#its not their fault#they were conditioned by society to view women as Other and wholey separate from themselves#this is very specifically about the women in naruto#im at the bit where sasuke is choosing to leave the village and sakura is like#oh sasuke i know how you feel so lonely bc all your family were murdered#bc i would feel the same if you left#like the author just could not comprehend that a woman is capable of having motivations other than loving and supporting a man#Inos whole characterization is her love rivalry with sakura for sasuke#Hinatas whole characterization is about how uwu shes so shy and loves naruto#tenten is just there to be a spunky bg support to neji and rock lee#tamari is the smart older sister character to support gaara#even tsunade who has probably the strongest characterization still has all of her motivations affected by her proximity to men#like how shes the granddaughter of the 1st hokage and her boyfriend and brother died and how naruto reminds her of them#and how the first real project she throws herself into when she gets back to the leaf village is to fix rock lee#bc thats all women really do in naruto is support and fix the men who have complicated and varied motivations none of which have to do with#their relationships to women#bc men are real ppl with understandable thoughts and feelings capable of deep relationships but women are completely unknowable#i just think its sad more than anything
