1/3 The parquet floor, his red velvet recliner faded away to pink, the large face of his brown strapped watch, the painted plates that hung on the wall, that was all I could remember of my grandfather. I’ve never really known to count it as a memory; it was a serious of flashes,  like looking through someone else’s eyes, not my own, another life. He past away by the time I was three, it was cancer, it always is cancer in my family. After he went away to the hospital, there were more flashes, my mother and auntie hugging and crying, my cousin michael going to see him, but why couldn’t I? Buying a dress for a funeral, getting it absolutely wrinkled, and a sadness that settled over the family.
