, for each other, for meryl, millie, for chronica and her sisters, for humans ^__^! for nicholas!!! and its soo .. GOOD.. ITS SOO HEARTY TO MEE .. the way that vash and livio so openly struggle in the chapters following ch.65, but ultimately learn to come to terms with the idea of loss, of responsibility, love, community, etc. I KNOW U R TALKING ABT POST TRIMAX HELP MEE but i like how trigun so succinctly sets up this foundation for them to beee .. close in the way i’d like to imagine. i just lovee .. the bond they wld share in having both loved / cared for nicholas . and how that gave them resolvee !! how that gave them cause for action . motivation or determination if u will. they r so bound by loss and so inextricably changed by it that when i think of them post-trimax, i think of them like two wilted weeds that have grown thru the sidewalk crack , together . they are damaged , incomplete . unsure of so many tjings , but they r ……. MY GODDDDDDD !!!sry its like . man . MANN… kiryu gif of him punching the table . MAKE ME CRAZYYYYY . in a post trimax world , they are so emotionally linked . TO MEE .. IN MY LITTLE WORLD .. they mean more to each other than words can describe . and pains me in a sense to know that .. there will be a time where livio, razlo, and vash know each other more than they ever had the chance of knowing nicholas. and i think that so bittersweet . and special. I LOVEE IT . they give me very like .. silent affirmation , comfort through physical presence kind of warmth . like they dont have to say anything to know what they mean to each other and thats ok ^__^!

my favorite & i mean FAVORITEEEE PAGE!!! is the one in which they talk atop the building before their final battle and share their sorrows indirectly. its crazy how different trigun 98 feels after reading trimax. like so much is Missing. they make up for it when they can and all but the fact that wolfwoods backstory is modified and barely mentioned + the lack of all those fun little pieces with milly and vash + how absent plant stuff is throughout it all. maybe i'm biased because vash and knives and their sisters are some of the most interesting parts to me.

knives is barely present with legato playing a bigger role so his role in the story feels so different. dare i say lacking. legato doesnt even get his backstory LMAO. if wolfwood working for knives is at all present in the anime it was so minimal i forgot it. the lack of the earth federation and chronica is fine because of the story changes i even accept livio and elendira not being there i really just care about the things with characters that ARE there but feel like theyre lacking such important parts.

a lot of the time despite not really changing personalities it feels as though milly and meryl are there just to be women who will care for vash and be waiting for him when he comes home etc. none of the fun fun trauma meryl gets from vash that isnt his fault but is still based in him. no zazie fun times (NOT counting the one ep with 'zazie' thats just a different guy) wws death scene was still solid but his death itself, why he had to die, feels so. whatever. etc

Wanted to dump some tristamp thoughts I hope thats alright. I'm gonna say as someone who had been whinging about a lack of Milly, I'm so grateful Stampede gave me something I never knew I always wanted: Meryl properly bonding with Wolfwood. AND BOY DID THEY JUMP ON THAT, MERYL AND WOLFWOOD WERE BICKERING THE MOMENT THEY MET. And I love they get close enough that Meryl's opinion of Wolfwood gets under his skin and is what gets him to come back. I'm so excited to see the team dynamics with Milly.

!!!! :D Silly team dynamics! The likes of which we've never seen explored yet! Let them all be dumb bickering dorks who tease and bounce off each other, to solidify those closer bonds of trust! I'm guessing now, that Milly's genuine positivity is going to be exactly the missing element their team needs to recover from all the s1 trauma finally come together and pull forward as a working unit. Eventually Livio comes along into the picture, too (and imo, at least from Trimax, he and Milly were the necessary healing himbos of the party~) so with all that fun dynamic potential in mind, there's so much to look forward to that future Stampede seasons can jump on. :'3

i cannot say how much i disagree with wolfwood's initial ideals being overlayed with meryl's apparent newfound determination in response to her senior dying. ww's "you need to kill to survive" is his own lie to himself to cope with being a child soldier, called out by vash in the beginning of trimax and serves as character development he moves on from. having meryl take that as a lesson is incredibly strange. i strongly disagree with that take. her just going to a shooting range and maybe learning the basics would arguably be more significant for her lmao

i need to watch the last few tristamp eps but i also kinda dont want to theyve lost me honestly. i hate being like "old thing good new thing bad" but i am not really feeling most of the changes. read more because holy shit i was not expecting this to get so long

maybe its having read trimax thats skewing my perception more than a bit but i don't think a lot of the story changes are that interesting or even good sometimes. Like roberto is really boring imo and i feel like something is shifted abt the tone of the show and the audience's perception of vash by revealing his backstory right out the gate instead of getting the sort of outsider pov of meryl and milly like the start of 98 and trimax did.

the tone is much more heavy and obviously trimax was like that too in the latter half but i think having the entire show be kinda moody feels less impactful than the contrast between the many silly and completely serious moments the og story had. Having lighthearted stuff made more depressing scenes stand out and i feel that duality is also kinda important since the capacity for both good and evil in humans is such a central theme. Idk where i'm going with this theres more i could talk about but it just sucks because i really wanted to love this show despite knowing it was gonna be a reboot and was pretty optimistic going into it but atp i'm just kind of :/ and i doubt that i'm going to do a 180 later and end up loving it.

It also kind of blows that i think stampede is probably a fun watch if youve never seen or read trigun before but if you go back to older iterations after watching it youve already gotten later stuff spoiled. Like i don't think its all bad I enjoyed seeing aspects of the story that weren't in 98 get animated and i do enjoy the animation itself, I'm just not all that invested in it as adaptation anymore

also i will never forgive them for livio and especially elendira's new designs this was my one chance to see them animated WHYYYYYY

Man what a good volume, how Elendira fights is pretty interesting. Even though Livio definitely isnt as strong fighting wise as Razlo, its still crazy to see the difference in strength. Shes a badass person. Although the whole thing with the actual nuke worries me a bit lol

I love how Livio has really become his own person and he is such a sweet guy. Such a shame Wolfwood couldnt see Livio like this

Im wondering since there is 3 volumes left, I bet the next one is gonna wrap things up with Legato and Elendira and maybe the start of the fight between Knives and Vash? Something bad is gonna happen for sure between Knives and the spaceships. But who knows, they seem to have seen what Knives is doing before so maybe they have a way to combat it.

Very interesting way to start wrapping up the story, I guess we will see how the next volumes goes

Thoughts while reading Trimax Vol 12

Man we are getting quite close to the end now, Im excited but also dreading what other emotional trauma this series while inflict on us lol

Oh wow its really showing everything in the past lol, I love how its being shown though. It seems like it chronological which is really cool. I can remember every single panel, this is really sweet

Wolfwood and Rem being the last two is heartbreaking man

just last week i wondered abt the guns in trigun stampede. last week eg mine seemed like a complete idiot, so much he seemed completely unrelated to knives at all, a good chunk of the guns did make an appearance alongside knives, and wolfwood and zazie show up in the last ep, but im like... why, lol. originally the woman, the other big guy, and eg mine i think get trashed quickly before maximum even started, i get that, but i think in the manga/90s anime, it was kind of a peek for wolfwood at vash? like a "oh, so this is that guy's brother..." and half pretending he doesnt know who vash is

in stampede it seems like wolfwood wandering aimlessly in the desert somehow was a part of a plan for him to make contact w vash (and leading him to zazie to over complicatedly orchestrate a performance of him being trustworthy... despite vash having no reason to reject strangers usually??), and maybe u could say the manga/90's version is the same, but its kinda hard to believe..? like wolfwood just preemptively decided to play dead along the bus's route, waiting for vash to see, and call out to stop and rescue him. i think in the manga at least, he makes his own decision to try and challenge knives (his boss's boss), which knives approves of and lets him go in chapel(if thats his real name?)'s stead, w chapel staying w livio/the other eye of michael ppl. legato doesnt know wolfwood, and wolfwood doesnt know legato, but wolfwood had seen knives at that point, and i think can compare twins, lol. i think he was super performative and goofy w vash, milly, and meryl before officially meeting legato bc he could afford it, he didnt see the two alien, non-human whatevers duke it out yet, putting a hole in one of their moons. but stampede wolfwood is apparently already sent on the mission to drag him to knives? and a noticeable thing for me was wolfwood kind of worming his way into this group, while wolfwood in the manga splits off right away to meet w the bad guys. i think the old anime had it kinda dubious (if i remember right??), but he still was on and off in his closeness to the "group"

i think another thing i noticed was wolfwood's attitude, in stampede he's very on the nose like "I could have shot you >:)" while i think in the manga he's repeatedly bringing up the fact vash isnt human, which i think was a bitter indicator of his feelings abt his current mission of bringing this supernatural being's bro (who is just like him power-wise) to him. wolfwood does do the "I could shoot you!" princess mononoke style, but its more a personal issue w him grappling over the dilemma of removing threats before theyre active than just... being threatening (though, as i said before it could work as self-deprecation, but i dont think he'd be sharing that right away). if you wanted to interact w people (whether being genuine or not) you wouldnt implicate yourself first, even if you do some big show after, theres no reason they'd suspect him in the first place (besides his big ass gun, but originally he said it was a literal cross). i think it just makes me wonder about the timeline? knives at the end is shown discussing how they have to corrupt vash, and then i could see a "ok, go give him hell" plan, but why were wolfwood and zazie there before that... esp in a teamwork kind of way, where in the manga it was more believable bc those early guns that got fucked were just on the other side of town i think lol, and even legato a good amount into trimax is like "chapel betrayed!" and knives is like "...is going to betray vash. so? i already know that. he's doing a great job. get the fuck out."
