when you’re not in control who are you to the story?
#something something we exist as a system of memories#anyway the idea of a story being told by someone who doesn’t feel much importance in it is really interesting#the main ones i can think of right now are Crash and The Secret History#and both of those use it as a way to play with tense and tone#they also tell you what to expect at the start (Vaughan/Bunny dying) and then play with your expectations of that#poses the question of a. an unreliable narrator#and b. is the journey or the destination more important to a story#anyway#en thinks thoughts#(this was prompted by the scene in crash where ballard reflects on feeling like vaughan is in control like a puppet master)
