at one point are people "picking up clues" and at what point is it them constantly engaging in a constant state of delusion as a way to find the belonging and validation they don't find in other spaces and indoctrinating themselves into online cults of their own making at the cost of their own mental health?

like, is that public figure in a straight, loving relationship actually secretly gay and giving you signs only you can see and interpret correctly or do you just need friends, some therapy, and mood stabilizers?

#thinking of that girl who stopped being a larry after they cleaned the black mold in her vents and got medication #i know i said not today but actually i need something to distract me from my pain so maybe yes today #many of the queer people participating in these conspiracy theories are usually queer people who don't exist in physical queer spaces so #they only interact with queer culture online so they latch onto these conversations as a way to interact with people and feel #validated and respected in their queerness and end up indoctrinated into a weird online cult #especially young queer people who live in places where it's unsafe for them to be openly queer #so I don't blame people for pedaling these conversations but i do think that doesn't mean they're above criticism or exempt from being #shown how dangerous taking part in these things can be for them and the public figures involved mental health #and like generally as a lesbian who has lesbian friends IRL the conversations being pushed are just uncomfortable all around
