Broken Birds | Dick & Damian

Dick took another sip from the drink in his hand before Damian shifted slightly in his sleep. He too shifted, careful of his bandaged shoulder. They'd all taken turns watching him for hours now; it was nearing two in the morning and the tiredness was evident in Dick's eyes. Still, he wanted to stay up for him.

After all, he'd been there when it'd happened. He hadn't been quick enough, not strong enough, not clever enough. A few of Joker's thugs had jumped them out of nowhere on patrol. They had put up a good fight but one stabbed Dick in the shoulder before hitting him on the head. In his groggy state he could only listen as they laid into Damian.

Dick smiled slightly as Damian opened his eyes, setting the glass down on the table.

"Welcome back to the land of the living, kid...you had us worried..."
