ok… just noticed something very interesting while rewatching episode 9. when hopper is telling joyce that hes gonna be the bait and he reassures her that he’s not gonna die and they have that unscripted kiss, they play the same track that played when will destroyed castle byers.

i always interpreted will destroying castle byers as him realizing he loves mike and calling himself so stupid for ever thinking anything could happen with him. especially after hearing him say “its not my fault you dont like girls”. ….and now the track that played during that scene is being used in a very romantic context with joyce and hopper???

#the subtitles called it hopeful synth music but it definitely wasnt hopeful the first time they used it #its not even a song that sounds like that one like they do sometimes its the exact same track #really hope that wasnt just a random ‘oh this song would sound nice’ kinda decision bc its fun as hell to try and decipher why theyd do that #all the tracks theyve repeated though usually have similar if not the exact same context #they reused blink once for yes twice for no when the older kids were messing with the lights and they reused the song the played in s1 when-#they were making the deprivation bath while el was getting in the bath in this season #and then a different version of eulogy playing while max read the letter to billy #so it seems like theres an obvious reason for every track theyve repeated #but this is INTERESTING #i was like oh wow that sounds similar and then listened to it and realized its the exact same track #stranger things #byler
