#AboutLastNight...I went out to the stage reading #TheFertileRliver written by my brother, @vincentterrelldurham. The @roadtheatre on W. Magnolia Blvd. in North Hollywood was packed. This beautiful piece of work hit home for me because I remember my mom, grandmother and great grandmother talk about #eugenics. Yes Google it. It is a real term. And prior the film, #Claudine, this study, this practice, this method of sterilization was a real procedure that took place in our country ordered by our government, who felt that it was really help improve the lives of Black women and their families, from poor Black women from not being able to reproduce. As always, I am moved by these stories and left in wonderment of the brilliant mind of my friend who's work deserves to be seen more often. And I'm not alone in this thinking. The post show discussion, which was pretty lively, expressed how supportive the theatre community is of him and his work and how they felt there's a need to see more of it. We laughed. We cried. Some of us hung out afterwards and caught up.
