ERIC KRIPKE “The first thing was, we really set out to make this [season 1] feel like a horror movie. People ask me all the time, “Well, were you inspired the X-Files, or were you inspired by Buffy, or what TV show inspired you.” And I said, “I tell ya, we were inspired by features, we weren’t inspired by other television shows. Movies like Poltergeist, and American Werewolf in London, and Evil Dead. Those were the kind of movies I really gravitated towards, and those are movies that are scary as hell, but they’re funny too, and that this sort of sense of playfulness to them. And that’s what always sort of attracted me, and that’s what we strove hard to bring to this series of Supernatural.
