okay i did something a little dumb (but with a good amount of caution!) and that is I took that sc*entology personality test w/ a burner email for the sole purpose of getting an idea of how it worked wrt to recruiting people and the people from the local church of sc*entology have been emailing that account to try and get me to go in and have my results explained to me (and then of course sink their claws into me) but this part stood out me (courtesy readmore):
Tumblr media
I have no idea how to corroborate that claim but as a firm hater of the self-help industry it would hardly be surprising if it were true.
Beyond that they gave me the first 3 chapters of the D*anetics book (the one written by the founder of the concerned cult) and other than that have been trying to get me to buy all their other books and shit like that. Like they haven't even been able to get me to come in (and I won't go in!!!) and they're already trying to get my money
also wrt to how it's used as a recruitment tool: basically the quiz is ~210 questions long and the very end all they give you is a graph that shows you areas you're good in and the ones that need improvement (stuff like stability, temper, etc) but NO elaboration beyond that despite saying that everyone who takes the quiz fits into 10 categories which they don't explain to you BECAUSE if you want to know more and what your personality type is you have to pop over to your local church of sc*entology (which will have already been emailed your results bc you have to provide your zip before taking the quiz) where they will sit you down and explain it to you in person, where I presume they also sell you on D*anetics and Sc*entology and tell you how signing up with them will drastically improve your life and help you achieve all your goals/your destiny.
So yeah stay alert and always be wary of any organizations that that try to sell you self-actualization/love/perfect community/etc because they don't always present themselves as religion and usually what they want in exchange is your life/well-being <3

Appeaser (Cleric Archetype)
Tumblr media
Typically, when one thinks of the faiths of evil deities, one imagines secretive cults that hide their true nature, or else, foul villains that exist openly in lands where evil reigns.
However, there are some places where these religions attempt not only to exist publically, but also attempt to change their image to something less horrible, leading to the creation of apostles that work to change the image of their deity to a more favorable public identity.
Whether they are villains seeking to acquire legitimacy for their dark faith or poor deluded fools that claim their god has much more to offer than violence and cruelty, these so-called appeasers take advantage of the flexibility of moral alignment and worship, putting their faith in an aspect of an evil deity that downplays their evil nature in favor of their other areas of interest. Asmodeus as a bringer of law, a demon lord of fiery destruction that focuses on the power of fire rather than on how it is used, and so on.
Needless to say, some faiths find it easier to accept appeasers into their faith than others, particularly those of deities whose portfolio is focused primarily on inherently evil things like slaughter, perverse atrocities, and the like.
Regardless, these clerics toe a dangerous line, finding the philosophical balance between the god’s normal dogma and their own, possibly heretical beliefs. Some may even turn on more traditionalist members of their church, or act as their agents due to their more flexible nature.
While they themselves cannot be evil, an appeaser must have an evil god. Walking this fine line between the two means they cannot use spells that are inherently good or evil, lest they sway too far to one side.
This fine line also allows them to channel positive energy, albeit with great effort for less potency than their normal negative channeling.
This lack of devotion, however, does cut them off from domain powers and magic most of the time, though by sacrificing some of their force of personality, dulling their charms and vigor, they can temporarily gain access to a single domain of their deity (aside from the evil domain for a short while, letting them use the domain’s powers, and sacrifice spells to cast the domain spells.
Essentially, this archetype allows a character to worship an evil deity while still participating in heroic campaigns, though their goodly allies might mistrust them or at least worry for them. The ability to channel both positive and negative energy after a fashion can be useful, as can gaining access to a variety of different domain abilities and spells. However, one or two uses of that ability without healing the damage can make social encounters difficult. I’d definitely recommend picking up selective channeling so that you have more control over who you heal or harm with your channeled energy.
The path of an appeaser is an interesting one. Much like how playing an ordinary cleric means considering the relationship with their deity under the assumed normal circumstances, so too do we have to consider what kind of relationship a cleric of an evil deity that wishes to be less evil has, and what sort of mental hoops they have to jump through to reach that philosophy that is just close enough to the deity’s own that they still grant their power. Some evil deities may not be aware of the apostate invoking their name, while cunning ones might view them as pawns in a larger game, potentially making their faith more acceptable in the public eye, and therefore, able to move about with less scrutiny. Other gods that are more focused on their philosophy first rather than questions of morality might view appeasers as being unnecessarily sentimental, but on the right track. Still other gods of zealous malevolence may not have appeasers in their faith at all, unable to abide by weakness or changes in doctrine. Ultimately it is the GM’s fiat that decides if an appeaser is possible in a particular faith.
Setting up a sort of temple-bank, Mother Kasia wishes to rebrand the god of greed as a deity of responsible investment, though so far, she has not met with much success, her primary clients so far being unscrupulous wealthy nobles that believe the benevolent aspect to be a performative ruse.
The strix of Red Mountain follow a deity of the air and all that flies that is completely unheard of outside their territory. However, those with knowledge of religious symbols recognize it as a curious, almost benevolent aspect of Pazuzu.
To many cultures, the Crocodile Goddess is a great devourer who punishes mortals for trespassing in the water with snapping jaws and splashing mud, but to the Anet people, she is also a goddess of fertility and protection, and is worshipped as such.

Empathy for me, not for thee: I took Rod Dreher to task the other day for his selective empathy. @davidafrench, in different context, offers up thoughts about the topic in his newsletter today.
I’ve found that empathy is almost always warped by tribalism and partisanship. I don’t think it’s any coincidence that conversations around the “sin of empathy” have arisen from the more self-described “conservative” quarters of religious America, and the alarms have been raised about empathy in connection with causes that are often perceived as “progressive.”
The instant the tables are turned, however, there is a great call for empathy. Walk a mile in our shoes. White Evangelicals, for example, are disproportionately likely to be anti-mask and anti-vaccine in the midst of a deadly pandemic. “But you have to understand us,” we cry. “There are reasons for these beliefs, and there is great goodness in the church.”
French is writing here about evangelicals because he's talking to his tribe, but this "empathy for mine, not for thine" is not a conservative thing -- it's a human foible. It's one I'm certainly guilty of. We all want to be judged by our best intentions and tend to judge others by their worst or dumbest acts. I think one of the things I wrestle with most is standing for what I believe is true and right even while recognizing that other people whom I find to be completely wrongheaded are usually doing the same. It's easier to just consign those folks to the out-of-bounds territory, to some realm where they don't deserve our understanding or compassion. Schadenfreude is fun, and it doesn't take much work. It doesn't ever fix anything, though.

3d building 500 3D Model
Building 500 3D model
High detailed 3d building. Previews were rendered with vray mat and light. The file has all lightning setup and texturing; multi layer photoshop PSD file included This architectural form developed with the Greco-Roman civilization (see the Pantheon of Rome). Very used in early Christian architecture, the dome lasted in the Middle Ages, we find it for example in Carolingian architecture and Romanesque architecture, although they are often less extensive, especially in Byzantine architecture (see Hagia Sophia) It spread to the East where other forms appeared, including the spherical Persian vaults. The first large modern dome in the West was designed by Filippo Brunelleschi in 1436 (construction of the dome of Santa Maria del Fiore in Florence). The dome became again during the Italian Renaissance synonymous with a church-centered plan. In France, the dome was used timidly during the Renaissance (see the chapel of Anet's castle by Philibert Delorme), the first dome churches date from Louis XIII (the Sorbonne of Jacques Lemercier, the Val-de-Grâce of Francis Mansard). Louis XIV will mark the royal presence by its institutions visible from afar by their dome (the College of the Four Nations Louis Le Vau, the hotel of Invalides by Jules Hardouin-Mansart). Under Louis XV, the Pantheon of Paris is built by Jacques-Germain Soufflot. Under Napoleon III, the dome will become an element of urban composition in its own right (the dome of the commercial court of Antoine-Nicolas Bailly is out of alignment with the building to be in the axis of the boulevard de Sébastopol). The Notre-Dame de la Paix Basilica in Yamoussoukro is surmounted by a steel structure dome built by Vinci, 90 m in diameter and 60 m high, with a total height of 158 m. It thus exceeds the Saint-Pierre Basilica whose dome rises to 136 meters for a diameter of 41 meters. Download Building 500 3D model on Flatpyramid now. - #3D_Model #Buildings

Emotions run high at Janet Kanini's funeral service
Emotions run high at Janet Kanini’s funeral service
[dropcap]J[/dropcap]anet Kanini-Ikua’s sudden death from lung cancer shocked the country early Saturday morning.
But many were not prepared for the emotional funeral service on Friday at Nairobi Baptist Church along Ngong’ Road.
The ushers, most of them Janet’s classmates from Precious Blood Riruta class of 1995), were easily identifiable.
They were dressed in black gowns with yellow corsages…
