This Cherchy carousel is courtesy of several fine food establishments across Los Angeles. I ate all these meals during my usual dalliances of gluttony and excess, engulfing myself in the life of a man blessed to be surrounded by food at every corner. The first two slides are a special order item from @FiveGuys called a "grilled cheese cheeseburger" and I made mine a double, because duh. The third slide is "Spinach Bucatini" from @otiumla, a mouthwatering pasta dish with bacon, egg, clam and parmesan. Popping the yolk and mixing it together made for a surprisingly scrumptious meal. Up next is the bacon, egg, hashbrown and cheese breakfast burrito from @curbgrill. Then nachos from @islandsburgers and my go-to BBQ @thememphisgrill for their brisket, mac and cheese and garlic mashed potatoes. The final slides include a monster burrito, excellent pizza from @joepeepsnoho, a delicious Nashville chicken sandwich from @humblebirdla and a super juicy brisket sandwich from @bearpitrestaurant. I've spent the last few years embracing trying new things. I'm a tacos, pizza and burgers guy in my soul and I avoided BBQ until fate brough @thememphisgrill to my neighborhood. They enticed me with their friendliness and sealed the deal with their amazing food. The aromas alone amazed and enthralled me, piquing curiosity from corners of my inner carnal carnivore that I never knew existed. I had never experienced the smell of fresh five-cheese Memphis mac, garlic mash and juicy brisket together before. As amazing as that was, the flavors were even better. It's beautiful, it smells good and it tastes amazing. Oh food, I love how you entice me with all your enchanting ways. Like the unmistakable joy that comes from juicy brisket with toasted edges. Each bite a tender caress of my taste buds, tantalizing me every second I chew. The pillowy-soft garlic mashed potatoes go perfect with the brisket juice, while the macaroni and cheese take me to a happy place of warmth and rich deliciousness. When I say the Universe wanted me to try this beef brisket, garlic mashed potatoes and five-cheese mac, you best not doubt the veracity of my words. Because, my word, we were meant to be. About two weeks ago @thememphisgrill invited me to stop by via my comments. I made note of it, but 2020 keeps happening and I hadn’t went. Until yesterday, when I needed the type of smile only delicious food and community can bring. So I told @retOne we needed to try this new spot and it was a match made in Heaven. The aroma from the slow cooked meats swept me off my feet like an old cartoon, while the cheesy mac gave me chills with its tender chewy warmth. The toasty-edged brisket was a bastion of flavors, its rich broth soaked into each bite. It all came together with the garlic mash, pillowy soft and just as comforting. Cornbread and Coca-Cola for the chaser, BBQ sauce on the side if you’re so inclined. Count me in as a new customer, can’t wait to be back! Supporting local independent businesses has been a longtime passion of mine. There’s nothing quite like cultivating a genuine bond with people in your community, and what better way to connect than over delicious food.
