Billy turns to Sidney who is not standing that far away from him and the look that he is giving her is unrecognizable. They hear screams and more panic sets in Sidney. Billy's eyes are on her and he sticks his tongue out and slowly licks the dried blood tasting it, "corn syrup. Same stuff they used for pig's blood in CARRIE" Billy says as she slowly takes a step back moving into the kitchen; he lurches as she takes another step back in horror. She continues to back up until she goes into the arms of Stu, "Stu... please... help me..." she says as he just stares at her with a subtle smile and holds a voice changer to his mouth, "surprise Sidney" he whispers into the thing making her realized both of them were the killers.

Since they were busy focused on Sidney you ran to where they were, "HEY! LEAVE HER ALONE!" you yell catching their attention and allowing Sidney to run to you letting her get behind you, "thought I killed you" Stu says as Sidney's mind was racing while your body fills with adrenaline and you felt your clothes soak and drip blood into the floor. Squeezing Sydney's hand you pulled her as you bolt into the living room to create some distance between them, but they stand in the entryway trapping both in. "where y'all going? It's not over yet. We've got one more surprise... Stu I believe it's your turn" Billy says as if it was something to be proud of, "Oh yeah" Stu answers as he disappears into the kitchen, "what's wrong? Both look like you've seen a ghost" Billy says as the noise comes from the kitchen with a dragging sound. Stu comes along dragging two bodies and rolls them into your's and Sidney's feet, "Daddy!" both yell for both of your dad's at the same time, "close enough" Billy says as Stu places a cellular in Mr. Prescott's shirt pocket.

"Guess won't be needing this anymore," Stu says as he and Billy lurch to scare both and in a quick movement you turned and hugged Sidney to shield her from their attacks, " you should've died with your mom" You whispered on her ear and you stabbed her around 6 times in the back.  She started screaming and trashing in pain; you let her go but not before taking the knife out and she drops to the floor bleeding, "why are you doing this?" she asked looking at you as you backed up towards the guys. "It's all part of the game" Stu answers, "it's called GUESS HOW I'M GOING TO DIE!" Billy says looking straight at her, "FUCK YOU!" Sidney says to Billy as she was slowly and painfully bleeding out, "Oh Sid, that's my job. Isn't that right baby?" you said as Billy grabbed you by the hips pulling you closer to him and started kissing your neck without stopping the eye contact with Sidney, "right" he answers, "you're crazy... all of you" she said as her eyes move back and forth between the three, "the official term is 'psychotic' " Stu said matter of factly as she is trying to hold her posture but there was so much blood.

"You'll never get away with this," she said as she was struggling even more, " tell that to Cotton Weary. You wouldn't believe how easy it was to frame him" Billy said as Stu continue, "Yeah, we just watched a few movies. Took a few notes. It was fun". The three relish the madness as Sidney looks at yours and her dad to see them cry, "why did you kill my mother?" she asked with a determined look making you laugh, "Why? WHY? Did you guys hear that...Hmm... you don't really remember me do you?" you said kneeling in front of her taking the knife into your hand as she shook her head, "I don't understand..." she said fighting the tears that still were running down her face, "we did your mom a favor, Sid.  The woman was a slut bag whore who flashed her shit all over town like she was Sharon Stone or something"  Billy explained, "so we put her out of her misery, I mean let's face it, your mom was no Sharon Stone" Stu says cracking up over, while Billy turns very serious, " is that motive enough for you? or how about this. Did yoy know you slut mother was sleeping with my dad and she's the reason my mom moved out and deserted me" Billy said as Sidney stares, "or even better? The whore of your mother started sleeping with my dad as well making this asshole abandon us, causing her to feel that she had to kill herself to get out of the misery your fucking mother put her through. And you know what's the funniest part, Sid?... Is that  I saw her do it when I was a 6 fucking year old" you said slicing her cheek as she is rigid with shock, both testimonies resonating the truth of her mother.

"What?" she said, " think about it, Sid. On the off chance that we get caught, motives like that could divide the jury for years," you said standing up and kicking her in the process, "you took our mothers, so we took yours. Big sympathy factor. Maternal abandonment, mother loss, childhood trauma, and paternal abandonment cause serious deviant behavior" Billy said as he grabbed your hand to guide you to where yours and Sidney's dad were, "NO DON'T" she yells with the little strength she has left, "I wouldn't waste any more breaths, Sid. Cause if my grandpa taught me well you are about to die in a few minutes" you said laughing, "YOU ARE INSANE" she said spitting blood, "yet I'm not the one bleeding out on the floor" you said moving your sight back to your dad, "please let them go" she begged, "come on, Sid. Think about it. Your father is the chief's suspect. We cloned his cellular. The evidence is there, there is no point in begging" Stu says as he gets closer, " what if your father snapped? your mom's anniversary set him off and he went on a murder spree killing everyone" Billy continues, "except for me, Y/n, and Billy... we were left for dead" Stu says holding another knife in his hands, "and then he saw the poor bastard that his wife cheated with, kidnapped him, kill him and you. Then shoots himself in the head. The perfect ending" you said as Billy places the gun on your hands and gets behind you, "see you in hell bastard" you said as you shoot your dad dead, "you looked so hot baby, it's making me really hard" Billy said spinning you around so he could face you, "if we didn't have matters to attend I would let you fuck me right now daddy" you said and he lowered his hands to grope your ass as both started to make out heavily, "don't want to be a cockblock 'cause I would love to watch that, but I think we have other things to do" Stu said making both stop and Billy looked really pissed clenching his fist and jaw making Stu raise his hands in defense.

You let go of Billy and he takes the gun setting it down on the table near the foyer. While you decided to look for the landline to make the desperate call for help as Billy moves to Sidney's dad, "grab the gun, I'll untie pops" he said to Stu, "where'd you put it?" Stu said searching the foyer for the gun, "it's on the table" Billy says, "no it's not" Stu answered as Billy hobbles over. The gun is gone. "Where the fuck is it?" Billy says, "Right here asshole" Gale Weather said and Billy and Stu look up at the same time to find her standing at the front doorway, gun in hand and she looked a mess, "I thought she was dead," Billy said to Stu, "she looked dead. Still does" Stu answered while Gale holds the gun firm in total control, "I've got an ending for you. The reporter left for dead in the news van comes to, stumble upon two dipshits, finds the gun, fumbles your plan, and saves the day" Gale says not paying attention, but Billy notices a familiar figure stepping behind Gale, " I don't like that ending tho" you said stabbing her twice on her side making her drop the gun to hold her side as her knees gave out, "you?" she said as she drops completely to the floor and tries to reach for the gun but you ste on her hand allowing Billy to grab the gun, "cool move" Stu said making you smile, "let's finish it all" you said stepping away from Gale and holding your hand out for the gun and then shooting Gale in the head, "this time I'm making sure she's dead" you said turning to Stu and then moving to Sidney's dad who looks like he has given up.

Taking out the gag from Sidney's dad allowed him to talk, "Why are you doing this?" he asked as he hadn't heard the whole speech given previously, " I'm getting tired of people asking the same stupid question, but I'll indulge you since is your last request. Everything happened since you couldn't keep the bitch of your wife off others man's dicks" you said handing the gun to Billy as Stu left the room, "good night pops" Billy said and shot him in the head and then placed the gun on her dads after cleaning it.

You pressed the phone to your ear, "911, What's your emergency?" they asked and you started to act, "PLEASE! HELP! HELP! THE KILLER IS HERE I SAW HIM STAB MY FRIENDS, PLEASE SEND SOMEONE I'M BEGGING YOU!" you said both Billy and Stu chuckling at your acting, "we are sending help right now sweety, everything is going to be okay. Just calm down" the operator said as she heard you cry, "can you find a safe spot?" she asked, "I'm...I'm gonna try," you said sounding scared, "can you take the phone with you?" she asked, "yes. I'm trying to go to a safe spot....OH GOD NO! THERE IS SO MUCH BLOOD!" you said sounding scared and fake sobbing, " listen to my voice sweety and continue walking alright. You are going to be okay" she said trying to calm you but she didn't know that you were acting. You started screaming for help as Billy got behind you grabbing the phone and dropping it, "NO PLEASE! PLEASE DON'T KILL ME! " you said with terror as Billy couldn't keep his hands to himself and pulled the voice changer, "SO TELL ME WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE SCARY MOVIE?" he said and you started to scream and then he stepped on the phone disconnecting the call. "and the Oscar goes to... Y/n" Stu said clapping his hands as you rolled your eyes.

"okay let's figure out who stabs who?" you said walking near the guys, "wait! you should do it! no offense Billy but she knows where to" Stu said as he handed you the knife, "I'll  guide him Stu, and either way they are on their way" You said causing Billy and Stu to both eyed each other as you stood behind Billy putting the knife on his hands, "ready?" Billy said looking at Stu, "Yeah..." Billy pulls the knife back and brings it forward quickly with your hand guiding his movements slicing into Stu. He stumbles to his knees, wincing in pain. "Jesus..." Stu says as blood gushes, real blood, a dark, deep red. Stu inspects the wound to his side then he smiles, "good one" he said as Billy slashes at Stu's arm, two quick cuts making him double over, when Billy was going to slice him again Stu stopped him, "That's it, Billy. I can't take it anymore. I'm feeling woozy". You took the knife from him and looked at Stu who looked in major pain as he staggers a bit to get away, a couple of seconds later you hear him drop to the floor. "come on baby just do it. I trust you" Billy said standing in front of you, " I love you baby" he said placing his hand on your right cheek making you looked at him with surprise. It was the first time he told you that he loved you and it was the worst moment, " I love you too" you said as you pushed the knife into him and pull it quickly puncturing him and he doubles over, "Jesus... fuck that hurt" He said and you looked at him worried, "I'm fine don't worry" he said squelching the pain, " I'm ready" you said ready for him to stab you just like he did to Stu. Billy with the knife now in his hands placed it directly where you told him, he leaned down to kiss you as the knife pierced your skin and took it out quickly. "I think you went a little too deep Billy," you said as your blood gushed out faster than theirs, "Fuck! I'm sorry," he said and you saw the panic in his eyes as your knees started to give out. "is fine I can hear the ambulance I'll be okay, baby," you said as he slowly put you down and then he lay on the floor a few steps away from you as everything went black.

~TIME LATER~

Beep, beep, beep was all you heard, slowly you opened your eyes and saw someone with their head resting on their crossed arms that were placed on your bed, “Billy?” you said with a raspy voice making him look up and smile, “hey sleepy head” he said as he got closer to you and kissed your forehead. As he got back into place he winced, “I'm okay” he said as he saw the look of worry in your eyes, “how long was I out?” you asked and he grabbed your hand, “for a week, they said that you lost a lot of blood” he said feeling guilty since he was the one that stabbed you and went too deep.

Before you could say anything else a Doctor walk in, “I see you woke up Ms.Y/L/N. And Loomis you are here again still” the doctor said making you look at Billy, “I couldn’t leave my girl alone Doc” he answer making you smile, “Well that’s sweet of you, but right now I have to talk with Ms.Y/L/N about her condition” the Doctor said and Billy started to get up to leave but you held his hand tighter, “he can hear” you said and the Doctor nodded, “okay, that’s good with me... So the stabbing didn’t hit any vital organs by just an inch, you lost a significant amount of blood but we were able to stabilize you and save both your’s and the fetus's life” he said and you had to do a double take just as Billy, “what?” you said as you felt Billy’s hand turned into a fist, “yes, you are pregnant about 8 weeks pregnant” he said you just starred at him in shock, “I'll let you process everything” the Doctor said as he walked away and tears started to run down your cheek, Billy raised up and walked away and started to throw stuff to the floor making you cry harder, “I’m sorry Billy, I’m sorry” you said sobbing and he turned and rushed to your side grabbing your face kissing it, “no, no, no I should be the one saying that baby. I could’ve lost both of you that day” he said as actual tears rolled down his cheek, “The Billy Loomis is crying” you said and he gave you a look that made you shiver, “move to the side so I can cuddle my baby mama” he said making you smile.

Chad and Ethan had been dating for over 8 months now, They have done everything you can think is possible but always thought they were missing something, that was till they meant you. Anyway I was wondering if you had any headcanons for blades childhood? Does he have any siblings and such? Or just some general headcanons for dustys time with the ppaa? (I slowly feel like I'm going to start scratching at the walls in desperation for some planes content I love it sm)

I did, yes!! Hopefully it's a good combination of familiar and new, I wanted the background to stay the same XP (we don't talk about how it's asymmetrical but I'll fix that eventually lol)

Blade's the oldest child of four kids, all a couple of years apart (damned staircase children). Needless to say the house was always pretty loud, which might have been part of the reason Blake (aka Blade) had frequent migraines as a child. He was easily the most sensible and mature of the four, though April (the second youngest) was pretty similar, if a bit bossy.

Oldest to youngest of the Ranger children, there's Blake Aaron (jr), Caleb Marshall, April Beverly, and Sydney Robin. [note that that's first and middle names, yes I gave them all full ass fuckin' names lol]

Blake was always a quiet kid, and he liked to spend time alone outside. He'd catch weird bugs, collect cool objects like rocks and things, and build shit with whatever existed in the shed. Despite the nice suburbs, the kids were still, well, kids. And 50s-60s kids, to boot. They built some of the best and weirdest fortresses known to man.

He was also an avid reader, and frequented the local library for the latest copy of his favorite novels. And, because he enjoyed the attention of the kindly librarians there, who appreciated that he helped them out during the afternoons and was all around really mature for his age

He went to a relatively high-end school growing up, given the family was pretty upper-class, but even with that perk, his school years were pretty shit. He was a theater kid, and a bit of an emo (though he didn't have the balls to be a rebel) and spent the majority of his time avoiding people and being a straight-A student. That's not to say he didn't have friends, he just wasn't really a "people person". Never was, never will be lol

Had an absolute shit relationship with his father, though. He had few too many verbal fights with Blake sr, and after tearing out of the house headed for LA, Caleb (the second oldest) became the son he never had. It should figure he favored the children that followed his stead and went into the military.

Diana (le mother) wasn't too much better, although she was more sympathetic. She was just kind of an overbearing hawk parent to Blake, mainly stemming from the years of his migraines. But she didn't exactly approve of his antics either; she just wanted him to come to his senses, rather than beat them out of him.

Onwards to the Dusty bit here, I have a few fun stories of his time around with the Piston Peak team...

He may or may not have kinda sorta maybe gotten his ass whooped by the team this one time, because while helping Blade and Maru move an engine, he kinda bumped a heavy thing which fell...on Blade's foot. And he was down for a few weeks with a cast. yeah Dusty spent a night outside duct-taped to a light pole--

He earned honorable rights to the kitchen in his first week with them, after sharing some old family recipes the team started hounding him to make every time he was there. He's even got his own apron (with his seven on it, made by Dipper as a late birthday gift)

He's also joined Cabbie and Windlifter on the side during their gym sessions. He doesn't have the strength to go up against either one, but like Blade, he gets a kick out of watching them compete, and enjoys furthering his own muscle strength in the process.

He has attempted to learn chess before with Blade and Wind, but he still doesn't quite get it, so he often joins Maru or Cabbie in checkers instead (a game he's more familiar with and can kick ass at)

Free! The Final Stroke screeching/reaction (spoilers)

AHHHHH I JUST WATCHED THE FINAL STROKE MOVIE TODAY IN THEATERS ON PREMIER DAY AND IT WAS LAKSJDFOAIFJWOEI to summarize it all, it was Very Gay, which was to be expected but they DID NOT have to get so freaking extra with it 😩😩😩

much screaming and many spoilers ahead

FIRST OF ALL, KIRISHIMA NATSUYA: HE WAS SO FUCKING HANDSOME DAFKJOIEFJOSIDJF. SO HANDSOME. SO HANDSOME AND STUPID AND OVERLY FRIENDLY AS WE LOVE HIM TO BE ALKDSJFOAIEW.

he was in the film for a total of maybe 5 minutes altogether, which was kind of a lot bc the film kind of was just putting all the characters back in for the sake of putting them in imo? for the fans, lol. so everyone could see their faves. and in these five minutes that he appeared, our mans:

bragged about his little brother he's so proud of

got laughed at by nao for being natsuya (aka dumb and straightforward) as usual

trained with sousuke (he was hanging out in the same pool with him, nao, and makoto to train and aid in sousuke's rehab training)

got a call from ikuya after the international swimming competition in sydney!!!! in that same cafe he's always at!!!! and he was with nao at the time he got the call. casual and cool as always, being the cool big brother or whatever. he ended the call with a curt, "you got it. see you. don't catch a cold."

HE WAS HANGING OUT AT CAFE MARON WHILE THEY WAITED FOR THE SYDNEY COMPETITORS TO COME BACK TO JAPAN. HE WAS BEHIND THE COUNTER WITH ASAHI (WHO WAS HOLDING BABY TSUKIMI IN A CARRIER ON HIS CHEST!!!!!) AND HE THREW HIS ARM AROUND ASAHI AND WAS GETTING SO CLOSE LIKE ALKSDJFAOIEJAOEI. I have absolutely no clue what he was saying at the time bc i was too busy freaking out and trying to hold in the sounds bc the theater was so quiet. but his GODDAMN FACE. HE WAS SMIRKING. SO HANDSOME 😩😩😩😩😩😩😩

and of fucking course, they were all out together at a restaurant when the sydney competitors came back, and he was like, "wth no one else is drinking alcohol tonight?" and nao was like "ofc not haha" AND YOU KNOW WHAT HAPPENS NEXT

HE FUCKING FALLS ASLEEP AT THE TABLE AFTER DRINKING AND EVERYONE IS SURROUNDING HIM AND PATTING HIM LIKE "dude..." and ikuya is sitting there like, omg can't believe this mess is my brother....

i thought that just might be his last scene in the film but then we show back up to the kirishima household and natsuya is eating some sort of luxury holiday(?) bento and ikuya is like "aren't you gonna save any for me?" and natsuya's like "of course not. this is for me, you gotta wait until next year xD" and then ikuya just fucking SNATCHES up several different foods and stuffs his face with all of them and natsuya starts arguing with him over them laskjdfoawiefjao where was this brotherly affection all this time?????

and then cut to a few seconds later, natsuya's bumming in his room on the floor like in s3 when ikuya comes in and tells him about his new future goals and alskdjfaoei brothers sharing their ambitions together 😩😩 WHAT IS GOING ON. EVERYONE GETS ALONG SO WELL NOW???

NEXT: we'll go back to the beginning i guess lmfao but they're preparing for some sort of university festival

we start off with an easily misunderstandable shoujo-style situation where asahi is talking to ikuya like, "i know it's your first time... you don't have to be nervous. i know you can do it." and ikuya's like "no! i can't 😣" like the tsun he is backed up against the wall. and then it turns out they're trying to make a mille feuille cake.... but everything he's made so far looked like crepes

and for some damn reason, KISUMI comes outta nowhere into the kitchen and is like "ooooh what's this? a mille feuille cake? although they all look kinda like crepes haha ^^" and then ikuya RUNS THE FUCK OUT OF THE KITCHEN, yelling, "i told you i couldn't do it!!!" like the fucking tsun he is... and asahi is yelling at kisumi like "why did you just say that!!!" and starts rubbing his knuckles into kisumi's head and kisumi's just laughing like, "oh did i do that hehe"

and for some reason... seijuurou is working at the booth in his speedo and swim team jacket. i mean i'm not complaining but sir.... PLS TAKE MY MONEY AND GIVE ME YOUR FAT OCTOPUS BALLS. (he literally started a batter mixing competition with hoshikawa inside the booth, like what are they even doing in the same booth???)

then rin and sousuke show up to ikuya, asahi, and hiyori(?)'s booth, and they're offering them the crepes and then they get into a conversation about smth that leads into them showing the embarrassing photos they have of each other?????? like ikuya has a pic of rin in his maid costume for some reason??? (tho it isn't shown) and rin shows an embarrassing pic of ikuya he has in his phone that he got from natsuya???????????? and then ikuya starts chasing after rin yelling at him to delete it lasdkjfoaei

and then haru is off to the side selling ugly ass bird mascots again lmfao. bc ofc he is. love that weirdo

BUT THE REAL KICKER HERE IS KINJOU!!!!!!!!!!!

APPARENTLY, HIS VILLAIN BACKSTORY COMES FROM HIS CHILDHOOD CRUSH (/exaggerated) ON HIYORI ALSKDJFOAIE WHAAAT. apparently he was that annoying kid in the playground who would go up to hiyori and bother him bc he wanted a friend. bb hiyori was literally like "why are you even talking to me so much?" in his sandbox. and bb kinjou is like, "well there's gotta be smth you like, right? what is it?" and hiyori's like "well i feel kinda happy when i'm swimming... :)" as images of ikuya flash into his mind, that gay ass

BUT KINJOU'S GAY ASS EYES START SPARKLING TOO AND THEN HE'S LIKE "I GOTTA LEARN WHAT THE BIG DEAL ABOUT SWIMMING IS" and he runs home, begs his brother to take him to the pool. but next time he brings his swimming stuff with him to the playground, hiyori isn't there anymore and apparently he left for america at that time (or smth). so poor baby basically got ghosted

but hiyori still knows him when they're older!!!! kinjou shows up when they're throwing out the trash after the uni festival and calls out to hiyori to taught him (which is where that bullying preview scene came from i guess) and alkfjeoiaejoaifj omfg it's like that estranged childhood friends (sorta) trope but it'll never go kinjou's way bc hiyori is and will always be in love with ikuya 😔

kinjou would make such a good yandere tho!!!! he has a feral expression on a few times throughout the movie, and during a race he gets super competitive mid-race and... ngl he was kinda sexy 😳 i'm actually kind of surprised by how taken i was with him in this movie. doesn't help that he's unfairly handsome and his hair looks fucking amazing. i MAY OR MAY NOT be exploring this man in the future..................

i also found the ending with haru pretty interesting!!!! it kind of hints at neurodivergence? smth along the lines of disassociation or multiple personalities? (guess 50% off was kinda right on that end lmfao).

he gets obsessed with beating albert wahlander, which is the most fired up i've ever seen him (to the point of almost hurting himself) and then the shadow or whatever effect albert has on haru kind of just overtakes him and pushes haru out of his own body in a way... it doesn't make sense to describe it this way, i know, but haru is literally watching himself say hurtful things to his friends while being overtaken by this... albert obsessed persona?

it's so interesting to see haru being the one obsessing over someone instead of the other way around for once!!! at the end of the movie (after all the credits) haru says the same thing he once said at the beginning of season 1? about how "at age 5, you're a prodigy. at age 15, you're a genius. at age 20(?), you're average." and this is def gonna be explored/concluded in the second part of the final stroke movie so i'm excited for that!!!! april 2022 come at me!!!!

there were SOOOOO many other things going on, plot wise and fanservice wise, and ofc kyoto animation was fucking TOP TIER SHIT. all the water effects... there was a shot where haru was looking at his reflection in the water and they make a drop fall and spread and shake his reflection in the waves and it was lafkjsefoiaeja fucking glorious. the soundtrack was lovely too. there was a RADWIMPS-esque beginning song and a sexy ass electric guitar buildup for kinjou (which may or may not be contributing to my growing obsession with him...)

AHHHH!!!! it was so good and everyone was so cute and handsome and gay and funny. we literally see every single character we've met before in some way, shape, or form lmfao. i might just go back to the theater and watch it again on one of the upcoming holidays this week.... SO GOOD. SO GOOD.

The group walked into the tubbing park (author’s note: this is a real place in Quebec so is the ice hotel I went there and did tubbing a little over a year ago totally look it up) geared up in thick coat. They split up into 2 groups: the boys and Noelle and Thomas. Logan ran towards the tallest slope, a metal slide covered in a layer of ice called Mount Everest. Finn looked a little nervous as they climbed the 4 flights of stairs to the top. They were loaded into as shoot and the dropped straight down. Finn clung to Leo, while Logan raised his arms and screamed. Noelle and Thomas stated with the smaller slopes working their way through the whole park. 

They all met up for the black diamond slopes a going in a big group so they would catch air, which they did.

“Could we maybe take a break,” Finn asked.

“Of course baby. We can let Noelle and Thomas do whatever else they want” Leo said and Logan nodded in agreement.

They walked through the ice hotel, checking out the chapel that help wedding, and went down the small ice slides. They ended up in the  club part of the hotel. It was ocean themed this year so sharks and fish were carved into the walls.

“Oh my god there’s a bar.” Logan ran towards it, “guys hurry they have ice cups.”

They all got drinks and, after finishing them, walked around to look in the hotel rooms. They were decorated with different themes. One even had a dragon coming out of them wall. 

“It would be so fun to stay here,” Leo ran his hand over the ice bed frame.

“I don’t think these beds are big enough for us babe,” Finn laughed.

“It would be fun to fuck in one of these rooms tho,” Logan said not missing a beat.

“Jesus Christ Lo,” Finn smacked his shoulder.

“What’s your plan for the day, babe?” Rin asked his girlfriend through the phone line, they’d been chatting for the past while and Rin was completely unaware of the surprise that you had in store for him.

“Not much, I’m feeling a little under the weather so I think I’ll just sleep it off…” You lied as you quietly threw your favourite dress into your suitcase. You held your phone between your ear and your shoulder as you strolled into your bathroom and began packing up your make-up, listening to Rin’s worried voice.

“Under the weather how?” He asked and you giggled at the image of him trying to coddle you long distance style, something he often tried but rarely worked out.

“It’s alright Rin-Rin, I think I’m just catching the flu, it’s been really cold in Japan so far this winter.” You told him, still packing quietly having made your way out of the bathroom and back to your case. It was now entirely packed and all you needed was to finish up talking to Rin and close it up, you'd do it over the phone but you didn't want the sound of the zip to blow your story.

“Hm… Alright baby, just make sure you drink plenty of water, and don't sleep for too long, it's still really early and you'll feel even worse if you can't sleep tonight, you hear me?” Rin lectured you softly but firmly to which you couldn't help but smile.

“Yeah I hear you, love. You better get going your morning session starts soon right?” You inquired as you looked at the clock on your bedside table, you'd need to leave your apartment fairly soon if you didn't want to be in a rush.

“I guess so, get something to drink and keep warm, okay? I love you.” He told you again softly while you smiled and fiddled with the zip of your open case.

“Will do, now get off of the phone and go to practice. I'll call you when I wake up. I looooove you~” You chirped out, living for the chuckle that sounded from the other end of the line.

“Will do, chief. Catch you later, babe.” With that the call ended and you hurriedly zipped up your case and grabbed your purse, making sure you had everything you needed you headed for your front door.

Quickly you left your apartment, locked the door behind you, loaded your case in the trunk of your car, got yourself in and started driving.

You'd been planning this surprise for months, you'd spent countless hours making sure that your timing would be absolutely perfect, calling people up, making sure everyone you needed for the plan to be a success knew what they needed to do. It was going to be perfectly perfect, you've made sure of it.

Rin was gonna have no idea what hit him.

Soon enough your car pulled up to the airport car park and the butterflies in your stomach awoke along with your excitement.

It was hard to believe that it had been a year since you'd seen Rin, a year since you've hugged him, kissed him, heard his voice with your own ears rather than through a crackling phone line, but, soon enough your wait would be over and you'd finally be able to see the absolute love of your life again.

Your flight was a direct one to Sydney and it wasn't due to take off for another three hours as you made sure you'd gotten to the airport with plenty of time to spare, there was no way in hell you were going to miss this flight. In all honesty another day without Rin would surely kill you at this stage.

One thing you didn't enjoy was the nerves that were building up in your stomach, slowly but surely. In reality there wasn't much for you to be nervous about but you couldn't help it.

Taking a deep breath, you reassured yourself. Rin would be over the moon when he sees you, he'll probably cry he'll be that happy. You know exactly where he keeps his spare key to his apartment and how to get there so that wouldn't be a problem and the fact that you had perfect English would make sure you stayed golden until you had Rin as your guide again. There was absolutely nothing to worry about.

“Passengers traveling on Flight 483 to Sydney please make your way to gate 103, boarding will begin shortly, thank you.”

Lost in your thoughts, you hadn’t realized how much time you’d spent over-thinking and reassuring but you began to make your way to your gate anyway and before you knew it you were seated by a window on a plane that in around 9 hours would have you in the place where you needed to be.

The flight was long and boring and it took what felt like forever to actually get to Sydney, but you kept yourself busy with your thoughts that were running wild in your head. Unsurprisingly it was Rin that was causing havoc inside your head, you’d been thinking about your guys’ entire relationship throughout the duration of your flight and you couldn’t help but wonder about the future for you two.

You’d been dating Rin for the past 3 years but you’d known each other for about 5. You’d started going out in your third year of highschool and stayed strong since, when you first met you’d been managing the Iwatobi swim club with his little sister Gou and you weren’t sure what to think of him, he seemed to be a dick to your friends but Gou told you that he was actually a pretty good guy, you tended to leave each other alone so you didn’t really have anything to say about him until Iwatobi went on their training camp and you’d ran into him jogging during the night. You both got to talking and for whatever reason you had given him your number and he’d actually texted you not long after you parted ways that night.

After that you both started to build up a friendship that, according to the members of both swim teams, “painfully slowly” turned into a relationship.

In all honesty in the space of 5 years there was nobody that could make you feel the way he did, nobody who could piss you off as much, nobody who could show you so much raw passion and most definitely nobody who could show you was much love and compassion. He was one in a million and what made it so much better was the fact that you knew that’s how he thinks of you too.

Even though you were both still so young you really couldn’t see yourself ever being as happy with someone else as you are with Rin Matsuoka and as you made your way through the arrivals gate of Sydney airport with a small smile on your face you hoped you’d stay together for a very, very, very long time.

Rin’s apartment wasn’t too far from the airport, luckily, it was only around a 20 minute cab ride and you spent the 20 minutes texting excitedly in the group chat you’d made with the members of Rin’s former swim team and your own, a group chat you made to ensure everyone knew of and wouldn’t blow your plan.

You: I just landed in Sydney! I’m on my way to Rin’s apartment now… 😅

Gou: This is so exciting! You might wanna text him soon tho he keeps asking the guys to go to your apartment and check on you 🙄

Haru: I told him you were still sleeping not too long ago and he freaked out

Laughing you tucked your phone into your pocket, you wouldn't lie to yourself and completely disagree with what Sousuke was insinuating, but to be completely fair it had been over a year and even if it hadn't been…

Thanking the cab driver you paid him and stepped out of the car, making your way towards the entrance of Rin's apartment building dragging your suitcase behind you with a skip in your step.

Once you got in you excitedly and as quickly as your legs could lug you and your heavy suitcase up the stairs, you made it to Rin's floor and took a deep inhale once you were stood in front of his door. This was it.

Stretching up to the top of his door frame you swiped your fingers across the wood and grabbed the key, wasting no time you slipped the key into the lock and opened the door with a shaky hand.

After letting yourself in and shutting the door behind you, it finally hit you.

You were in Australia and in about 7 minutes your boyfriend of three years would walk through the door and you’d see him in the flesh for the first time in a year, exhaling a shaky breath you sat down on the edge of his bed, fiddling with the ends of the blue duvet gently. In an attempt to calm yourself down you scanned the fairly small apartment, spotting a brown framed picture on his bedside locker you couldn’t help the smile on your face as you reached over and grabbed it.

It was a group picture with Haru, Makoto, Nagisa, Rei, Gou, Momo, Nitori,, Sousuke, Rin and you that you’d all taken together the last time Rin had been home as a kind of reunion thing before he left again, everyone was smiling, even Haru. In all honesty it was an amazing photo but it’s structure resembled some sort of class photo, the realization made you giggle lightly and as soon as the sound left your mouth the noise of Rin’s door rattling began.

Quickly you set the frame back in it’s spot and stood up, patting yourself down and fixing your hair slightly as the door opened wide and he stood there in the doorway, his head down and looking at his phone, yet to notice your presence.

It seemed so surreal, he was right in front of you, you’d almost ran to him the second you saw him standing there but the fact he hadn’t noticed you standing right in front of him yet was too good, you wanted to see how long it’d take him.

Eyes still locked on his phone, he threw his duffel bag down on the floor and walked into his bathroom, you almost laughed as your phone began to buzz in your pocket, taking it out you couldn’t hold in your laughter anymore when you saw that it was Rin who was calling you, sliding your thumb across the screen to answer you help the phone up to your ear and let out a laugh, “Why hello there.”

Your laughter came out in full force as Rin backed out of his bathroom, the phone still held against his ear and his eyes wide with shock.

“I was wondering how long it’d take you to notice…” You said doubled over slightly, your hand on your stomach and small tears forming in the corners of your eyes, Rin still didn’t move, just stared in confusion and slowly lowered his phone from his ear.

When your laughter subsided you looked up to meet his gaze that was already filling with tears and you couldn’t help but want to cry yourself.

Rin’s legs seemed to move on their own accord as his phone was now abandoned and his arms had you pulled against his chest, you could hear the way his heart was beating out of his chest as you wrapped your arms around his middle tightly, closing your eyes and inhaling his scent you ran your hands up and down his back all while pushing him closer to you.

“When did you- what?” He stuttered out pulling away and bringing his hands up to cup your face, tears falling down his cheeks. Giving him a shaky smile you leaned into his touch, “Surprise.”

He only shook his head at you in disbelief, a smile forming on his face as he leaned down, pressing his lips to yours with all the passion you’d missed in the last 12 months, his lips moved in sync with yours and your hands slid up to tangle in his soft hair, tugging softly as his own hands slid down to your hips, pulling you closer and the smirk on his face breaking the kiss.

You’d never seen a boy who could have a face full of tear stains, glossy eyes and a smirk at the same time and still be able to make your knees weak but Rin Matsuoka was something else.

“Don’t seem under the weather to me.” He pointed out, his smirk turning into a soft smile as he watched you giggle up at him, “I slept it off on the plane…”

Shaking his head again he gave you a shark toothed smile, “You know you’re not leaving my side ever again, right?” He joked his face coming close to yours as you messed and tugged gently at his hair giving him a cheeky smile, “That’s what I was hoping for.”

August 21: Mission: Impossible II

Not gonna lie, this is without question the Mission: Impossible movie that is remembered most unfavorably by me and, I'm pretty sure, everyone else. My recollection is that they tried SO SO SO SO HARD to make an action movie for Today's Kids; I'm typing this with the title screen of the 4K Blu-ray blasting its turn-of-the-millennium neo-metal version of the classic theme with Tom Cruise running in front of a wall of flame and it's just like come on. Is there even must fun spycraft in this? The first one promised lots of gravely furtive glancing, world-class makeup disguises, and dazzling gadgetry. Did this movie's director John Woo replace those with just way way way too much shooting and chasing and sexy vehicles? That's how I remember it but it's been a couple of decades.

I should probably address this series' exciting approach to director selection. The first one was directed by the legendary Brian De Palma, who brought us Carrie, The Untouchables, and Carlito's Way. Whether or not this one worked out, the trend here seemed to be to choose a respected director with a certain cred that could be imported into the franchise. More on that as this series unfolds. I am now to press play.

Opening scene is about a scientist who injects himself with something while a voiceover teases us with I-already-forget-what.

Oh, he's pals with Ethan; they're on a plane together out of Sydney when some bad-guy shenanigans totally thwart the whole fly-to-the-destination-safely thing. But! It wasn't even Ethan! It was good-ol' makeup fake-outery! It was a heist to take the warn leather pouch that the scientist had.

This I remember - during the opening credits, the REAL Ethan Hunt is climbing somewhere impressive, all freestyle like. All the related supplemental marketing materials never fail to talk up Tom Cruise's penchant for doing his own stunts, but these don't look real.

He then receives a fancy techno-message in a very, very dramatic and action-movie-ish fashion, which is that someone flies a helicopter by his climbing mountain and fires a rocket near him containing message-glasses tech! The voice in the message glasses sounds like Anthony Hopkins. Is it Anthony Hopkins?

Anyway now he has to go to Spain to recruit Thandie Newton and here is where it's already starting to get way too the-style-of-John-Woo. There is a flamenco show and Ethan and TN spot each other across the room. There is SLO MOTION and SPANISH STOMPING and ACOUSTIC GUITAR, and THOSE TWO GAZING AT EACH OTHER. I tell you I do not care for it.

What happens next is TN proceeds to use fancy technology and lockpicking skills to steal a well-concealed necklace. Ethan tags along flirtatiously. She still tries to steal the necklace even though this Lothario, this smarmy but irresistible cad, is trying to distract her with his testosterone.

Ugh, I was very right to remember not liking stuff about this movie. Ethan fails to recruit her at the jewel heist, so he car-chases at her the next day! He calls her during the car chase to irritate/seduce her, and she's all "you'll have to catch me ha ha", and it ends in a nearly fatal crash and then they KISS. The director worked very hard to ensure the kissing was HAWT, and Ethan has now successfully recruited TN for both spy work and boinkage.

Anthony Hopkins! He is in the next scene! That really was him! How did I forget that he is in this movie. This scene where he meets with Ethan and fills him in on everything is effectively expository. But then after he knows what he's gotta do, he walks with INTENSITY and it is in SLOW MOTION next to a BURNING EFFIGY THING with ELECTRIC GUITAR MUSIC GOING ON.

0:33:40 - Oh now it's a little more what I like, with a montage about using spy tech to get Ambrose, the bad guy who was pretending to be Ethan on the plane in the beginning, to track TN. And to further assure us that there is techie-fun to be had, Ving Rhames returns to be that guy for Ethan's team. But there is also time in this sequence for shots of TN walking slowly and looking super pretty. You know, so she can seduce Ambrose. A flowing scarf figures prominently in this imagery. A John Woo Film.

I like that they tricked Ambrose into thinking he is so damn smart for tracking her down. I also like Ambrose's compound on Sydney Harbour, it is a bitchin property.

Scene just happened where Ambrose seriously menaces his friend and uses a cigar-clipper on his finger. Ambrose is a bad friend.

But then they're all at the horse race game, even Ambrose's injured friend, who we learn is named Stemp and who is spying on TN, and Ethan and VR are spying on them all. There are shots of TN doing sleight of hand to steal a tape from Ambrose's pocket and it's pretty good spy-shot stuff.

I guess I should mention that there's one more guy on Ethan's team of four, an Australian guy. I haven't caught his name, so he is Australian Guy now, and he is pretending to be an employee of the horse race game venue. He gets bullied by Stemp! We don't like Stemp!

The tape she stole, they watch it right away and it shows footage of what the virus (there's a virus problem at the center of this) does. It is effective, and a little shocking.

But then, this is surprisingly actually kind of well-conveyed - they made it VERY clear that the tape was originally in Ambrose's left jacket pocket, and they showed very clearly that TN returned it to the wrong jacket pocket, AND it's obvious a moment later that Ambrose knows it has been replaced in the wrong jacket pocket. Don't know why, but at least it's keeping us on top of this situation.

Also not-too-shabby is how they're doing the consequences of Ethan and TN fancying each other, except then she has to go and seduce Ambrose and that's uncomfortable and drama-making. In Ethan's defense, as well as Ambrose's, I am also in love with TN right now.

1:02:12 - Ethan disguised himself as Scientist, the dead one from the beginning, and I'm just saying I'm glad this movie is embracing the disguise-craft theme that was established in the first movie. Ooh, is the show like that too?

And then just as I've typed that, it turns out that Ambrose did an Ethan disguise (it was established by Anthony Hopkins that Ambrose was an IMF agent so he can do that stuff too) to trick TN into outing her intentions. They make it very clear that there is voice-fake tech with their disguises that involves a wire mesh thing stuck to the throat.

Next up is a heist scheme to break into a skyscraper where they're growing stuff about the virus, and it's a little bit of that style I liked so much in the last movie, with the added twist that Ambrose is somewhere else anticipating what Ethan's planning, and, I think, plotting a separate, way-better heist. They're still talking about it and the heist is happening and it is suspenseful! I totally like this more than I remember.

1:13:30 - Ethan is at the part of the heist where he's at fancy lab facilities with robot arms and AI voices and oddly no people. VR and Australian Guy are observing everything that's happening using technology and Australian Guy's helicopter, making it more suspenseful, but I also don't know exactly what's going on? We appear to be where Scientist originally injected himself, and Ethan is I think killing the virus while also somehow visualizing Scientist injecting himself.

But then that all goes away because a platoon of thugs in black burst in and are shooting at Ethan. It all quickly became an action movie with blazing guns and VR's tech van getting bombed.

In the fracas it's clear that one of the injector guns contains the last of the virus, and also gunplay might shatter it and make them all infected, so that's decent suspense. But also, the lighting in this bio-lab is like a nightclub, with inexplicably roving spotlights and neon accents that pop in 4K.

TN is in the mix, and she decides to inject the last of the virus into herself, and there's a dumb moment where it's like ETHAN YOU HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO SHOOT ME WITH YOUR GUN and Ethan, Man of Ethics, does not do that. Instead there is more gunplay and Ethan jumps out a hole he made in the wall.

1:28:45 - We've moved to new location, a new compound, and it's on a guard-patrolled island and Ethan sneaks up on a guard and does a totally unnecessary body-flip martial arts move to take him out. I think he needs to steal the antidote from this compound so that he can save TN, who is somewhere else. He is visually passionate about this mission.

Ethan got caught sneaking in to this new compound by Stemp, and he did a whole grenade blowup thing but he still got caught. It's a trick, right? Yup, he put an Ethan mask on Stemp and a Stemp mask on himself and got Ambrose to kill Stemp. He realizes he just killed Stemp because of the finger injury, good job with that.

I am reminded that this movie is from the director of Face/Off, so I needn't have feared that the mask/disguise conceit would be forsaken.

But did he get the antidote? He must have. Sometimes when I'm typing notes I miss stuff, but he's now motorcycling away while VR and Australian Guy are providing support from their chopper.

This is now the vehicle-chase opera that I remember ending the movie so terribly extendedly. Much gunplay. Vehicles pirouette with violent elegance. Ethan can do such exquisite dances with his motorcycle and firearm. This climaxes in the ridiculous feat of Ethan and Ambrose riding their cycles at each other and jumping at off them at each other to finish the job sans vehicle. It ends as a tussle on the beach, and Ambrose has a knife that almost gets in Ethan's eye. The visual on that is striking. But it's no good, Ethan is too Tom Cruise for him. He gets the knife from him and DISCARDS THE KNIFE, and punch-kick-fights him a lot instead. Ethics.

Turns out Ambrose has a gun after all oh no. But then it turns out Ethan is standing by a sand-obscured gun somehow also oh good. He does a thoroughly storyboarded sand-kick-body-twirl gun recovery that ends like you'd guess.

So although there are some dumb things about this movie, I think it's better than I remembered. And having just watched the first one, I think it actually did a good job of having a story where you don't have to ignore a lot of stupidness. It's not like it's an especially good plot, but it didn't try to make you forget its holes like the first one. I still like the first one better, though.
