Back when I first became fixated on petes films I was really keen on the idea that Fenninger and Cairo were the same person
Idk why, probably cause they were among the first few films of his I saw?
#i guess they have a similar air of diabolical suaveness and intelligence to me#the biggest problem with this theory to me is that fenninger seems much more dignified and in control of his emotions than cairo#but one could argue that how dignified or competent they seem has to do with how competent their advisories are#theres a lot of negative things I could say about dic spade#but if i was going to commit crimes id feel a lot less safe with him trying to thwart me than fucking ish kebabble#the maltese falcon#joel cairo#youll find out#professor karl fenninger#also fenninger gets blowed up at the end of his film#but i choose to assume a peter lorre character death was fake unless its too blatant to deny#so far the only unalived pete character i dont feel confident HCing really survived without adding in supernatural elements is marius#peter lorre
