so i you know how i’m doing an all-female macbeth? the gay agenda has advanced twofold in that me and my producer have basically decided that different characters dress like different lesbians

patron interaction of the day (today): a young teenager (13-14ish) was standing around at the reference desks while my boss was helping their dad.  i smiled at them and said hello and they smiled back, and i noticed them sneaking more glances at me while i was working.  i got my hair cut last weekend so rn it’s a tidy low fade, i did winged eyeliner with sparkly silver shadow today, and i was wearing a lime green top, a grey cardigan, and a t-rex skeleton necklace (plus black jeans and grey oxfords, but i was sitting behind my desk so they probably wouldn’t have seen) -- overall, pretty straight-ahead futch, much less femme than my accustomed midweek look.  the teen was wearing ripped jeans, a green plaid shirt over a baggy t-shirt, and they had a short, choppy haircut with bleached tips.  before they and their dad went to the circ desk to check out their books, the teen stopped and chatted with me a little about the origami pterodactyl i have taped to the top of my monitor.  “i love dinosaurs.  they’re my favorite animals.  well, sharks first, then dinosaurs,” they said.  “i love dinosaurs, too,” i replied.  there wasn’t much more to it than that, but is it weird that i hope they were a queer teen and that they were able to see in me someone like them, grown up and out in the world and living a normal life?  it feels a little grandiose but... i do hope that.

patron interaction of the day (yesterday): i helped a man figure out which chronicles of narnia movie came first, and then he thanked me and said: “my daughter wasn’t really a reader, but a while ago you recommended some book from your own childhood, and it was like something finally clicked.  she’s hooked, and she’s reading all the time now.” and i legit almost cried
