I was told by a friend that Fishman Island was one of the worst arcs in One Piece, and now I have really really high expectations for the new world cause um. This is a really strong first half and the Fisher Tiger and Otohime flashback was so good and such an amazing moment for Nami?? Y'all are sleeping on this arc.

#like ok i could do without the sanji gags it's really annoying #but otherwise i dont really have complaints so far maybe i will in the second half #just the island but especially the palace are so beautiful it's eye candy #and the fisher tiger flashback was amazing and such a good moment between nami and jimbei #desperately have wanted more focus on nami and FINALLY got it #i've read a lot of fantasy as well and this is a surprisingly one of the most nuanced and complex and mature ways i've seen racism depicted #and fantasy can oftentimes drop the ball hard on that so i appreciate oda for doing it so well in this arc #and obviously summit war was amazing but seeing them all together again is really really nice #the villains are admittedly kinda eh so far but they serve their purpose well enough #is this my favorite one piece arc? No it doesn't beat out the likes of Water 7/Marineford but #it is in the upper half for me #one piece #op liveblog
