i miss the good old days when dc would give anybody a solo. dawn of dc has some promising newly-relaunched faces, sure, but that's not good enough. we're never going to go back to the 80s and 90s when there was shit like the ray and hourman and guy gardner: warrior and amethyst and time masters and wild dog everywhere you looked. sure everything got canceled immediately but at least you got some miniseries out of it! at least people were trying something! nowadays if you aren't tied to batman you're getting shot in the foot after twelve issues anyway. they're making beautiful and stupid and often probably bad little books fight each other in round robin tournaments because they're afraid of losing a cent while ahem other branches of the company hemorrhage it. back in my day they would just put any bullshit out there. all the dark knights: metal: new age of heroes stuff was mediocre but i'll take a dozen silencers and sidewayses (without dan didio at the reins) over one more fucking batbook.
