#The Stones Stay Silent#aroaessidhe 2023 reads#aroace books#trans books#aromantic books#I really enjoyed this overall!#it's like ALMOST cozy fantasy. the cozy fantasy with a bit more dark stuff#or i guess like. slice of life/travelling fantasy#i feel like I wanted a little more of a narrative voice re: prose; and also worldbuilding#theres a lot of worldbuilding in some ways but like. hm. narratively? story? I guess? and how it ties to the immediate plot#a lot of that was revealed more later on and I had spent a lot of the earlier parts wondering/confused about things#specifically the night demon stuff felt a little disconnected since we don't find it out til later#which is obviously like. amnesia plot related#but like. nobody else mentions the existence of them or stories about them (even tho the MC did when they met)#also another random thing but i enjoyed the landlocked map? i feel like so many fantasy maps are islands or partially near the sea sdjghsf#but yay aroace fantasy where it's brought up quite a bit!#no romance
