This bit from the Traces comic is very beautiful in showing Io’s prayer coming to pass and how Till’s life was always surrounded by love, either from his mother or friends, but I've talked a little before about how I wanted the series to explore the idea of this "corporate god” more (Anakt, the company humans are created, forced to exist, and work under) and focusing on the panel, “For this, Io prayed with all their heart to Anakt.” It's incredibly sad that Io is unknowingly praying to the very thing that will exploit and cause her son the most pain.

Anakt wasn’t what loved and looked out for their son; it was themselves and the people who Till loved and who loved him in turn. God in this series is found through the compassion humanity holds, not in an oppressive force whose main goal is to keep them compliant to their suffering and not take any steps in changing it. The Anakt god that the humans worship is just a co-opted idea (we don’t even know if the Segyein believe in any gods themselves!) that the aliens use that at its core is nothing but a glorified symbol or mascot for a company that will wring them dry.

In the very first video, Mizi says, "From the moment humanity left the universe, we all forgot God." But that's not the case, and as she grows up and meets Sua and is surrounded by other humans, she comes to understand that! Mizi and all the other humans in our cast find God within each other or humanity in general because that's where they find love; that's what gives them the strength to fight and keep going.

Io saw how happy Till was when he learned to sing and create, and although she was scared, they let that creativity flourish and grow because her love for him won against her fear. All the mains cast's love wins against their fears.
