"So Community did this episode which was an homage to mafia movies called Contemporary American Poultry where the study group take over the school's kitchen to get chicken, and Abed's the one that actually makes the chicken and ends up being the one in charge. So now he has the whole study group and everyone at Greendale talking to him! And Abed finally felt like he could connect with the people around him and he didn't need to just use movies as a way to identify human behaviour. He could finally talk to everyone because they were all talking about the chicken and it was what he knew. When people got tired of the chicken, he tried to find something new for people to like. Something new that he could connect with people through. To him it was all about that human connection. He just wanted to feel like he could fit in with those around him. He just wanted to understand people. That's all Abed ever wanted. But after all that, Abed quits the job and goes back to feeling like an outsider, observing the people around him and never fully understanding how to connect with them the way everyone else seems to.
