I know this list misses out a number of seminal works, such as Man With A Movie Camera, Nanook of The North, Night Mail and all Leni Riefenstahl's films, but the simple fact of the matter is I never really enjoyed any of those, so I can't very well bring myself to recommend them to others, well-made and influential though they are. I finished watching 'The Jinx: The Life and Deaths of Robert Durst' and ok. It was very funny that, at the very end of the last episode, the dude confessed to murdering all three ppl because he didn't know his mike was still actively transmitting / recording audio.

ps if you see this and happen to watch it, fair warning there's explicit dead bodies shown in the first episode. Also a later episode, not sure which, when they're discussing the body / cadaver.

This series was the first one that changed my life. I have never seen a show so deeply disturbing and so raw about the disturbed human psyche. This was so hard to watch and I would not suggest it for the faint of heart but damn is it good.

7. Dark Tourist - 2018

This series is absolutely hilarious and absolutely terrifying. David Fairrer is an absolute legend when narrating and investigating. I love that he has no fear when trying to report on illegal and immoral things.

8. Killer Inside: The Mind of Aaron Hernandez - 2020

I’m not really a big fan of sports, but I really enjoyed this series. I loved the look into the psyche/background and utter senselessness of death and criminality.

9. The Confession Killer - 2019

The madness of this documentary and the grossness of this man’s teeth weirdly drew me in.

10. Conversations with a Killer: The Ted Bundy Tapes - 2019

This is actually my favourite Ted Bundy documentary series, I watched it twice and liked how it incorporated his interviews with others so well.
