The Twenty Four and their Titles
Note: This is just based off the AU I’ve been playing around with. I have titles I call them in my head and thought, hey these almost sound like tarot card names. So now I’m debating on making that a thing in one of my fics. Tarots cards using the messenger’s incarnations to divine the future. Probably will add to this once I think of more messengers.
The Inquisitive:
A Child of Nine, representing questions and seeking answers. Also known as the Patience. If this card comes up it often means that the answer you’re looking for is on it’s way. Also speaks to innocence and understanding. A reverse of this card means that the answer is unknown, or the question you’re asking isn’t the right one.
The Companions:
A pair of dogs, representing being opposites and the same. Also known as the moons. They seek out the lonely to ease their burden. If this comes up, it means that a new relationship is going to enter your life, be if friendly, romantic, familial, or otherwise. Also speaks to duality and loyalty. A reverse of this card means that there’s a toxic person in your life, or that a relationship between you and another is about to end.
The Forgotten:
All that is known it that they are a woman. Also called the Storm. She represents lost memories and lost loved ones. If this card comes up, it’s a warning of forgetting what’s important to you. Also speaks to wrath and revenge. A reverse of this card is positive, meaning that you’re not forgetting where you came from, and should keep going in the direction you are.
The Devoted:
A woman who lived by and fell in love with the sea, representing faithfulness and love with nothing expected in return. Also known as the Compassionate. If this card comes up it’s considered lucky, and that someone is thinking of you fondly or that positive influences are coming into your life due to your actions. Also speaks to bottomless emotions and faith unwavering. However a reverse of this card means the opposite, and is terrible luck. A warning that your actions have consequences, despair is coming your way, with justice for your victims.
The High Messenger:
The most well known of the messengers, representing news on the way. Also known as the Lady. When she appears, it means news is on the way that’ll result in a huge change to your life. Good or bad is never elaborated on, only a warning to be prepared and to brace for whatever is coming. This card’s reverse meaning is the same as it’s upright.
The Dreamer:
A fox spirit that is speculated to have never existed, representing doing the things you love. Also known as the Solace. If this card comes up it means that you need to take a break and return to doing what you love, even if only for a short while. A signal that you’re overworked or overly stressed and it might start to affect your health. Also speaks to dreams and hobbies. A reverse of this means you are lollygagging too much, and should come back down to earth for a time. Perhaps the gentlest of reverse meanings, it’s not a demand to cease, only to check in that you’re not missing out on something important.
