#theres SO MUCH i wish i could say but its either spoilers or hints too much at things that could lessen the experience. alas

Is there any non-spoilery way you could talk about how isat isn't just about timeloops? because like I do want to check the game out eventually for sure if only because indie fun times but I'm busy for a while before I get the time and tbh I'm just not as curious because I don't know how it's gonna break that formula (also ngl no colors makes me lose 50% interest because I like. looking at colors. lots.)
UHM OK WELL UM. hm. how DO i do this without spoiling anything. im very not good at describing things especially things i Really enjoy so how do i put this . hold on i might need to look at some reviews so i know how to words. ok
as a disclaimer i havent fully interacted with a lot of (if any??) media that has timeloops so i cant say for certain what it does differently from similar media that makes it stand out from others. at the same time ive never seen something that is so directly About Timeloops in this way even if i consider stuff ive heard about in passing but i could be wrong (madoka n utena come to mind ?). ill try to think abt the things that arent Just timeloop related plus the stuff u mentioned and hope that helps it feel more interesting and less generic?
i think one of the main things i can say is that it Really makes you feel what the protagonist is feeling. more than anything ive ever watched or played or whatever . and thats saying a LOT given how much i empathize with protags in games. and its not even just an empathy thing here. both the story progression and the gameplay work in such a way that you experience pretty much everything the same way they do, while still having their own personal stuff u can learn about of course
on that note tho. that is actually something to be careful of for a few reasons. i know ur generally pretty good with darker content so i doubt thatll be a problem for u here (its not that bad tbh but there is IS a warning when u open the game/look at the steam page and it aint lying) but. due to the nature of timeloops. it CAN get tiring and this is very much intended. and this helps a lot w the story and themes in a way that its. like. think how kh days does repetition on purpose. its a lot like that (although i had way easier of a time getting thru isat than days? i cant remember how u feel abt days' gameplay but i think it was positive ? either way getting thru isat was way more bearable than days imo). it does do a good job at balancing this with a couple mechanics that mean u dont have to repeat everything all the time (i had like. Very few actual full loops by the time i finished) and theres ALWAYS new things happening, even if ur super thorough with everything. its pretty easy to do things at whatever pace u feel like and if u wanna focus on the main story only to make it easier it wouldnt take too much away from the experience (tho i do encourage talking to the npcs at least a few times), and theres always a goal to work towards. also dialogue skipping and the banana peel are ur best friends
sort of adding onto that. it really, really helps that u are sharing the experience with the protagonist. not only does that help u relate to them (even if u dont share as many traits w them as i do akvdjsn) but theyre probably the most beloved character in the game and for good reason!! its really fun to see their interactions with the rest of the main cast and the npcs, and watch them all develop in different ways throughout the game. and my goodness all of the characters are beautifully written - at first ur kinda thinking ok its a ragtag group of sillies in an rpg whats new. but their personalities and relationships and hobbies and problems and everything about them is just so well done.. they feel so natural. human even. every conversation feels real to me. one of the main themes of the game is the concept of change, and each of them represent and approach it differently, both positively and negatively. its hard not to fall in love with them as individuals and as a group because they just have so much going on, even the ones i didnt expect to like at all!!
the worldbuilding is also a fun spin on fantasy rpg worlds. it mostly revolves around the area u play in bc well. of course it does. but its vv interesting to learn about all the different cultures within the world and how they interact with and build on the themes of the game. theres all sorts of queer stuff going on and its all handled like a love letter to people who relate, and i can feel it even with what i dont relate to at all!! the way "magic" works and the ways people use it in battle and everyday life is super cool too, makes the whole thing feel a lot more believable and realistic :3 i dont wanna talk abt any specifics bc its more fun to learn abt this stuff ingame
OH AND THE TEXT.. EFFECTS?.. idk what to call that but the way dialogue (both internal and external) is written and programmed is funky as hell (affectionate). it was weird at first bc oftentimes (mostly for humor) its like. almost the way i type actually?? which feels strange in a legit game but it Works. it works so well and adds tone and vibes and a Voice in a way u usually cant get in a game without any voice acting. deltarune is also good at that but this one does it differently enough for me to consider it unique
HAVE I MENTIONED THE ART STYLE i love the art style . its so charming and expressive especially all the talking sprites n battle portraits. simultaneously silly n adorable while fully capable of being serious. and creepy. anyway look at the sillies i love them n their designs dearly (especially Siffrin (1st on the left) and Mirabelle (2nd on the left))
Tumblr media
also on that note, the lack of colors....... i both totally understand being put off by that (i also love looking at colors n this part made me feel weird abt it when i was thinking abt getting it at first) and personally enjoy it? without saying anything spoilery (bc its really not), its just another part of the worldbuilding and themes that i now find really fun :3 should be noted that i usually have an anti blue light filter so it mightve been easier to look at w the yellowish tint going on. maybe it even looks better that way ? kinda reminded me of old films now that i think abt it.. neat!!
as a last thing i couldnt quite insert somewhere else. it is equal parts a comedy and a tragedy, and it is so, so effective at accomplishing this. the humor is fantastic and adds to the games' and characters' personality, every tragic moment is . for lack of a better word or phrase. absolutely fucking delicious. and i adore how well it can shift from one to the other gradually or in an instant, or just be both at once!!!! yippee!!!!!!!
aaand thats all i can say. i have no idea if that cleared anything up BUT i encourage u to give it a try bc i do think youd like it in the end. u probably wouldnt finish it as fast as i did but that might be a good thing jfbskndj but yeah!!!! in stars and time!!!!!! its good and i love it!!!!!!!!

[a quick fic, definitely not my best work? but i thought of this scene after thinking about what might cause taakitz to grow as close as they did in such a short amount of time? i concluded late-night cooking :^) (maybe i should make this a mini series bc theres no actual cooking in this one)
anyways read away. spoilers for lunar interlude 4 and everything prior to it i guess. also its 6am and i havent slept, take pity on me vghjbjn]
Taako stares up at the ceiling of his private quarters. He’s so, so tired- the Director has them all training heavily for something she won’t even tell them about. She seems unsettled, though; maybe even frightened, so even Taako agrees to the extra training. Still, despite his aching bones- Thanks, Magnus- he can’t sleep.
The room’s dark and mostly silent. There’s always a little background noise on the moonbase, and tonight Taako can swear he hears Merle’s loud snoring from one room over. It’s really not that loud, but with Taako’s growing agitation, it seems to get louder and more obnoxious by the minute, like Merle is personally trying to slight him with those awful snorty noises.
He lets out a long, dramatic sigh and finally gives up on sleeping. Definitely not so close to the loudest dwarf he’s ever heard. So, with a huff of annoyance, he unzips himself from the once-comforting-now-stifling warmth of the sleep sack. That’s another problem with this fucking moon base. It’s always either too hot or too cold, and right now it’s definitely too fucking hot.
A series of more loud, annoyed huffs later and Taako finds himself on a couch in the main part of the quarters he shares with the only other two Reclaimers. They won’t be Reclaimers much longer, he thinks. They’ve only got one relic left to Reclaim. Reclaim is a stupid word for them. Claimers is better. They never owned the relics so how could they RE-claim them? Well as long as they paid him, he couldn’t give a rat’s ass what they were called.
He huffs for the hundredth time that night and slips into a pout, his chin resting on his palm. He’s staring out of the huge floor window they’ve got going on- which, by the way, super trippy when you’re drunk, fuck whoever designed this room- and thinks.
He thinks about his aching body and the stupid extra training sessions. Magnus did not need to tackle him, thank you very much. Taako doesn’t take the big hits. That’s Magnus’ job. “Magnus rushes in”, and all that. Yeah, well, Taako’s good out here. Away from the physical portions of combat.
He’s not worried about whatever they’re being trained to face. He’s Taako, from TV! He’s a powerful wizard, the likes of which the world has never seen! Nothing could kill him. Well, nothing but the fiasco at Refuge. But that was a one-off. The Director probably just got spooked since it’s their last job. Still, he knows better than to go against her wishes. Plus, Magnus physically lifted him into the training dojo, so it wasn’t like he’d had much choice.
Thinking about Refuge puts Taako in an even worse mood. It’s not the same, though. Instead of just tired bitterness, there’s… a hint of something else in it. Something familiar and bad. Thinking about all the times he died is weird. He’s used to a more normal amount of death, AKA none.
Well. Unless Kravitz was right.
Kravitz.
Taako’s thinking about Kravitz now. He’d intended to charm Kravitz into dropping the whole, y’know, looped death thing, while they were on that date to the Chug ‘n’ Squeeze, but he’d actually had an okay time. His charms weren’t really needed, either. Since their last meeting in Lucas’ lab, he’d definitely seemed a lot more agreeable.
Almost shooting him in the back was kinda awkward though.
One of these days he should really get the umbra staff checked out. It keeps doing shit without consulting him first which, first of all, rude. It was probably cursed or something. It carved some letters into a wall, exploded Ango’s cookies, and it had almost ruined his date with Death. That was all incredibly inconvenient.
Still, Taako thinks about the cost of removing a curse and thinks about his empty coin purse and shrugs. As long as it doesn’t kill anyone he otherwise wants alive, he’s good.
Does Kravitz count as alive?
...Does the Grim Reaper even sleep?
Luckily for Taako, he’s got the Grim Reaper on speed dial. Kravitz gave him the ability to contact him via his Stone of Farspeech when he wanted Taako to schedule their chat about the fate of Refuge, and he’d never taken it away. Well, he’s about to get a late-night call from the one and only Taako.
Taako tucks his legs under himself and pulls out his Stone of Farspeech. A second later, he speaks into it.
“Krav, my man! You awake, dawg? Taako wants to chat!”
His voice echoes around the empty room for a moment. It’s silent for a moment. Taako purses his lips together. If Kravitz sleeps, how does he find time to reap people? Is it a 9-to-5 gig? Does he get paid vacation time? Dental? What are the benefits to being Death? Is there an employee discount at every funeral or something?
“Taako..? Wh- why on earth are you calling me at two in the morning?!” Kravitz’ voice appears at last, sounding more worried than anything, disrupting Taako’s train of thought.
“Cause I wanted to chat, homie!! Got nothing else to do,” Taako replies, relaxing a little more on the couch. How does this guy even sound handsome? Taako silently appreciates he’s dropped the accent.
“Shouldn’t you be sleeping?” His tone loses that worried quality to it. Taako raises an eyebrow to the empty room.
“Elves don’t need to sleep. Sure, I like a good snooze every now and again- who doesn’t? Which reminds me, actually. Hey, do you sleep? I didn’t wake you up, did I?” Taako teases.
“Well, no, I don’t need to sleep, but-,” Kravitz begins, interrupted by Taako.
“I didn’t call you in the middle of a reaping, did I? Oof, that would be awk-ward! Your soul being taken by the Grim Reaper, only for his good pal Taako to make a special appearance. Ooh, what if they’re a fan?” Taako can envision himself twirling something as he speaks, though what he’s not entirely sure.
“Taako, Taako, no, I’m not- I’m not busy, I, wh-, why did you wanna chat? Is there even a reason?” Kravitz sounds like he’s feigning annoyance now. Taako beams at the empty room. Still, his question stumps him momentarily. Did he have an actual reason beyond asking questions?
Taako lets out a hum in response, thinking. A beat later, Kravitz speaks again. He stops and starts every now and again.
“L-listen, Taako. I, uh. If this is… Okay, I really enjoyed our… uh, when we hung out, but if this is some form of, of booty call-”
Taako interrupts him with loud laughter. When he composes himself, he speaks again. “Oh, no, no sweetie, honey, homie, you’ll know when it’s a booty call. Besides, we’ve only had one date. Buy me dinner and we’ll see where things go.” He’s goofing, of course, but… well he’d be lying if the idea of another date didn’t appeal to him.
Taako swears he hears Kravitz sigh, either in amusement or exasperation, or a mixture of both. “Well if that’s not it, why did you contact me?”
“Well, they say you’re supposed to wait a few days after the first date to call them back, make ‘em wait-,” Taako begins.
“Taako,” Kravitz interrupts, semi-stern. Taako rolls his eyes.
“Fiiiiine! I couldn’t sleep and I wanted to ask you a bunch of shitty questions about being the Grim Reaper,” he admits eventually, pouting a little that Death could pull the real answer from him so easily.
“If you wanted to ask questions, you coulda asked them on our date, y’know.” This time, Kravitz sounds like he’s teasing. Taako’s glad he used the word ‘date’ this time, even if he’s being teased.
“Well I didn’t think of them til now, doofus,” Taako retorts. “Unless you want every date to be an interrogation.”
There’s a beat of silence.
“Oh, so you weren’t kidding about, about dinner, then,” Kravitz states, a hint of surprise in his voice. He seems to hear himself, and hurries to explain. “I-I mean, I’d be happy to! I’m just, well. Surprised, I guess. I, I wasn’t sure if you were… as… interested, I suppose.” Taako smiles a little to himself. Kravitz is adorable. “Are, uh, are there restaurants on the moon?”
Taako taps his chin. “There’s a mess hall. That’s not very intimate, though. Plus my umbra staff acted up twice there, and you know how well that went the last time, with you and me.”
“Wait, that wasn’t the first time it’s done something out of your control? Taako, I really think you should get it checked for curses-”
Taako waves a hand in the air, calling for Kravitz to calm down. He quickly remembers they’re talking through Stones of Farspeech and switches to actual audible words. The lie comes quick and easy. “Don’t worry, broseph, I’m getting it checked out next week. For sure.”
“...Okay, but please, Taako, be careful with an object like that.” Kravitz seems reluctant to drop the topic, but says no more about it. “Then, uh... how about something planetside?”
“For our second date? Sure, if you can find somewhere good enough for Taako, and his date Death,” Taako points out. He hesitates. His next words are semi-scandalised. “Do you even eat food?”
Kravitz lets out an awkward chuckle. “Well, I don’t need to, but I do eat every now and again. Just for the taste, more than anything. I, uh, I don’t get hungry.”
“Well fuck it, if taste is all you want, we should have dinner here on the moonbase. I can cook up a storm better than any shitty chef in Neverwinter. I’m Taako from TV, remember?” Taako announces loudly.
The idea of cooking dinner for the two of them is one hundred percent better than a meal in some restaurant somewhere. He can charm Kravitz with food this way… His speciality. Especially now that he knows the poisoning incident wasn’t his fault.
Kravitz laughs. When he speaks again, Taako can hear his smile. “Y’know, that… that actually sounds nice.”
“Also,” Taako speaks up again, breaking the somewhat romantic tension with a loud demand that leaves Kravitz giggling. “Just so we’re clear. This is definitely not a business date this time. This is one hundred percent pleasure and I don’t wanna hear a single goof about dragging me off to hell or wherever the fuck. Seriously. I just died, like, eleven times in a row. I’m kinda sensitive on the subject.”
“Okay, I won’t talk about work, got it.” Kravitz still sounds like he’s smiling. Goddamnit. Taako wants to see that smile again.
“Why not right now?” He asks the question before he can stop himself, and he’s not about to take it back, so he just bites his lip and waits.
“Now? At two in the morning? Don’t you share a living space with Merle and Magnus?”
Damn.
“Yeah, it’s okay. We can schedule this for when those two idiots are away.” Taako tries his best not to sounds disappointed. He fails. He’s tired and sore and… if he’s being honest? A little lonely. Which makes no sense.
“Taako,” Kravitz sighs. “If there’s something else wrong… I know we’ve only hung out a few times, and the majority of those involved attempts to kill you, but you know I’m here for you, right? ...I can’t imagine dying over and over was pleasant. If, uh, if you need someone to talk to, besides Magnus and Merle, and the, the others on the moonbase, I-I mean, you have access to my Stone of Farspeech. Obviously at, uh, at any hour.”
Taako’s struck by the sincerity of those words. He really can’t come up with something clever fast enough in response, so instead he lets out a slightly hysterical, “Natch, homie!!”
Kravitz doesn’t respond to that. They sit in silence for a handful of heartbeats. Well, a handful for Taako; his heart is hammering away.
It takes a long, long time, but Taako does eventually give in. His voice is low and defeated when he speaks.
“Okay. Yeah. I’m-,” his voice cracks a little. He pauses. “I’m a little messed up about, about dying. And, uh. Watching my friends die. And everyone in that town. It hit me harder than I thought it would.”
Kravitz doesn’t respond for a second. When he does, it’s so soft and kind and sincere.
“Do you wanna have that date now?”
Taako rubs at his dry eyes with the heel of his palm. There’s no tears. He sniffs. “We’d have to be quiet so we don’t wake mmmmMagnus n’ Merle. Fuck them for having the same first initial.”
Kravitz lets out a soft chuckle. “I’ll be right there. Don’t be spooked when I appear.”
“Why would I be spooked by the Grim Reaper appearing at my door late one night, after I’ve just got done a bunch of dying?” Taako drawls back.
“Who said anything about a door?”
Taako spins around at his suddenly very near voice and spots Kravitz. A rift is closing up behind him and his scythe melts away into thin air. He’s a couple feet behind the couch, wearing the warmest smile a cold man like him ever could. Physically cold. His demeanour, once you have a date with him, really warms up, as far as Taako is concerned.
Despite himself, Taako beams. Kravitz smiles right back.

Final thoughts on NDRV3
posted under cut because spoilers!
So I want to write a little review for.. i dont even know whos gonna read that? probably nobody that still wants to play the game afterwards, haha. Anyway I felt like writing a final report on what I liked or... disliked, at least for the record I guess.
Starting with characters:
When I first watched the trailer, there were quite a few characters that caught my eye. Especially Yonaga and Amami, also Saihara and talent wise I was really looking forward to Ultimate Magician cause?? Nice? Also the promo pictures oh my.. Akamatsu and Harukawa?? Hell yeah. Saihara and Momota? Yeah alright! Amami and.. whos that again? Ah yes Ouma.. well I don’t really care but sure? (haha)
Actually playing the game made me think twice on a lot of characters really quickly. First of all I immediately fell in love with Chabashira and the fact that she and Akamatsu got along was just suuuper exciting!! Also Shinguuji seemed interesting but his story seemed a bit difficult for me to understand in Japanese. After getting to know Hoshi for a bit I also became really attached to this character cause he was kinda relatable for me? and I dont mean because of the same alias, I just felt his kinda nihilism and will to sacrifice himself for the others cause they have more “will to live” hit home really closely. I think if it were me, surely I’d behave similarly. Halfway through the story I suddenly realized I really love Ouma, I don’t even know how that happened cause at first I was kinda meh towards him but smh it happens quite often that characters who pissed me off before suddenly become my bias, soo we are stuck with him now I guess? but ill talk about him in more detail later. Saihara turned out to be a true “meh i dont really care about this guy” character, Harukawa was annoying cause in the end her behaviour changed nothing and it was just plain boring. Hagakure.. I mean Momota was same, and it was even worse that these two kinda became a romantic pair cause that just made them even more boring. I could only acknowledge Momota after it was found out that he agreed to Oumas plan.
Also I ended up disliking most of the other characters, ESPECIALLY Yumeno cause she was equally boring and useless and dont act like you ever cared about Chabashira cause Im not buying that. Angie WOULD have been interesting if she had killed someone after all, but yeah whatever. Shinguuji had the potential but they decided to completely fuck over his character in his trial.
The game mode:
Tbh at this point, I cant really complain much? I gotta say I disliked logic dive and forgot how its called.. the sword mode something something. But then again I played this on pc and I think both wouldve been a lot easier with a controller. Now lets look at brain drive, which works similar like logic dive and... what? i have to pick up sex workers? Saihara’s car is full of sexy ladies? WHAT
seriously i dont know what they were thinking but that just weirded me the fuck out. The rest wasnt so bad. The new game mode they brought in wasnt so bad, relatively easy to win but to this day id need so much more time to figure out how to clear every block. The showdown thing?? pretty shit. I liked panic talk action in the previous games, but now it became a button mashing rhythm game that was.. pretty difficult aint gonna lie. Also the fact that you literally tear off their clothes until they are half naked in the end.. what. the. fuck.  Climax logic was alright, but the pictures got really tiny i think? sometimes it was hard to get what was going on unless you read the description. Scrum debatte was great, and the new feature to lie? ... Meh. Smh from the trailer I got the impression that i could either lie or tell the truth. Maybe I was just too stupid to do that, but i dont think i ever had a choice to do either. If someone was able to do different, please tell me cause I was a bit disappointed. Ah also, weak point panic talk(?) where you have to listen to many characters at first. if im not wrong it was introduced as something only Akamatsu can do? because of her musical ear I mean. Well guess that was a lie,
The trials:
Probably THE main thing in dangan ronpa I mean hey we all came here to enjoy a little murder mystery right? (jk im here to romance the characters in peace mode) Let’s say I wasn’t... too impressed with them.
The first trial was pretty interesting, well done too, if it WASNT for the point that the player character herself was the killer and got executed. Wait what, you just took my character away? after the FIRST trial? Yes exactly. I’m not sure what they were thinking except adding a bit more drama and man pain for Saihara but ill write more to that later. At the end of this trial, everyone cried more for the killer than for the victim just because her motive was something as noble as “I knew we wouldnt make it in time so one of us had to kill someone.”
second trial was... incredibly weird and unnecessarily cruel, and I’m not saying this because Hoshi is my bias. Okay maybe I am. But seriously first he gets drowned and then his corpse is eaten by piranhas so theres not even anything left of him anymore? The whole creating a ropeway with a pool floating thing just felt weird to me as well but sure I wrote it off as “after two games theyll eventually run out of ways”. Speaking about the motive... it was similar to the first murder in dr1, but the fact that Toujou turned out to be some president of a country (if I got that right, I was bored and didnt bother checking unknown words) and she wanted to get out to save her people just.. what? And I said this before but I dont believe that Hoshi just “let himself get killed”. Why’d he fight for his life otherwise and leave all those scratch marks on a fucking stone sink? After the trial, again, nobody cried for the victim, they were all ridden on the killers noble idea of getting out.... okay? what
the third trial!! hell yeah!! that was finally one i could really enjoy, despite my waifu getting killed (but she was beautiful until the end). I actually dont know what really got me to like this murder, but the fact that it was definitely plausible maybe helped. Also when it happened right in front of everyone was just really exciting! The trial was... good, until Shinguujis “real identity” was revealed. His motive was pretty gross, I mean the fact that hes romantically in love with his sister and kills for her, which also implied hes a serial killer just.. idk that was weird, but FINALLY they didnt cry for the killer but for the victims.
trial four was a PAIN to get to, istg this stupid game world pissed me off to the point where i didnt  wanna play anymore, also cause i heavily suspected Ouma to do something and I didnt want him gone haha. The death itself turned out to be pretty interesting (tbh i wouldve never thought theyd kill of a ero character like Iruma! ) so I’d say i liked this trial.
Dude trial five!!! hyped me up so much. I was so torn between hoping Ouma is the killer and also Ouma being the victim... if I ignore the stupid romance interval between Harukawa and Momota, I could even say this was my favorite trial. But it also heavily reminded me of Komaeda’s trial which was a bit.. weird. I got pretty pissed that in the end, Momota didnt go through with Oumas plan, therefore making his death basically useless.  But boy the trial gave me so  many Ouma feels, so that was nice...
The sixth and final trial... where do I even start? Well its where the whole plot comes to an end right? And the kotodama looked pretty interesting, just like the build up but then.. I understand that 4th wall breaking is cool, but do it too much or at the wrong time and its just a pain in the ass.
The trial almost had me throw away my ps vita in frustration also it was so boring i ended up skipping a lot of dialogue cause what are you even trying to get at? Not even the end or some more 4th wall breaking could fix this and literally until the end i was so bored that i just skipped through so i could unlock bonus mode... i almost feel like telling everyone, dont play this game now lol.
The story
If the beginning had you wondering, isnt that normal for all dr games? at least i thought so. normal game, normal killing, great. But the new main character! Akamatsu was pretty lovable. I enjoyed the way she brought in her talent into conversations (and left others stunned cause they couldnt relate). She was just really refreshing to play as, just the small romance-y sections with Saihara were boring (but at this point i thought its just being friends so okay) . Compared to Naegi who was seen by the others mostly as a “loser” or weakling who sometimes says something good, and Hinata whom everyone really liked, Akamatsu seemed to me like having some people who really trust her, and those who are somehow against her. AND THAT FELT RIGHT.
Too bad she literally gets killed as the murderer during the FIRST trial and replaced by Saihara who evidentally gives off a ~Naegi vibe~. Seriously why would you even do that.. It was stupid as heck, but the only good thing is that it saved us from possible Saihara and Akamatsu love story.
Continuing, Saihara loses some of his weakness thanks to Momota, and also it is hinted that Ouma can’t really be trusted or can he...? Cause what he did that was thought to be evil and possibly harmful for the others actually turned out to be a way to at least prevent one killing. After that I got the feeling that he actually grew just a little bit closer to the group and became even more helpful again.
Then we have these weird scenes with Harukawa and Momota, which are just weird and Harukawa herself was a boring character, but if you care for some tragic background and forseeable character development that of course has to end with romantic feelings, sure.
The student council thing to prevent murders from happen was actually pretty interesting and i wish theyd gone through with that just a bit more, but it was a nice turn of events.
Talking about Ouma, the moment you think hes on your side, theres this weird scene with him and Monokuma and you know somethings up. I made a post about this earlier too, wishing for him to double cross everyone and eventually turn out good, but that suddenly turned into a pretty far fetched wish after the fourth trial where hes portrayed as ultra evil and later on reveals that hes the mastermind (wait, is he really? should his black and white clothing scheme have given him away sooner?)
i guess i... didnt mind it so much except for the fact that Ouma wont appear that often anymore. he even goes as far as to say that the killing game is over, but isnt it kinda boring that the character who hinted that he was evil, turns out to be evil after all? Well a lot of things in this game were a bit boring, so... sure. We even learn that Ouma is a remnant of despair and what?? how does that even make sense. If they are supposedly students of the new Kibougamine Gakuen which was built by Naegi, Junko and Despair wouldve long been dead! Alright then? Oh yes also the whole setting ins in SPACE and those students are the last 16 humans from earth who were put in cryosleep until they reached a new planet to live on. Oh...kay? Why not I mean.
For Hope to win, everyone sets out to kill Monokuma to finally make the Killing game end for real and.. look, Ouma is helping them! Somehow that is really giving me hope for his character even if his insane laugh and incredibly creepy sprite (seriously what the fuck) are a bit unsettling...
And then.. who wouldve thought? Another killing happens but this time with a twist. Ouma wasnt actually the ultra bad guy everyone thought and guess what! Hes not even the mastermind! Thats my son. I was super happy that some faith in Ouma was restored, even tho his plan to snuff out the true mastermind reminded me of Komaeda going crazy to single out the traitor... especially cause there are quite a few similarities between those two.
So for the final trial, it seems that there are quite a few hints linking to the true mastermind being Enoshima... again? How did she even get here. But theres some weird plan from the government and the fact that Monokuma is here as well might be that someone implanted some sort of virus like in sdr2? We also know that theres definitely someone who is watching the whole killing game. And thats... where it all goes to shit.
This dangan ronpa is the 53rd installment and the people watching are actually dangan ronpa fans! surprise youre all just fictional characters who chose to be here, and so is every other dangan ronpa character! nothing is real, you dont even really exist! lololol
do i need to say any more
I think that was the worst plot twist ive ever seen? You couldve just somehow figured something out, even make it a reality tv show for crying out loud but not some bullshit like ohh the dangan ronpa fans wanna see you despair! they wanna see you have hope!
fuck. off.
if it wasnt for that ending, that game wouldve been a solid 7/10 I’d say, especially with the last 3 chapters really getting me fired up. But that shit.. Its a literal, oh we just made this game cause you fans wanted it? we didnt actually wanna make this but you keep asking for more?
HOW ABOUT YOU DIDNT EVEN MAKE IT IN THE FIRST PLACE
im gonna go romance ouma in peace mode now bye
